3 1/2* Not Completely Bunny
...but it is fairly funny. Sue Denim's "Dumb Bunnies" series is full of verbal (and visual) puns and other language-based humor, much of it clever, some of it puerile. The humor can be at a fairly low level, and the adjective "dumb" is not used in any redeeming way. Unlike the similarly confused "Amelia Bedelia" character, the bunnies are neither particularly sweet nor well-meaning; unlike "Curious George," there isn't a tradeoff between mischief and heroics; unlike Homer Simpson, the questionable IQ is not balanced by other personal qualities.

Despite these minor objections, Denim does knows humor for the young set. In this story, the "dumb bunnies" confuse themselves and others during a zoo trip, and generally cause trouble for all. A lot of the humor is in the background zoo signs:"Free Admission. Free Ice Cream. Free Popcorn. All For One Low Price," and "Hot Dogs. Chilly Dogs. Room-Temperature Dogs." Dave Pilkey's illustrations are bright and colorful without overwhelming. A good book for around ages 4 to 7. Note: Although for older readers/listeners, Pilkey's "Captain Underpants" books deliver even more bathroom humor (for those who like that--and I know that many kids do), but they are more cleverly designed and plotted than this book.

My favorite Bunnies book
As much as I love the original Dumb Bunnies book, I think I like this one the tiniest bit more. The first time I read it I was literally rolling on the floor of a bookstore laughing. The storyline is so wacky, and the pictures are the best. Be sure to catch all the visual jokes - some of the signs in the zoo are priceless! I've heard it called "potty humor", but I also know that my younger cousin who hates reading adores these books. When it comes down to it, it's just a fun book and always good for a laugh!

It's hilarious!
I am almost seven years old. I'm learning to read. This is my favorite book. Because the dumb bunnies do funny things. The pictures are funny too. Read this book if you like silly books.

The Dumb Bunnies go to the Zoo
First can I just say Tammy Hoffman GET A LIFE HUNNY, a fun one at that! This Book is Helarious, so funny. Me and my 8 yr old daughter just laugh and laugh everytime we read this and the others as well. I think we own all of the dumb bunny books. It is nice to sit and read to relax and take the mind away and this book does just that will make you laugh til you cry {Seriously}! I love it when there reading the Lion sign and theres a butterfly on top of the sign so they think thats a Lion. And start to scream when it flys on Mama. THE LION IS LOOSE HELP THE LION IS LOOSE. Thank you, Sue Denim Sincerely Michelle Waters

Great medicine for kids and a perfect cure for senioritis!
I distinctly remember reading this book for the first time: I was sitting indian style on the floor...chuckling and laughing to myself so loudly that I had to relegate myself to the back section so I wouldn't draw too much attention to myself out in the open in that quite book store--and I was 18 years old! Yes, I was a graduating senior in high school, and this book (and series) gave me a much needed laugh session. It reminded me a lot of the Amelia Bedelia books I read as a kid only wittier and better! Dav Pilkey is an absolute genius! I went to the library later that week (to do some research for school) and ended up checking out the series. Even my mommy found the books to be hilarious.

A laugh-out-loud delight!
This is one of those rare children's books that the entire family can thoroughly enjoy. The Dumb Bunnies' Easter is a fun, whimsical look at an upside-down-holiday-turned-sideways. A great book to help the kids relax before bedtime.

disappointing
Based on the reviews, I expected something much better. This is not a book that as a professional, I found to be very useful.

Counseling Kids
I am a counseling intern working with a head start type program that works with parents and preschoolers. I used this book to teach the children and parents about stress management! The book teaches children breathing techniques, guided imagery, and progressive muscle relaxation (all stress reducing activities that are used for adults).
For preschoolers, I skipped over some of the big words, but it has great illustrations and comparisons! It takes a difficult to understand concept and makes it understandable and managable for children.

GREAT BOOK FOR KIDS (AND THEIR PARENTS, TOO) !
Dr. Moser gives kids an easy-to-understand look at stress and offers great coping skills in this delightfully illustrated book. I got this book for my children after our family moved to a new city and we were all showing signs of "Popping Our Corks". This book was GREAT! The kids (and mom and dad, too) are still using Dr. Moser's relaxation techniques/coping skills to deal with our ever stressful lives. It was such an enjoyable book, the kids didn't even realize they were learning valuable skills to use for a lifetime. I would recommend this book to anyone!

Dav Pilkey Does it Again
Dav Pilkey with his innate sense of how children feel andthink, has provided us with yet another spectacular book to share withour little ones at bed time. His clever rhymes and colorful pictures create a sense of wonder and harmony that will help them to see night-time as something fun, rather than scary.

The bright colors and rhymes in the story help to draw the reader into the rollerskating rink that is only for animals. The entertaining antics of all the different animals, as they get along and skate together, reminds us of we should all be able to do the same thing--if it was a perfect world.

Though meant for children four through eight, the story is so engaging that older children will probably enjoy it also. This is definitely a book that should not be missed. END

One of my son's favorites!
My 3 year-old son loves this book! He is absolutely delighted by the colorful, dreamy pictures of all the animals moving through the woods, over the water and into the sky on their roller skates. The simple rhyming poetry is very soothing for bedtime, and I'm sure he drifts off to sleep imagining what it would be like to go along on the adventure. I wish Mr. Pilkey would write/draw more books like this.

The Dumb Bunnies
My two kids loved this book. They ask me to read it to them every night. The story is silly but, the kids laugh each time the book is read. It makes for an enjoyable night for all...

Luv that Dav Pilkey guy!
Dav Pilkey is the author/illustrator of the hi-larious Captain Underpants series. His books are very funny and will encourage reluctant readers to pick up a book.

The Dumb Bunnies are a very silly family who happily do things backwards, upsidedown and sideways, without ever losing their happy dispositions, in fact, they never even notice that they march to the beat of a different drummer! With humor that everyone can understand and great illustrations, kids will really enjoy the Dumb Bunnies!

hee hee!
when i was student teaching in an inner-city school i read this classic to my kindergarten class and it was stolen before first recess. no one would fess up and at first i grieved for the loss of my favorite book, but i quickly realized that it had made some kid want to read badly enough to swipe it, which is a testament to it's utter fantabulosity. every time i read any of the "dumb bunnies" books i laugh out loud, wherever i am. just looking at those bunnies in their underwear makes me laugh! and the toilet jokes are to die for. this is my favorite series for reluctant readers of any age.

Kids love it. Parents hate it
My kids LOVE Captain Underpants, but I've found out the hard way that they don't make for very good read-aloud, bed time books. Be warned : These books are set up in comic strip form on a lot of their pages and without showing your kids EVERY page of the book while reading it, they'll be lost in the story. They're really good books, don't get me wrong, just not very good read-aloud book unless you are sitting in a circle or prepared to do the 'finger under the word as you read' type thing. My four and six year old LOVE them though.

Another winner
Again another excellent and fun book by Dave Pilkey. Great for early readers to read all on their own and to read to younger children, especially those who enjoy the Captain Underpants stories. An excellent book for children to learn that reading is fun.

A Whole Bunch of Laughter and Fun
If your child (or you) are a fan of Dav Pilkey and his silliness, this book will not disappoint. It's full of nonsense and fun! A great way to keep your child reading.

A wonderful tale of life in Czarist Russia
This book is written in a style very reminiscent of the Jewish and Russian storytellers. The wonderful rhytmn and pacing of the words help paint a vivid picture of the characters: the poetic and learned, but unrealistic Mordecai ben Yahbahbai; the steady and handsome Yuri the woodcutter; beautiful Liebeh, Mordecai's daughter, yearning to learn to read; the lonely, but kindly Yossip the Baker; and the fierce, cruel Sergeant Major of the Czar's army. This simple tale also gives a little picture of peasant life under the Czar. When Liebeh asked why her little shouldn't go fishing to try out a new lure, Yuri replies, "Because the fish belong to the Czar... the brook belongs to the Czar... In this forest everthing -- and everyone -- belongs to the Czar... Taking anything from the Czar's forest is punishable by death."

great book
I thought this was a very good book. I'd write more, but I am sick of reviewing at the moment

Big Dog and Little Dog Wearing Sweaters
This is a very cute book about one dog helping another dog. My one year old really enjoyed the simple pictures of the dogs. The book teaches the concept of big and small and is a great example of friendship.

Not CU
As an activity book or comic relief, this book is purty good. As CU or a novel, forget it. Withoutta doubt, no plot, no humor, no CU!

Puzzles involve characters of CU books. There's even a create-a-comic! These puzzles are, well, fun!

BUT! Beware, CU fans, the series is falling, and I think we should cherish the CUs we have

A++++ Material!
This book is great, including that it has ideas to make a comic book, ideas to make FLIP-O-RAMA, and a whole new Captain Underpants Comic Book "Hairy Potty." This is A++++ Material.

Hey at least they are reading? Right?
My 8 yr old is usually glued into one of these books, I have read them and I guess you really have to be young to get into them, they are truly silly to the point of no return.
But, hey, as long as they are reading! She gobbles every Captain Underpants book she gets her hands on and the charter school she attends hands them out for reading so many books per term.
Good reading for kids!!!
