I Want Your Moo
This is a fantastic book to read to children. This book shows how everyone is different and how the turkey in the book doesn't like his sound so he goes in search of a new sound. I know as an adult I can relate especially when I am having a bad hair day- I would love to be able to search for new hair. This is a great book for teaching differences and a beginning point for a dialogue on differences and what a child might want to change about themselves.

Excellent intro to Moon phases for 5 yrs old and less
What a delightful little book! It was recommended on an astronomy listserv I belong to. This is a great way to introduce the Moon phases to children 5 and under. It is told in a simple way. It makes a nice story with animal characters that children know. The
science is impeccable and is made very romantic and playful. I bought one for myself and then 2 other copies for a niece and nephew!

A "must" for students of Native American art history
Pablita Verlarde: Painting Her People is an impressive artbook that beautifully presents an historical and compelling memoir of the artist, enhanced with twenty-eight of her paintings in full color, including some previously unpublished and rarely seen. Biographer Marcella Ruch spent many hours with Pablita Verlarde recording her stories as first person reminiscences and includes anecdotes drawn from her Pueblo childhood, her mother's early death from TB, her experiences at St. Catharine's Indian School at age 5, her later years at the Santa Fe Indian School (working with Dorothy Dunn to develop her art), and painting murals at Bandelier under the WPA. There are personal reflections on the struggle to raise her children alone, and her eventual fame as an Native American painter. Here also are stories about the experiences of being a Native American woman in the 20s, 30s, and 40s, as well as being an artist able to triumph over many difficulties. Each story is illustrated with one of her paintings of Pueblo life, a photograph from her personal collection, or an historical photograph from the Museum of New Mexico photo archives. A "must" for students of Native American art history in general, and the work of Pablita Verlarde in particular, Pablita Velarde: Painting Her People is also available in paperback (0937206652, $18.95).

Scrumptious, useful, and straightforward!
This is a gem of a cookbook. The recipes are clear, emphasizing quality ingredients. Included are reduced fat/sodium options and sidebar instructions for basics (cooking perfect beans, how to roast garlic). When you wonder what to make for the next potluck or special dinner for friends, this is the book to pull from the shelf.

A Useful and Inspiring Little Jewel!
It is a joy to come across this useful little volume of selected prose and poetry with charming black and white illustrations. The selections are well-written and engaging for any elementary or middle-school student. Themes related to challenges that children (or adults!) confront and surmount are both heartening and useful--as discussion-starters, writing prompts, or accessible avenues to boosting a child's self-confidence and morale. Marcella Anderson is a well-known authority on bibiliotherapy, with years of experience in using books and stories to help hospitalized children cope with the serious problems and discomfort they must confront. Thus this book is particularly useful for adults working with any sick or handicapped child; nonetheless, I can see innumerable ways it could be used effectively at home or with regular school classes, children dealing with academic or social challenges, or simply to impart good, solid illustrations of some of the most important personal lessons for any youngster to absorb.

Hemispheric security's importance
In our days, there is a continue interest on security field, whatever it could include or we understand by security. In other words, the essential core is to mantain confidence in the region, specifically, Latin America, of which world has pointed out their real interests.

In order to keep the peace in the region, the importance of this book is to select the principles of the international relationships. The past agreement signed between Peru and Ecuador definitely point out the seriuos level of confidence that those countries have reached.

Finally, the author is a known latin american researcher, so that, it could contribute to explain the narrow military and civil relationship that have worked together to end the territorial conflict.

An evocative and clear book that simplifies a complex topic
The authors write with precision and clarity. They explicate a complex topic systematically and render theoretical constructs immediately useful. Numerous clinical examples add clarity and life to the theoretical aspects of their presentation. This book is readable by practicing clinicians and by the interested non-professional. As a post-graduate lecturer and psychoanalytic supervisor, I have found this book to be an excellent introduction to Kohut's Self Psychology primarily due to the authors' ability to hold the readers interest, to make difficult concepts clear, and to stay close to Kohut's the original ideas. This book is also useful as a refesher for experienced practitioners and as a good prerequisite for more more advanced and / or specialized study.

Average review score:

Thoroughly enjoyable
This book is absolutely fascinating! Marcella Horn's exciting account of her city born family's move to the wilderness is both witty and profound. This book combines courage, adventure, and romance. It is about fulfilling dreams, overcoming odds, family unity. Ms Horn vividly describes the rugged scenery of the Pacific Northwest wilderness and her characters come alive under her pen. Encounters with hungry and wild creatures, some four legged, some two, abound. It is a thrilling memoir.
