Great for Beginning Readers
My sons loved Captain Underpants, so when I saw this book I grabbed it for my 4 year old, who is beginning to recognize words. He loves this book, and especially that it is a chapter book. It makes him feel grown up, like his brother. But, it is an easy reader and a superb picture book at the same time. After having heard it read to him a few times, he read it to me last night! We've read Dragon's Fat Cat also, and it too is a winner.

SWEET!
I bought this book because I was doing a unit on Friendship with my students. I loved this book as did my own children and students! It is a chapter book that can be read in one sitting. We were all touched by the fact that Dragon was looking for a friend. While the kids laughed at how he made friends with an apple, they learned for science the life cycle of an apple! I love the part where Dragon takes Apple to the Dr. and at the end of that part he took home a brown mushy thing. It is really a sweet book with great illustrations. I love all Dav Pilkey books! I highly recommend this book. I plan on getting others in this series!

Adorable! Dave Pilkey's best story!
I know Dav Pilkey has written a lot of funny books which can make both kids and adults laugh, but I consider his Dragon series to be the best, and of those, A Friend for Dragon is tops! I have returned to this book many times to read to school children, and they are glued to the gullible dragon who falls for the trick that an apple is alive and can speak. We laugh as Dragon tries to communicate with his best friend, the apple, and worry when the apple is bitten into and finally dies. Dragon goes through a grieving process, but the story ends on an upbeat, optimistic tone, and we are all touched by the sweet humor and poignancy of this story. This is one of my all-time favorite children's books.

Adorable book, great pictures!
I absolutely love the art in this book! Plus, the story is so adorable and funny I don't mind reading it over and over and over again to my 19-month-old daughter.

4 year old absolutely loves it!
My son, who is 4, absolutely loves this book and the other Dragon books. He giggles uncontrollabley whenever we read it. Dragon is a very endearing, lovable character who kids can really relate to. Gaurenteed to tickle the funny bone of any child!

Hilarious
I am in college and I bought this book for myself because I thought it was so good. I took it to summer camp with me and the kids in my cabin ages 6 - 8 read this book every night for a month. They loved it as much as I did.

dragon's merry christmas
I love dragon books because dragon are my favorite animal. My favorite part in the book is when he puts some up some candy. He is very nervlous so he shakes andhegets the candy down and eats it.

A New Holiday Classic
This warm, funny Christmas book is a joy for all adults and children. It captures the fun and heartwarming aspects of the season as Dragon find the true spirit of Christmas-giving to others. A must read for children of all ages. My favorite of Pilkey's Dragon series.

Forever a family favorite!
This is the first and only Dragon book we've read. My son, who was 3 years old at the time, committed to memory the entire book and loved to "read" it to anyone who'd listen during the holiday season and beyond! We all just cracked up about Dragon's Candy Wreath! This book is a heck of a lot of fun and really captures the holiday spirit of giving, harming none and the temptations of over-indulgence. It's great for all ages -- but best if you can find a 3 year old to read it to...and have them read it back to you!

these books are innocent and hilarious
I got the whole set for my 30 year old sister who fell in love with the story. The language is simple and very funny. A great buy for dog lovers with a sense of humor.

Excellent book, raising questions on the nature of justice.
Big Dog and Little Dog are very lovable, but bad, in the only children's book I know that comes right out and says what all children know--being bad is fun, at least until it's time to pay. This book also may serve as a foundation on which to engage a child on the nature of justice. In particular, is it fair that Big Dog, after creating a big mess, gets in big trouble, while Little Dog, who created only a little mess, also gets in big trouble? Should there not be a principle of proportionality in the imposition of penalties?

All the Big Dog Little Dog books are wonderful!!!
I don't have any kids, but I do have five dogs, and all the Big Dog Little Dog books. I love to read them because they are so joyful and I can see the antics of my "babies" in the characters. These simple stories and happy illustrations can make me feel good on the bluest of days.

Kids Love It!
My kids have all of the Big Dog, Little Dog books and absolutely love them. They have learned about taking care of eachother and accepting the consequences of your actions. Cute illustrations and simple text.

Dragon's Fat Cat
This early chapter book was given to my son by his preschool teacher as a reward for potty training. He was thrilled because it was his first chapter book which meant that he was one of the big boys. That was three years ago and it is still his favorite book to read. The chapters are short enough that you can read the entire book to children before bedtime. It's funny, well written and wonderfully illustrated - the best book he has out of a collection of at least 50 books. I am in the process of trying to find the entire series for him. Definety a don't miss!

Dragon learns how to take care of a pet
This one had my kids cracking up - including the 15 year olds that I teach! Dav Pilkey tells a wonderful tale of taking care of a cat - including the cat's "smelly problem". Dragon's interpretation of "litter box", as well as his unique system for naming cats provides many laughs. There are lots of little eyecatchers in Pilkey's fantastic illustrations - look for pig-tail bait, and van Gogh's Starry Night, and the crumpled fender (from Dragon Gets By).

Kat Kong

KAT KONG is gianormous!
A spoof of the story of King Kong, with cat & mice characters.

Starring Flash as Professor Vincent Varmint, Rabies as Rosie Rodent, Dwayne as Captain Charles Limburger & introducing Blueberry as the Monster this big book, a mixture of photographic collages & liberal acrylic paint daubings, tells the story of fearless mice who set sail for a strange island.

This book as been rated TS - terribly silly & some material may be too silly for grown-ups. I loved the ton of puns & silly fun. Our librarians say this book is rarely on the shelf - so popular is it with children & adults alike. Great family reading!

Dav Pilkey has done it again!
This book is funny, including that is has adaptation with "King Kong." Kat Kong is funny, that it should be good as a movie. I give this funny story 5 out of 5.

Kat Kong Rocks
Kat Kong has interesting pictures that match the story. This book captures young children's attention and keeps it. This book has a great story. It is an imagninative story that I find amusing. A group of mice travel to the island of Kat Kong. There they find Kat Kong unconscious and they take him back to their city and put him on display. Find out what happens to Kat Kong when you read Kat Kong by Dav Pilkey.

Good book for our children
Dav, Pilkey a great painting in the paperboy. there were very nice pictures. since the story was written by a few sentence every page, it really gave children more space to image on the story. alhough it's a simple story, it taught our children the most. in the story, Dav descripted what did a paperboy do in his job. and how hard that his work was. as a paperboy, he had to get up early in the morning and delievered his newpaper before anyone got up. eventhough it was hard for him to get up in the morning, he had a very good friend (his dog) would do it with him every morning. in fact, Dav had taught our children that FRIENDSHIP would not only be limit just with human, it could also be with our animals, too. at the same time, he did teach our children to love animals because they could be their friend. also, Dav had taught our children what RESPONSIBILITIES are. to be responable to his/her own responsibilites. in the story, the paperboy would finish his work before he went back to sleep. therefore, when our children grow up, they would know to take care of their responsibilities and not avoid them. it's a good book to teach children about responsibilities.

The Paperboy delivers magic
When you are sleeping & the sky is dark & the streets shadowy, someone & his dog are up, working & happy.

Happy are they at work before dawn, the dog running after scents & growling at critters & the boy pedaling his bike, thinking his thoughts & tossing the morning paper to house after house, as slowly, softly another day dawns.

Dav Pilkey's pictures & story capture the shadows & colors of when night turns toward day & while everyone is tumbling out of their beds, the paperboy & his dog are tumbling back into theirs.

A fine way to introduce children to the idea of working for a living, of being responsible, of doing the work until it's done & the fun.

Serindipulous Book
The Paperboy was written and illustrated by Dav Pilkey. This was a fun-to-read, lighthearted book that relayed a very vivid lesson of maturity and hard work. In the story, a boy and his dog get up early every morning and deliver papers. The paperboy was a very responsible young man who loved his job. The bright and happy illustrations played a key role in letting the reader know how happy the boy and his dog were. In this story, the author uses various forms of symbolism to portray the paperboy as being a very mature and hard-working young man. One of the first very obvious symbolic representations was the young boy's receding hairline. While this doesn't necessarily mean he is mature, it is a trait displayed by men who are generally much older, wiser, and more mature. In many foreign countries, older men, who usually have little or no hair, are more respected and thought to be wise and knowledgeable. I think the author was probably using this common knowledge to help relay his message of maturity. Another key symbolic representation is the way the boy cares for the dog as his own child. He takes him everywhere, feeds him, and watches over him. These are all characteristics of a mature adult who has accepted the responsibility of being a parent. Lastly, the fact that the boy leaves his warm bed very early on a cold Saturday morning while everyone else is still asleep, speaks wonders of his dedication and level of maturity. In the book, the paperboy never hesitates when his alarm goes off. He knows he has a job to do, and he does it. Even the boy's dog, who he has cared for and taught behavioral patterns, is eager to start the early day. In this book, the paperboy was clearly a responsible and dedicated young man. The various forms of symbolism that the author used were a very effective means of relaying this message.

Big dog and little dog are the BEST!
My son loves these books, and I must say this is one of my personal favorites. If you have a toddler you must get this book. You cant help but smile each time you read it and your child with love it.

A Must Have For All Toddlers!
My daughter is 15 months old and LOVES this series. Although I do not think it is the most exciting book (and she has tons!) kids LOVE it. The pictures are simple but colorful and the text is easy for her to understand. She picks out this book night after night. I would very highly recommended any of this series.

Great book for small children
My daughter loved the book and could identify the big dog and little dog and chose the book each nite to read. She is only 1 1/2 and it is a hardy book for little hands.

Nothing funnier then a bunch of Dumb Bunnies......
This troop will have you in stitches. I bought this book for my kids, and they love it!! The first time I read it for them they just couldnt stop laughing. I never saw my kids laugh so much just from reading a book. So far they all have taken turns bringing it to school. They can hardly wait to see how the Dumb Bunnies handle Easter.
"Thats my boy!!"..heh heh that daddy bunnie......go read the book and enjoy a good laugh with your kids

The funniest book I ever read...........
This book is the funniest because the Dumb Bunnies always do the opposite of the things you should do. They always make mistakes like letting Baby Bunnie drive the car, going bowling in the library and pouring the pooridge on their heads. I am 7 years old and I think kids will like this book very much. Me and my brother and sister laughed so hard when we read about the Dumb Bunnies.

Hilarious!
Yesterday one of my 2nd grader students found this at the library and asked me to read it. By the end, several other children joined us and we were all laughing together! A silly, ridiculous book with great pictures and plays on words that will make any child enjoy reading. Highly recommended!
