a bit dated but the advice is right on target
How would you like to save anywhere from 45% to 90% of costs on groceries on a consistent basis? How would you like to be able to walk into a grocery store with a $5.00 bill and come out with over $100.00 in groceries? Does this sound too fantastic to you? If it does, you need to read this book and practice the methods given.

Susan J. Samtur gives good advice on how one can save a tremendous amount of money on groceries and earn untaxed income through rebates. The advice she gives is nothing new but so few people follow it. Either out of laziness or skepticism, coupons are underused and misunderstood as are rebates or refunding. In her book Susan J. Samtur details how she is able to earn about $1500.00 a year through refunding and consistently saves between 30% and 45% off the regular price for groceries. She also explains how anyone can save as much or more than her through strategic couponing and refunding. She clears up many misconceptions and myths like "Discount stores are cheaper", "store brands are cheaper", "you don't really save that much on coupons".

In the age of the internet, some of the methods she mentions are more or less obsolete. On the other hand, she can and will save you a lot of money on groceries if you follow her advice. I'm living proof that her methods work because I've tried them and have been able to walk out of the grocery store paying a little over the sales tax on brand name products.

It started my addiction
It is not just saving money...it turns you into a coupon addict, a money-saving freak!! Then you try to turn your friends and family on to it. I am currently starting a coupon club because I bought this book 9 years ago, I am now buying it againt to pass on the information to my club members (my book keeps getting passed around and never returns to me!)

cashing in at the checkout
she has some good ideas on saving money. i would remend this book for a lady to save money to feed her family

NOT VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS BOOK
This is about the third book I've read this year where the story would have been much better had it taken place entirely in Egypt. Instead we only visit Egypt in tantalizing flashbacks. The adventures detailed in the flashbacks would surely have been more interesting than the story we're given. And one more gripe - on the front cover of the book Christina Dodd is quoted as saying, "A luscious, sexy, Scottish romp." - which proves to me that she didn't read the book. Yes, the present day action takes place in Scotland but in no way would I describe it as a "Scottish romp." Not a keeper. Buy it used if you just have to have it.

More Romantic Adventure than classic romance
This is one of the most fun books I've read all year. It's fast-paced and funny, and doesn't take itself at all seriously. I enjoyed the witty dialogue, and the adventure movie quality of the story. In fact, it reminded me very much of Indiana Jones, or the Mummy movies...only with steamy sex. I liked the fact that the hero and heroine were ambitious rivals that frequently set their differences aside to come to each others rescue. The bond between them was strong, if strained, and created wonderful sexual tension. The quest for hidden treasure, the secret society, the rival archaeologists, the absent-minded professor with the lovely, smarter than he is daughter, the disreputable hero with a heart of gold -- classic, cliched, elements of the romantic adventure genre that Sizemore gives us here with a fond smile and satiric wink. Pass the popcorn -- this is like reading a great old movie!

It sizzles your socks (off!!)
I have read a number of Sizemore's previous books and although they were well written they did not grab me from the start and compel me to rush to the finish only to regret that it had to end. This book does!!

A.David (Angel) is a bit of a bad boy. He and Cleo have a 10 year history of battling over antiquities across Egypt and Greece.

Their love story is believable because it is not an instantaneous attraction, it is based on knowing and growing. They are grown-up lovers who finally accept their fate is linked - but don't expect them never to fight again!

The story has a good pace that carries the reader into the story and keeps you there ("Just a few pages more and then I'll turn out the light!")

The entire secondary cast of characters are intriguing and could have had their own stories. Maybe Pia (Olympias) will appear later?? Congratulations Susan on a great tale!

AN ABSOLUTE MUST
I've read this book with passion. The first chapters I turned to were, of course, the Vincent Price movies I loved the most. What makes this book so great is for the first time, Midnight Marquee actually featured a chapter on Vincent Price's radio work. That fascinated me more than anyone else and the author of that specific chapter, Martin Grams, Jr., needs to be commended. What Gregory Mank does for horror films in the realm of documentation, Martin Grams, Jr. does for radio. That chapter alone is worth the price of the book.

Good, strong book.
Although LCW has the trophy on books about Vincent Price, this is a thoroughly interesting read. You'll agree wholeheartedly with some of the views of the various authors and shake your head sadly at some of the others, but it's always engaging. The usual MidMar high quality!

Doesn't get any better than this
The best part about this book is the variety of Price-related topics, from a Tim Burton short to his television work. His most popular movies are covered, from either a critical stand-point to a historical one, and each and every chapter is flavored with a selection from a very large interview with Vincent Price himself, never-before published. Of all the horror stars to grace the radio waves, Price was the most versitile, as apparent in an excellent chapter about his radio performances. Not only did Vincent Price guest, star or host on a variety of American and British radio series, but comedies, movie adaptations and WWII radio relief programs are also covered. A job well done for Midnight Marquee!

Tea Cup Collectors Joy!
The first book I've purchased on tea cup collecting. The gorgeous photos alone taught me a great deal about the art and fun of collecting tea cups. I've enjoyed every page. When the world is so frustrating during the day I can't quite concentrate on reading weightier matters, I pick up this book and lose myself in the gracious and lovely world of tea cup collecting. A big thanks to the authors!

A good starting place
This book is great for finding different cup and saucer types.
I would like to have had more information on pottery markings included in the book. Wish the authors had a web-site for questions.

Wonderful, one of the best books out there
This book is fantastic, beautiful pictures. A pleasure to just look through. Very happy with this purchase!!

Different
I would have given this 4 stars except in areas it didn't explain enough and others it said too much about nothing. To begin with, this book IS different but it is also typical. Makes no sense I know. Usually, boy meets girl sparks fly, they fall madly in love and live happily ever after. Of course, only after several trials and tribulations in between. In this case, I was confused if it was love or lust. It wasn't until the end was that I figured it out. Maybe I don't have enough imagination. I dunno. Nope, I'm not giving it away.

I'm not much of a historian but I'm sure certain things were not "politicaly correct" for the era. What the heck, it's fiction. In some areas I skimmed because it did tend to get carried away. The secondary characters Ira and May were true friends and enjoyable too. Aunt Dora and the 'girls' I wouldn't have missed. In fairness, they did show promise toward the end.

Jack and Sherrie were well matched (in all ways). They both needed to learn to trust and forgive. Both themselves and each other. The sex was steamy but tastefully done.

I enjoyed Sherrie's taste for adventure. Minnie, like mother, like daughter. I really enjoyed Minnie. She was 8 going on 30. Probably because I could see myself being as determined and blunt.

My goodness, when I previewed this review it sounds negative but it was a good read and would recommend it because it is a little different. Go for it. Enjoy. Escape.

ONE OF THE MOST MEMERIZING SEDUCTION SCENES I'VE EVER READ
Set in 1877 London. Orginal, with strong hero and heroine. The seduction scene between Sherrie and Jack when Sherrie is trying to convince him she loves him is one of the very best. Emotional, sexy, and satisfying. If you want a really lucsious love story with strong confident characters, that keep you quickly turning pages to find out what happens next, then read this book.

Complex and entertaining Victorian romance

Almost a decade ago, Englishman Earl Jack PenMartyn was sailing the ocean as a pirate when he met Sherrie, an American prisoner on her way to a harem. Jack offers Sherrie a deal. She willingly gives him her innocence and he will in return give her freedom back to her. A desperate Sherrie accepts the Faustian deal. To his shock the rascally Jack never forgot his captive.

Almost ten years later, American widow Sherrie Hamilton escorts her cousins, who seek spouses amidst the aristocracy. Sherrie and her daughter relish the ease and respect awarded her as a widow. She intends to never remarry, especially after that glorious time with the pirate. However, Sherrie and Jack see each other during a ball. Both believe that the other is the dream and nightmare of their existence. Love takes control of their mutual hearts, but will that prove strong enough to overcome their sordid pasts?

At first glance, readers will think that sensational Susan Sizemore has too many elements in her Victorian romance. However, to the delightful surprise of the audience, the story line cleverly gels into a torrid historical romance. The lead characters are a witty duo, whose flashbacks demonstrate how intertwined their souls had become. The support cast provides the right degree of authenticity that makes 1870's England vividly come to life. After this story hits the bookstores, sub-genre fans will demand another complex tale from Ms. Sizemore.

Fine Art Identification and Price Guide (2nd edition)
Published in Paperback by Avon Books (Pap Trd) (1992)
Author: Susan Theran
Amazon base price: $20.00
Used price: $19.00
Average review score:

out of date
While Theran's book has an excellent list of artists the price guide is way out of date and a new and updated edition is very definitely needed.

Great intro sections, and an update will be welcome
The bulk of the books lists artists' names and price ranges listed by artist, high and low, with a sprinkling of short essays on particular artists. Even more fun and useful are the chapters in the begininng -- Where to Buy Art, Dealing with Dealers, How to Sell, Restoration. They're a neat overview of the problems, pitfalls, and strategies for navigating the art market.

Don't leave home without it
This book goes with me everywhere. Many non-specialty auctions have a few paintings worthy of consideration. I find that Theran's book {& several of her other books: on prints, etc,} makes a difference in how I bid. I have definitely been pleased with the results.
