A fun book!
These little people books that come with a figurine are wonderful. My girls love them. As I read to them they use the little figurine to act out what is happening in the story. On each page there is a box telling you what the figurine should be doing now as the story unfolds. Or you can do your own actions. A fun book to read and a must-have for Little People fans!

Recommended for the all gardening enthusiasts
Gardening on the Minnesota prairie had its origins with the advent of pioneer homesteads in the 1840s. Because of the climate (especially the severe and extended winters), prospects for horticulture were grim. But in the following 150 years, Minnesota saw the development of estate gardens whose beauty and opulence would rival those of Europe, and who public landscapes would be numbered among the best America had to offer. Hundreds of new plant varieties, a flourishing seed industry, and gardens of all kinds and sizes would extend to every corner of Minnesota. In Minnesota Gardens: An Illustrated History, reference librarian and dedicated gardener Susan Price has drawn upon original sources (including old newspaper accounts, diaries, historic photos, and interviews) to showcase Minnesota gardening past and present in the first comprehensive and superbly illustrated history of the subject that is enthusiastically recommended for the all gardening enthusiasts -- and would serve as an admirable template for similar works celebrating the history of regional gardening anywhere else in the nation.

Well organized, easy to use, comprehensive guide
Although not all-inclusive, this book is an excellent guide for pyrex collectors. Because pyrex is so varied and has been produced for a long time, it is a wide category. This book does a great job of grouping, pricing and identifying what is out there in pyrex.

There's more to Fast Food Toy collecting than McDonald's.
This is a great reference for collectors of toys from restaurants other than McDonald's. All the "biggies" (BK, Wendy's, Arby's, etc.) are included along with more regional establishments such as White Castle and Sonic. It covers promotions through early 1994. Black & white photos are included for each promo with special pages of color photos displaying a huge variety of toys.

Very Informative Book for Porcelain Collectors Everywhere!
This is an excellent reference book! It is in black and white with some pictures and a decent price list. The best thing about this book is the broad range of porcelain manufacturers listed and the histories, other references and collecting hints. Items are listed with good descriptions and price list. It also contains marks. It lists individual manufacturers and also gives histories on manufactureing areas. Altogether a very good book and valuable to porcelain collectors!

HAVE FUN LEARNING ON SAFARI !
WHAT A WONDERFUL FUN BOOK ! MY SON LOVE READING THIS BOOK AND ITS GREAT TO TEACH THEM ABOUT COLORS, NUMBERS. HE IS WILD ABOUT ANIMALS AND LOVES TO COUNT TWO LIONS ETC THE HARD COVER IS DURABLE AND NOT EASY TO TEAR AND THE PICTURES ARE BRIGHT AND COLOURFUL. AN ABSOULTE PLEASURE TO READ !

Fantastic
My daughter has been reading this book since about 6 months ... the tabs on the pages make the pages easy to turn for little hands and she loves the bright colourful illustrations. She is now 2 and still loves it and loves counting along with me as I read it over and over (and over and over) again. It's a permanent fixture in our car so there is always something to read on a car trip. A must have for Little People fans!

If I Went on Safari
My little boy got this book @ age 8 months from his Aunt. She had had it for a long time (was a bit damaged) He loves it! Made his Dad & Mum read it to him over & over practically non-stop. We both know the words off by heart now! We have If I Went On Safari packed with his spare clothes nappies bibs etc as he wants it with him to look thru wherever he goes! The book succumbed to infant dismemberment last week (@ age 14 months!) but he still wants to look thru the remains! He gets so much pleasure from this book (more than any of the others he has) that I had to order him a new one for Christmas. Amazon is the only place I can find it, and I bought him the others in the 'little tab' series as well. I hope he enjoys them as much as If I went on Safari! 5 very big stars!

Very basic.
Its a good beginner's book - both on investing and on using Quicken for your investments. Its a bit light on the material I was hoping for: depth about really optimizing my use of Quicken for investment tracking and analysis.

Thanks!
I've wanted to take control of my finances and invest online for a while, but it's seemed a daunting task. This book gave me all the basics I needed to help me invest online with confidence. At least now I know I'm making informed decisions. Thanks.

A must-have for any investor!
If you're serious about online investing, this book is a must-have. Susan Price and Maria Langer provide smart, insightful advice for investors, without all the jargon. Its straightforward, easy-to-understand style sets itself apart from other investment books. The authors give practical advice on everything from choosing the right investments to tracking your trades online. The book is all substance, no hype. I highly recommend it.

The Sterkarm Handshake
I enjoyed this book a lot.

However, I don't see why it's considered a young adult (or even less a *children's*) book. This is a dark picture of the world, with graphic violence, moral ambiguity, plenty of sexuality (though not graphic), and no childhood or young adult characters (unless you count Per, who may be supposed to be in his late teens or early twenties). This doesn't mean I think it's inappropriate for young adults, but I'm a little surprised to see it marketed as intended for them. The diction occasionally slips into overly simplistic phrasing, but that's the only childlike thing I see here.

A basically exploitative corporation has invented a tube leading through into the 16th century Debated Lands on the Scottish-English border -- though this 16th century is in a slightly different dimension. On the 16th side are the Sterkarms, people reminiscent of some of PF Chisholm's wonderful Border characters. They're a fairly well drawn society, though the author sometimes overemphasizes their filth and violence in an apparent effort to sway readers' emotions. Caught up in the power struggle between the corporation and the local people are the young anthropologist Andrea and the heir to the clan lordship, Per.

Characterization is generally vivid, although Andrea spends way too much crying and whimpering, "Oh, Per!". The plot is fast-moving and believable, and ends on a bittersweet romantic note. Our sympathies swing from the 16th to the 21st century characters and back, ending in a pleasant ambiguity. I recommend this book.

The Sterkham Handshake
The Sterkham Handshake is a interesting book.As well as being awarded a prize for the childrens fiction it is rated highly all over the world.I think this book has lived up to its potential greatly and that is why I rated this book four stars.

I recommend this book to all that read this review and I hope that you will take my advice on this wonderful, sensational book.

A rare 5-star wonder.
The Sterkarms ~ Armstrongs ~ are a Sixteenth Century family of border marauders who lie in a no-man's land between England and Scotland. To shake hands with a Sterkarm would be to invite betrayal and a broken agreement: Left-handed, for the most part, they can shake and back-stab at the same moment. Despite their aggression and untrustworthiness, they have entered into some kind of an agreement with elves from Elven-land, by which an elf-woman will live with them and translate their culture and language for the others. The elves are, in fact, Twentyfirst Century people who have developed a time portal and are planning on using it to exploit other times and places, starting, of course, with the Sixteenth Century border country. Neither side is in the least pleasant, though both have pleasant people; neither is trustworthy, though both try to make agreements; neither belongs in the others' time, though both make the passage. The two primary characters, the translator from the Twentyfirst, and the head Sterkarm's son, manage to fall for each other and the main tension of the book is the working out of the results of a cross-time love affair. In the end, neither is willing to sacrifice for the other, and both end up unhappy. Though it sounds generally unpleasant, this is in fact an excellent book by a superb story-teller .
