The thought of JPII is trans-modern, it is a bold and sophisticated philosophical approach to the problems that afflict our world. His insights penetrate into the philosphical and spiritual roots of the modern crisis and has found the solution. His approach is a rigorus engagement with modern thought and transcends the dead-end thought that has emerged among intellectual eliets and poisons our universities.
For those who would gloss over his writings, they would miss the mystical import and profound depth of this thinker and leader. So subtle, so rich, it is easily missed.
John Paul II is a prophet to the world, a prophet whose message has largely been ignored.
In the not too distant future, when our need for the TRUTH presses upon us ever more heavily, those who search will find John Paul's writings and be liberated and ennobled by this man's potent seed.
Take this and steep yourself in the truth and allow this man's spirit, the spirit of the Father, Child and Love to fill you.
This important book provides a study of 12 of Pope John Paul II's encyclicals, from the first of his pontificate, Redemptor Hominis, through the much discussed Evangelium Vitae and Veritatis Splendor, the not-to-be-overlooked Redemptoris Mater, and Ut Unum Sint.
Scholars and non-scholars will be pouring over the Pope's gifts for the next century to come. The encyclicals offer Pope John Paul II's brilliant blueprint for the third millennium. It is a blueprint fashioned from Scripture itself, but with modern insights to carry us forward across the "threshold of hope."
J. Michael Miller, C.S.B. offers an excellent introduction to Papal encyclicals and helpful notes prior to each chapter. In addition, an exhaustive index makes this a superb reference for pastors, teachers, writers, theologians, researchers, and the average layperson desiring to know more about the Church.
Boa has written several prayer books, all great, all solid. This is my favorite to date.
This book will scripturally guide you through praying...not only the scriptures, but will guide you in praying for your world around you. It begins with praise and worship of Almighty God, leads you in a confession of Who He is, then guides you through personal renewal, petitions, intercession, and then a prayer of thanksgiving.
One of the things I liked best about this book was that it started out with each section, declaring the Word of God, then it guides you (differently each day) to pray for your leaders one day, your family the next, that you will be a faithful steward of your time and money, for God's wisdom...the list goes on and on.
Both this book and "Praying the Scriptures for Spiritual Growth" are two of the best prayer/devotional books I have ever used. If I could only keep two, these would be the two I would keep. Not only are they easy to follow, they are taken directly from the Word of God.

The story is of a Nazi Officer the day before D-day in a little town near the coast of Normandy. He is ordered to kill severla of the townsmen, and does. At the end of the war he is tried for war crimes and convicted. After his lengthy sentence he plays soccer on the german national team. In one game he must face the boy he taught to play soccer in that town, Varin. Varin is also the son of one of men the Nazi officer killed. The game is described greatly and brings a very human nature of crowds when faced with villianous opponents. The game is very encapsulating and takes up 50% of the novel. With the game over the conclusion must come to the book and it will sadden even the hardest of hearts to read the actions of these two men whose lives have been twisted togeher to share a single moment.
The story is about a Nazi officer in an occupied French town on the coast of Normandy on the day before D-day. He is ordered to kill several of the townsmen that day and does. At the conclusion of the war, he is tried for War crimes and convicted. After his sentence he plays soccer on the German national team. In the big game against France he must face the boy he taught to play soccer in that french town, the conflict comes with the fact he ordered the death of that boy's father the day before D-day. The game itself i would say is about 50% of the novel and a great descriptive of the battle between two men who lives have been twisted together through fate. The end of the novel will shock and sadden even the coldest heart. great book that is all i will say is great book. Very short, you could probably read in one night.

It appears, at first glance, that this book only contains the comedies written by Shakespeare, but that is because there are three Tables of Contents within the book. These lists are placed at the beginning of each section, and the following page numbers begin at one again. However, not in the case of the Poems and Sonnets, which are in the Historical Plays list.
There is an additional list for the exquisite plates, which add another dimension to the historical significance of this library. The artwork, such as the three witches who enter to thunder and lightning in Macbeth, is extraordinary. You will find the work of:
*Sir John Gilbert (1817-1897) who created almost 750 pictures just for Shakespeare's works.
*George Cruikshank, who was the son of Isaac Cruikshank, a Scottish painter, and the primary illustrator for Charles Dickens.
*Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester (1532-1588). Dudley knew Shakespeare, and was once courtier in the court of Queen Elizabeth I.
For any student or lover of literature and art, or as a writer's reference, this is a requisite.
