Froggy's Halloween
I purchased this book for my two sons ages 2 and 4. I am incredibly disappointed in this book. Jonathan London should be ashamed of this title. If you as a parent think it is funny for the text to teach your child "trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat; if you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down your underwear" then buy it. Otherwise, boycott this book for all the right reasons!!! Truly distasteful and offensive literature.

Ready for Halloween?
It's almost Halloween and Froggy still can't decide what costume to wear. Should he be super frog, ghost frog or vampire frog? How about a football player, cowboy or even a zombie. All week he gets ready for Halloween, carving pumpkins and hanging spider webs and ghosts. He's even practiced saying "Trick or treat, smell my feet./Give me something good to eat." Finally when the big day comes, Froggy decides to be the Frog Prince, complete with crown and sword. Now he's off for a scary evening of tricks, treats, surprises and fun..... No one captures the essence of a busy pre-schooler as well as Jonathan London and Frank Remkiewicz. Mr London's lively text is full of sound effects, energy and humor and complemented by Mr Remkiewicz's bold, bright and expressive artwork. Together they've authored a clever and entertaining story about an engaging character that your little "Froggy" will easily identify with. This is the perfect read aloud story to help everyone get into the Halloween spirit. Froggy's Halloween is part of a marvelous series that youngsters just can't get enough of. Read them all and enjoy!

Froggy delighted me again!
This book is just as funny and charming as the other Froggy tales. I especially liked the Halloween costumes in the illustrations. Just as expected, Froggy has an embarrassing moment and of course he is "more red in the face than green"! This book is a wonderful addition to any personal or educational library!

Secrets are to be Told
In this book for children, a young boy named Wyatt seems to be just not old enough and he trys andtrys but with no success to be noticed. People are always telling this boy to be quiet. Well you know how hard it is to be quiet.
This young boy just stops talking all together and things are lost, ruined, and thing are just simply a mess. Well when a truck is about to drive over a little puppy Wyatt just can't stay quiet anymore. And from then on people are glad to hear him talk but he still hears quiet Wyatt once and a while.
This book was written by: Bill Maynard and illustrated by Frank Remkiewicz.

Can Wyatt keep quiet?
The reason that this book first caught my attention was the title. My son's middle name is Wyatt so, I had to read this book and hopefully enjoy it. I wanted my son to read a book about someone with his namesake. The only other Wyatt that I have ever heard of is Wyatt Earp. I was pleasantly surprised. The Wyatt in this book was really cool, just like Wyatt Earp. He is a typically little boy, inquisitive, who is constantly being told to be quiet (sounds familiar). No one has the patience for little Wyatt. He is frustrated and finally decides to literally take everyones advice, and becomes quiet. Wyatt keeps up his silence until a situation arises that could be harmful to a little puppy unless Wyatt decides to speak. Well Wyatt finally breaks his silence. Will Wyatt be deemed a hero or be told to be quiet once again....read it to see. I think that many children will be able to relate to Wyatt. Many children are told to be quiet by parents, siblings and peers. This book will show children that people really don't mean for them to "be quiet" and that speaking up is really a good thing.

Every tactic you don't want to teach your child!
Raising respectful children is a difficult task. Many parents try hard, and pray hard, to see that their children learn good manners and a good attitude. Those are some of my parenting goals.

This is our first Froggy book - it was given to my daughter as a Christmas gift. It is certainly not a book I would have bought for her. Other reviewers have written about the disrespect the Froggy shows toward his mother - and it is prevalent in this story.

The other concern I have with this story is the fact that it teaches children a number of diversions to use when they don't want to go to bed. I'm pretty sure that children will learn many of these on their own, but why read them this story and teach them to:

hide their toothbrush in the cookie jar?
to eat after brushing their teeth for the night?
to demand so much from their mother before going to sleep?

No! These are certainly not things I will intentionally teach my daughter.

The story does beg one other question - Where is Froggy's father in all this?

If you want to speed your child on his or her way to being ill mannered and disrespectful, this is the book for you.

The only plus, in my opinion, is the artwork. The book is well illustrated.

Teachable Moment
We love Froggy books. We have them all. However, I was surprised to see Froggy "back-talking" his mother and telling her what needed to be done before he'd actually go to sleep. Since we already had the book, I chose to use this to teach my daughter that Froggy is wrong to talk back to his mother. We talked about how long it was taking Froggy and how this was respecting his mother when she told him to go to sleep. Ok book but lessons are endless.

A favorite!
I was a little shocked to see the previous bad reviews of this book. Upon reading the concerns of parents I did come to see the observations they had made in a different light. Despite understanding how someone could conclude as they have, I personally must disagree. I don't expect this book to teach my child antics.

What my daughter (nearly 2 yrs old) has learned from this book is how to say "FROOOGGGYYY" when she sees the word. At her age, she enjoys helping me "find" things, and enjoys froggy's searches for lost items. She also identifies froggy's "brushing" in a positive tone, and "oops" with concern that froggy has spilled water. This story relates to her reality. And, above all, it is the first book she has tried to "read" on her own.

Nothing but positve results in my family! :)

"I HATE CAMPING"BY P.J. PETERSEN WAS A FUNNY BOOK.
"I HATE CAMPING" BY P.J. PETERSEN IS A VERY FUNNY BOOK ABOUT A BOY NAMED DAN THAT IS FORCED TO GO CAMPING WITH HIS MOMS BOYFRIEND AND HIS TWO KIDS, RAYMOND AND KIM. THIS IS A VERY FUNNY BOOK BECAUSE THE CHARACTERS ARE FUNNY AND ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING STUPID LIKE WHEN RAYMOND AND DAN ARE TRYING TO SET UP THIER TENT BUT THEY CAN'T DO IT AND FINALLY RAYMOND GETS SO FRUSTRATED HE JUST WALKS OFF. OR WHEN DAN GOT MAD AT RAYMOND SO HE TIPS THE CANOE OVER SO RAYMOND FALLS IN THE FREEZING LAKE. ANOTHER THING IS WHEN RAYMOND IS GETTING CHASED BY A DOG BUT HE THINKS IT IS A MONSTER, SO HE'S SCREAMING HIS HEAD OFF AND EVERYONE WAKES UP WONDERING WHAT'S GOING ON. IT IS A VERY FUNNY BOOK BECAUSE THE CHARACTERS ARE SO DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER, SO THEY ARE ALWAYS FIGHTING. THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT A GOOD BOOK.
