Of the first industrial farming operation in America
Growing A Global Village: Making History At Seabrook Farms by Charles H. Harrison (South Jersey Editor and Senior Writer for "General Store" and teacher of writing at Rowan University) is the unusual story of the first industrial farming operation in America, which in 1955 was named "the biggest vegetable factory in the world" by Life magazine. The prototype of what was to become known as "agribusiness", Seabrook Farms was a commercial operation which helped to pioneer a change in agriculture itself, and was also a major provisioner of food stocks for America's soldiers in World War II. The fascinating story of the conception and enactment of this grand and innovative project, Growing A Global Village is concisely presented in a highly recommended and absorbing account.

Harvest of Barren Regress: The Army Career of Frederick William Benteen, 1834-1898 (Frontier Military Series, 12)
Published in Hardcover by Arthur H Clark (1985)
Author: Charles K. Mills

Harvest of Barren Regrets
In his poignant biography of the man whom many believe to be George Armstrong Custer's "Brutus", Mills paints a stirring portrait of an enigma of the Indian Wars, Frederick W. Benteen. If you're a follower of Custeriana or a whimsical student of Custer's Last Stand, you'll find this to be a fascinating character portrayal of a man maybe not so different from you and me. Benteen, a renowned cavalryman and survivor of the Battle of the Little Big Horn, rose to the rank of brevet colonel in the Union Army during the Civil War before joining the Seventh Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kansas in 1867. His story is one of life on America's frontier, a tapestry of the hardship and brotherhood common to the campaigning cavalryman on the Great Plains. "Harvest of Barren Regrets" is an epic tale of a forgotten warrior, one of the last of a lost breed of American frontiersmen, and a book well worth the time and investment.

A most interesting book
Mr. Pellegrino has written an excellent book about that tragic ship and about the background of the men who found her. A must have for any serious TITANIC "buff". It is also a great companion book to Dr. Ballards "Dicovery of the TITANIC" as it offers insights not contained in his book.

I'm an author, and would like to know the address for Dover Pub. and Black Dog & Leventhal. They are not listed in the Writer's Marketl Please send these addresses to PHrbacek@aol.com

P.S. another great book to add would be Bible Verses for Young Children, CBP Press, Box 179, St. Louis MO. It illustrates 32 RSV quotes, and is suitable for copying or framing. It's my book (Paula Ruth)

Brings out key insights in Charles Eastman's work
Light On The Indian World: The Essential Writings Of Charles Eastman (Ohiyesa) is a collection of the writings of Charles Eastman, who was born in 1858 and raised in the traditional nomadic life of the Sioux Native Americans prior to the era of reservations. Critical selections from "The Soul of the Indian," "The Indian Today," "Indian Boyhood," and "From the Deep Woods to Civilization" bring out key insights in Charles Eastman's work that transcend time and generations. Light On The Indian World is a fascinating, engaging, informative and memorable addition to personal, academic, and community library Native American Studies supplemental reading lists and academic reference collections.

Native American Sovereignty on Trial: A Handbook With Cases, Laws, and Documents (On Trial)

Must reading for better understanding of American history
This first book by Brian H. Wildenthal instantly positions him as a law-thinker who has disturbing new perspectives to offer about how law drives American history. The subject of how callously and exploitively U.S. law -- and often the Supreme Court as well -- has treated our native American peoples is a long-neglected one. So is the subject of how vastly different from that of blacks and other racial groups is the legal treatment of our U.S. tribes, because they started off dealing with the U.S. government as sovereign nations. U.S. law has often had the effect of attempted genocide on the tribes, not only in the past but right up to today, whether it's the festering old treaty issues or the continuing policy of removing Indian children from tribal homes and putting them up for adoption with non-Indian families. Technically a textbook, "Native American Sovereignty on Trial" is highly readable and accessible to the layperson. It gives a vivid picture of the long sad history of issues and court decisions -- from the Cherokee removals and the broken treaties of old, to controversies around criminal jurisdiction and tribal gaming today. As an American of mixed-blood descent, with relatives who are enrolled tribal members, I felt my blood boil as I read this book, and hope "Native American Sovereignty" gets the wide visibility that it deserves. Wildenthal has been teaching at the Thomas Jefferson College of Law in San Diego for years, with a major focus on this subject. I look forward to Wildenthal's next book.

A must book for genealogical Research
This book is the best I have ever seen for showing the chronology of county boundary changes. The maps not only show the changing boundaries vs time, but show the location of the various cities, rivers, creeks, etc. A great book for genealogists with ancestors in North Carolina.

This book makes me sad that I was not born and raised in NC
Through prose, pictures and poems, this book gives one the "feel" of truely being a North Carolinian. Even if you have never visited the state, you can laugh, cry and dream as Charles Kuralt paints picture words of his home. A lovely relaxing read.
