A fantastic and concise history of America.
This book is a very readable, and very unbias look at American History. It presents its subject without overflowing detail, and is very useful in the teaching of American History. A great AP History Text Book, that is also good for the novice historian.

Truely a Work of Art !!!
There was a lacuna in the field of gastroenterology but with the introduction of this masterpiece, that gap too has been filled. Amazing insight and utmost simplicity of presentation has made this a prized posession, at least in my collection and I hope that it will be so for many many people across the globe.

The Small Town Planning Handbook
Published in Hardcover by Amer Planning Assn (1995)
Authors: Thomas L. Daniels, John W. Keller, and Mark B. Lapping
Amazon base price: $50.00
Average review score:

Excellent Reference
I think this is something that every planning and zoning officer of a small community needs. This book is an excellent reference. It gives step by step directions for conducting surveys, writing a mini plan, special ordinance for special issues (such as signs) and more. There are charts and graphs and pictures that help clarify the text.

I am sure that by the size of it and the way it reads this is a text book for a college class somewhere. IT does read a little bit dry, but I'm not sure how much more exciting you can get with law, legalities, procedures and such.

Good information.

Songs of the Saints of India

Authors: John S. Hawley and Mark Juergensmeyer
Amazon base price: $35.00
Average review score:

A skilled rendering of beautiful material
Hawley and Jurgensmeyer compile the jewels of North Indian bhakti poetry in a book that is written (by Hawley) in a scholarly but unpretentious and readable style. The translations (by Hawley and Jurgensmeyer) are beautiful and faithful to the originals, and provide an excellent summary of medieval poetry central to both the Hindu and Sikh traditions.

The Beasts of Kentucky
No, it's not the UK basketball team, it's a collection of giant wildmen, under the control of a vicious master criminal, bent on -- Well, it's never exactly clear what they're bent on, but clear plots have never been part of THE SPIDER, nor are they that important. The important thing, as always, is slam-bang action. This has somew of the most intense action of any SPIDER story. Particularly impressive are Richard Wentworth's run through the mountains to spread the news about the wild-men, and his hand to hand battle at the farmhouse.

A Must Read for Anyone Concerned About Individual Liberties
The author not only takes a stand and expresses an opinion, he backs up his views with specific examples. He dispels many myths about individual liberties and makes a convincing argument why liberty is so essential to our existence. It is somewhat frightening to learn about the very real errosion of our liberty. This book brings all of this to light is a very readable and interesting presentation.

Essential for anyone working with human or computer systems
Systemantics is a humerous look at the world of systems and how they don't work. It is a book of tongue in cheek rules that are not only funny but true. John Gall used humour to point out the fatal flaws in our approach to systems of every sort.

Thanks for the memories!
I remember watching this show when I was young, one of the few shows my parents allowed us to watch. It was a great way to learn some history about specific political events and prominent citizens with a contemporary "news reporter" format. Definitely more fun to watch than the boring historical documentaries of the time. The teleplays are a great way to relive those years and events, especially in light of the continued erosion of civil liberties and public derision of people with different viewpoints. It would be nice to buy the entire series on DVD with the complete teleplays!
