Well, Lynda Weinman's brother wrote a chapter....
Superficial at best, this book is not worth the entry fee. Unless you have a burning desire to sample the writing style of the famous Ms. Weinman's sibling or learn how to use Sausage Software Java utilities, look elsewhere

Out of print??
I can't believe this book is out of print now! Rarely do you find the expertise and clear writing that is found here. I found it easy to read, easy to follow, and brimming with information.

If you are able to get your hands on this book, it's definitely worth your time. If nothing else, as an example of coding whiz Ms. Brown's fine editorial efforts.

Dont waste your money...
This book has one over-riding theme repeated constantly: The White Man is always wrong and the Indian is and has always been an innocent victem. I won't list details, but the lack of objectivity and obvious implications to the promote the theme are insulting. Although the book may contain some valuable and useful facts about Native Americans and their lifestyles, it is impossible to determine how authentic any of them are due to the overt propaganda that is being constantly asserted.

History in Pictures
A beautiful book that pleases the mind and eyes. Very authoritative and full of historical and anecdotal information relating to the Native Americans. Begins with pre-Columbus and continues through the ages to the 90's. A must read for anyone interested in Native american culture and history. The photographs and illustrations are priceless and well worth the price of the book. Add this to your history collection, younsters enjoy browsing at the wonderful prints of paintings and illustrations. An easy read whose pictures entertain and captivate the imagination.

A pretty good overview of worldwide special forces
This book is a nice starter for anyone interested in the different special forces groups all over the world. Famous groups such as the Navy Seals, GSG-9, and SAS are well-covered; and some decent information is given for lesser-known groups such as the special forces of India and Brazil. Hong Kong's various world-famous special forces groups (G-4, SDU, etc) are completely missing, which I find really weird.

_____The book also goes into some detail on the various weapons and vehicles used by Special Forces groups, without going into too much detail. Again, the point of this book is to give an overview of special forces groups. If you are looking for in-depth coverage of particular groups, look elsewhere.

Fair
This is a pretty good book. It has 3 main sections: one on special forces from different countries, one on special forces operations, and one on equipment.

This book provided some helpful hints and useful lists. But, the practice tests were extremely difficult and somewhat arcane. I used it as a backup book to help me prepare.

Decent at best.
The book is decent. But is not a great text book. It's highlihgted formulas, etc... are very helpful, but it doesn't seem to explain a lot of things in a way to make them easily understandable. I have used many different math books, and I would not use this one unless you are teaaching extremely bright students.

UNITED STATES "One" / IRAQ "Zero"
This is not bad for the layman with an Interest in current events in the Middle-east. This book is by no means is an answer to all, but a very good crash course in the regional players and politics. The book only traces back the historical trail of these resent events to just prior to Desert Shield/Storm and does not go into detail of prior "blowback" to the current situation in the gulf. The book goes into some overview on WMD with emphases on chemicals/biological and the SCUD delivery system. Also all the major weapons, equipment and tactics of the Iraqi/U.S. possible upcoming land and Air campaigns are covered. As final word this book is by no means for the professional researcher or historian but for the average "Joe blow" glued to the TV watching this highly possible conflict with Iraq unfold on CNN/FOX news.

General Overview
I think the only current author that puts out more books then this one is Stephen King although King comes up with new ideas. This was a sale table buy and is not bad for a few dollars. It basically gives you the overall view of some of the biggest / greatest battles of the war. It has a run down of who was involved, the leading commander, and the size of the force and then a good general description of the battle. We also get a number of maps and a good amount of photos. The best part of the book for me was the clear definition of the Krusk area battles and the large desert battles in Libya.

Overall, there is nothing really new here. The book is a nice overview that would be a nice primer if you wanted to learn more about any one facet of the war.

An Unsurprising Disappointment
Upon opening up a copy of Samurai Warriors, I was surprised to see a photograph of Sakamoto Ryoma, a famous samurai. I thought that perhaps Ryoma was now beginning to receive the wider recognition which was his due. When I began to read the caption, however, I was stunned. "Nameless samurai photographed in 1865." I assumed I was reading the wrong caption. Unfortunately, I wasn't. In disgust, I closed the book. That the photo was taken in 1866 might be overlooked, but "nameless samurai" cannot. I wondered how such a blatant mistake could be printed, until recalling how historically misrepresented have been Japanese history and culture by nonJapanese writers. This brings to mind a passage in the Preface to my RYOMA - Life of a Renaissance Samurai (Ridgeback Press), the only biographical novel of Sakamoto Ryoma in English: "It is a cultural loss that an historical figure of such magnificent stature has failed to gain the full attention of the Western world for nearly a century and a half. It is a tragedy that the general publicĀ¹s sources of information about...the samurai have... been travesties of Japanese history and culture... ." Let us hope that other writers take my lead.

Pass on this one
A very disappointing book. My first clue was the caption on the second page for "Chishungura". The correct name is "Chushingura". Similar errors riddle the book ("Ikaurga", "Shikiby"). There are numerous illustrations, but many are poorly focused or obviously digitized at a low resolution. This one is not worth spending your money on.

Don't believe those other reviews. This book is great!
Fully illustrated with fascinating color prints and engravings on most every page. Period photographs. A wealth of historical information. I leave this book on my coffee table and everyone opens it up and can't put it down. Grossly underpriced on the Amazon[.com] Marketplace.
