Expansive, if sometimes inaccurate (examples: calling Bill Walton's hometown "La Jolla" instead of the correct "La Mesa;" referring to Jacksonville guard, Rex Morgan, as a forward) account of the greatest dynasty in college basketball history. UCLA fans will truly enjoy the variety of players mentioned from past teams. The material and folklore overshadow a bland writing style. Definitely worth a look.

If you are a big UCLA basketball fan (past or present), you will love this book. It is entertaining, interesting, and full of UCLA history. I have given it to several friends.

If you need basic information on all types of allergies, I recommend this book. It provides a broad range of specific allergies and is user-friendly. Topics include: hay fever, food allergies, asthma and treatment options for all allergies. Johns Hopkins is a leading research hospital in this field. There are good graphics and bullet points to zoom in on specific areas. If you want detailed info on asthma or food allergies, this book is not for you. It only covers the basics. It also includes pointers on finding a good allergist and support groups.

This book is packed with knowledge. American Nation is great for the classroom environment. This book has great stories under "American Lives," which talk about great Americans. Some of which are George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams to name a few. There are many colorful and well-illustrated pictures. This book explains in depth the great events of the United States up until 1877. Pay attention though because this book jumps around with the dates on the different subject areas, but that is so the same subject is covered in one section. This is a fantastic book for a College course. John A Garraty and Mark C. Carnes have done their homework and have put forth one of the best Social Science books I have ever seen.

The book is small but is packed full of a lot of useful information. Kerr describes diverse aspects of the ancient Egyptian civilization featuring such topics as the division and farming of their land, the typical Egyptian family life, their houses and homes, the pharaoh's duties and his court, entertainment, religious beliefs including the afterlife, government and war, and the last Egyptian pyramid built. The inclusion of a concise description of the life of men, women, and children was a nice aspect of the book. Kerr explains that two of the main resons we know so much about life in ancient Egypt is because of the ancient Egyptian artifacts and writings of people who traveled through Egypt at that time. She also briefly explains techniques modern archaeologists use to try to preserve what remains of ancient Egypt. All of the colorful illustrations are clearly explained with small captions and complement the information presented in the easy to read text. The table of contents at the beginning and a glossary of fourteen useful words along with an index at the end are all included in the book. These useful tools help the reader to efficiently and effectively navigate the book. This is a great book with a wide variety of useful information and is written concisely using easy to read language. It would be an excellent resource to help students begin their studies about the ancient Egyptian civilization and possibly interest them into exploring more.

I picked this book up after I read "April 1865" because I wanted to know more about the assassination of Lincoln. The book is a very interesting account of what took place. This is a reprint of a book that originally came out in the 1920's and that made it even more interesting. I enjoyed the book on two fronts. First the author does a very good job of detailing out the plot to kill Lincoln, the actors involved, the reasons behind it, the actual event and then the capture of the assassins.

There is just a great amount of details that, being an American; I am ashamed I did not know. Overall this was not a lone gunman, but a large-scale plot to kill the top three members of the U.S. government at the time. Sure the group performing this assassination was not the best and brightest, but they got the job done. The details of the escape, flight and then capture of Both is also full of detail that really brings the story to a new level. The added information about the capture and punishment of the rest of the group was also very interesting.

On the second front, what I also enjoyed about the book was the view of the 1920's through the writing of the author. When someone writes a book like this, there are bound to be examples and coalitions to the "current" day and in the case of this book it was the 1920's. That was very interesting and an added bonus to the book. Overall I enjoyed this book and learned a great deal from it. I would suggest it.

A dry book, but one with more information than you will ever need to know regarding standardized tests! An excellent reference for all in special education, with honest reviews regarding the strengths and weaknesses of available tests.

I consider this book an interesting tool for an international law class, because of its variety of cases and its handling of matters such as jus cogens, that makes it really didactic and comprehensible. Worth to be have in mind by University professors, students and investigators of this law area.

Mark Wellman lost most of the use of his legs in a mountain climbing fall when he was a young man. This book tells the story of his accident and journey through recovery and development into an elite athlete and outdoor adventurer. It is an adventure story that not only includes exploits such as Wellman's ascents (post-accident!) of the big walls in Yosemite but also his "adventure" of adapting to his situation so he could continue doing the things he loved. Quotes from various characters that Wellman meets during his journey are included in scattered excerpts and add interest to the story. The story slows a little at the end as Wellman finds his way into the nation's limelight, but overall it is an engaging telling of an uplifting story. I also highly recommend this book for persons who have undergone a spinal cord injury (like myself) and are looking at an uncertain future.

After having the opportunity to eat baby back ribs cooked in the Spicy Chipotle Tolect Barbecue Glaze, I tried the receipe myself. While the prep time is long, it is well worth the effort. The only confusing instructions is the receipe for chile puree (page 120). The receipe does not tell you how many chiles to use. I prepared baby back ribs for a family/friend barbecue. Everyone including the guests from Massachusetts raved about the ribs!

I had the fortune of being able to swing both of the DH games, and Notice of Termination is by far the more immediately accessible (for one, it doesn't have pewter minis so while you don't get the coolness of minis, if you're like me you don't have to have anything painted in order to play). With NOT, you scan the rules, set up the boards (so clever, BTW, that they make my head hurt) and start to rack up the kills. All in all, great fun!
