Review of Harbrace College Handbook (Revised 13th Edition)
I have used the Harbrace College Handbook for 31 years. My first was the 5th Edition, which I keep on the top in one of my desk drawers. I used it throughout college. I bought this edition for my father, who gave me the first one, and seems to have lost his own copy (he's 86!). This edition is much thicker than the 5th one -- these books are not exactly "reading material," but a reference guide; so I haven't read it from cover to cover. This book comes with a computer CD to install the entire book on your computer.

Excellent electronic bibliography section.
Excellent reference if it is necessary to constantly bibliograph infomation off the internet and other electronic sources

I finally stopped Crying
I found this book when my lifepartner died two years ago. THis book helped me so much then and now, when certian days come along and I start feeling sad and don't understand. I am in a new relationship and still sometimes find myself missing my former life-partner and I realize through this book that it is entirely normal and to some degree expected.

I recommend this book to anyone who has lost someone they love. It will help you get a handle on your emotions and is very easy to read.

What is the "Love"? What is the "Alive#? -It's on this book.
Firstly,I found this title is in the The Journal of Emergency Medical Services of Japan. This book has introduced with activity of the Metro Toronro Ambulance. This story has told about how to reduce Paramedician's stress and how to inform the "Lover's death" to the family or relatives.I really had caught warm heart from this story this is because The Metro Toront Paramedician has present this book to the person who lost the lover. And,this book provides how to accept one's saddness and how to go ahead one's life.I think, from this book is able to learn what is the realy love and what is alive. I reccomend this book ,especially medician, paramedician, emagency case cordinator, government officer, student and, simply for all.

Iron Duke (Odyssey Classics)

Author: John Roberts Tunis

Average review score:

A Great Book with Heart
Ranking my favorite running books is like choosing favorite children. You love 'em all equally, right? While the Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner is a better literary achievement and Once a Runner is a more believable account of what it is like to be a runner, there is something special about Iron Duke that sets it apart. A good read for young adults and runners Iron Duke has that rare combination of great story and heart; Tunis certainly caught Lightning in a bottle with this one! But don't take my word, read for yourself.

Duke Wellington goes to Harvard with high expectations
Tis is what u call a great book. It can be really funny at times, but also very serious. Tunis' writing styles effect his book tremendously. I really enjoyed it and i can almost guarentee u will love it to.

Better than "Grendel"
After my initial dissapointment, (This book is not about the John Gardner who wrote the post Ian Fleming James Bond novels) I came to embrace this amazing book. Never has so much perspective been shoe-horned into such a space. The real gem in this book is the work of Kathy Vanspanckeren, whose winning personality and wit is evident on each page.

Vanspanckeren is the star here!
Robert Morace and John Gardner maybe be the big names that will draw in the public, but the real superstar work here is the work of Kathryn Vanspanckeren. She could edit the pants off a bonobo--and I've seen her do it! Her critical perspectives on John Gardner are so critical and perspective that they should be separated, expanded upon (maybe proof-read) and placed in a larger book, preferably with a picture of a her on the front. Because, as most publishers know, all the best books have pictures of chicks on the front.

A life-changing, inspring book!
The account of John Birch's life is a great testimony of God's power today and how God can use individuals to accomplish His will. John Birch was a Baptist from Georgia and he was killed by Communists in China where he worked for the US Army and also started missionary work. John Birch is a great role model for a Christian, and for all those who desire integrity, character, strength and honor in a man's life. In fact, this book has led me to join a Baptist church in Tennessee since John Birch was strong for the Lord and he was a good Baptist. It is so revealing and amazing to read the letters he wrote shortly before his sacrificial death. This book is heartily recommended. The only flaw about the book is that the author seems not to be a faithful Christian because he expresses belief in evolution and does not focus on John Birch's life of faith, and his relationship to the Lord's church. But the words and actions of the missionary John Birch speak louder than the author's opinions and views.

The story of a real American hero!
In April, 1942, the Rev. Birch, Baptist missionary, was eating supper somewhere in China, and was approached to aid the crews of the Doolittle Raiders to safety from behind enemy lines. He volunteered for military service as a chaplain at that time. He was approached by Gen. Claire Chennault of the American Volunteer Group (Flying Tigers) who had other ideas. Rev. Birch was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on July 4, 1942 and served the remainder of the war as an intelligence officer, but preached whenever he could. Ten days after the cessation of hostilities, August, 1945, by then a Captain, John Birch was brutally murdered by Chinese Communists of Mao Tse Tung's 9th Route Army.

Every security professional read this book!
I read this book after reading a review in Security Management Magazine, February edition...the reviewer stated 'Any security professional would benefit from this concise, thoughtful, and well-written text. It is an important tool for retail security professionals aiming to become self-reliant.' - Security Management. The reviewer also called the author an "enlightened iconoclast"...wow, was he right on the money. No hyperbole in this book, just straight to the heart and mind facts, new ideas, and an eye-opener for all of us in the field. The author's recommendations of putting to rest the old shrinkage accounting methods in lieu of a "shrinkage before net profit" strategy should be adopted by every serious loss prevention executive who is tired of obscuring the impact of theft and losses.

Not just for the Small Business
As the former national director of loss prevention for one of the largest Top 100 retailers in the U.S. (currently instructing at Mercyhurst College), not only do I recommend this book to the small business owner but also to every large corporation that struggles with ineffective programs. The author has presented here insights into accounting, operations, and loss prevention that are rarely seen--a no-nonsense, truthful and dynamic review of LP programs, definitely not another do-it-yourself book full of platitudes and traditional thinking. After 30 years in law enforcement and as a corporate executive, this book is one of few to make seriously rethink the loss prevention process. For the small business owner or consultant new to the field, it is written eloquently yet simply; for the established practitioner, it is written to challenge the old and often ineffective strategies of behemoth corporations.

Maximum Danger: Kennedy, the Missiles, and the Crisis of American Confidence

Another cogent analysis of the Kennedy/Cuba crisis
Robert Weisbrot's Maximum Danger provides another cogent analysis of the Kennedy/Cuba crisis: this from the viewpoint of Kennedy's overall attitude toward the Soviet Union's growing missile strength. Weisbrot argues that John Kennedy attempted to minimize confrontations with the Soviets, pursuing different options to avert the crisis. Maximum Danger provides an engaging, thoughtful series of different viewpoints about the missile crisis.

Maximum Danger
"A powerful and provocative look at what the publics view was on the Cuban missile crisis. Maximum Danger reveals startling information from both Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill. Robert Weisbort tells the real story of what Kennedy and his administration endured through almost near nuclear holocaust."

Mediums: Speakers With the Dead

Great sourcebook! Tremendously useful.
This book is well-written and covers a vast scope. Contrary to what the title might lead you to believe, this book covers a lot more than just plain mediums. In fact, it offeres detailed information on just about any faction in the Skinlands that might interact with the Restless Dead: "Boardwalk mediums" found at carnivals and circuses the ruthless Giovanni vampires, even charlatans and frauds who possess no real talent, but manage to offend wraiths with their very presumption and chicanery.

This book is definitely worth the purchase price- it will enrich virtually any Wraith chronicle.

Mediums done right
This is a fine resource for mediums, much better than the Quick and the Dead. The systems stuff is vastly improved, with a battery of new merits and flaws for mediums that I actually found useful (and can be used to supplement or replace the hedge magic paths for interacting with wraiths). There is some good stuff on summoning, a large section on Native American medicine men and shamanic dealings with the dead, a fresh look at many of the old ghost-dealing groups, and a new ability for those people who have had enough with wraiths shouting in their ears.

Very Good Book
I have read several books on Office 2000 and I found that this book is the best book. The main reason I liked this book is that the Authors did a great job by placing the screen shots of the windows after the description of each topic so that the reader can understand easily. The book also covers almost every topic in Microsoft Office 2000 Package. It is a must read book for the people who want to become a master in Office 2000.
