out-dated & boring
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone for three main reasons: it's outdated, having been written in 1975; it promotes infidelity by encouraging a woman to choose a man, married, taken or not and then advises on how to seduce him into your bed; it's more about women than what a man wants and how a woman can drive her man wild in bed. My husband found the same to be true of Masterson's How to Drive Your Woman Wild in Bed. Not much good information, outdated and boring except for maybe a hormone-driven teenager.
Great ideas for keeping your love life fresh!!
After reading this book I learned so many little things that you can do to spice up your sex life, and keep it from getting stale.
VERY SENSUAL WAY TO LOVEMAKING
This author has worked on publications dealing with sexual topics for many years. He edited Penthouse, mayflower, Forum and the Swedish pornography magazine called Private. He has also written many books on sexual behavior. I have seen and read many of his books and I find them all interesting and educating to both men and women.
This books contents:
1)How to tease and please your lover.
2)How to play out your fantasies.
3)Seventy sexy things you can do to please you lover(for both men and women).
4)Erotic techniques for absolute pleasure.
5)How to be a gloriously wicked blaze of sexual extacy for you lover.
AND MUCH MUCH MORE!!!!
This book is written in plain english and easy to understand and follow. It does contain some pretty strong and blunt words, so it might not be for sensative readers.

This is Ridiculous
I purchased this book hoping to surprise my husband some evening. I read a few pages and then leafed quickly through the book. Simply put, it is soft porn. There is very little instruction - unless you call exploits ( written a bit too professionally for these so-called "candid women") instruction. No, I have not read the entire book. It is hard to tell one page from the others. The lowest rating possible is one star - this book does not come up to meet the scale. As I do not want porn in my house, I have burned the book. Unless you have matches nearby, don't waste your money.
Pornographic but Redeeming
My earlier review of this book has changed due to the fact I don't feel it(review) was fully responsible. While I personally was able to handle this book which is in no way medical, but rather uses street slang and extremely graphic depictions, I previously neglected to warn the reader it easily could be considered pornography, thus, as a Christian, viewing pornography is not something I should be promoting. As with all of Masterton's books, I think the the potential reader would make a more informed choice by paging through one of his books first, then making up their own mind. As for me, I found some use and enjoyment in it, but then again, pornography has no lure for me. Buy at your own discretion.
Open Minded and Exploring
At first I was surprised with the language use in this book but as I read on (with an open mind) it didn't bother me. When my boyfriend saw what I was reading he became interested, so I read it aloud. We both found it to be amusing, open and interesting. It gave me some wild ideas and in reading it aloud to my boyfriend I found out which examples he thought were sexy and provoking. I think that it is definitely worth reading! If you aren't comfortable with your own sexuality and aren't open minded, then this book is not for you. Have fun with it and learn to explore yourself!

This Book Deserves No Stars!
This book was crude. The author wrote about an incestous relationship.
I'll never buy anything by this author again.

Crude and Distasteful
I found this book to be crude and distasteful. Mr. Masterton uses many street/slang terms for body parts and sexual acts. I found the use of such trash language to be demeaning and disgusting. This book may have some good information, but how can you find it through all the trash. I sent the book back without finishing it, because I found it read more like a trash novel then a self-help book.
X-rated but Interesting
No doubt about it, Graham Masterton's sex books are not comparable to Dr. Ruth's in the aspect that her books tend to be general, technical and medical sounding, where as Masterton holds nothing back, just like he proposes for a healthy and exciting sex life should be unrestrained! The author quotes bed-room revelations from many men and women, and language runs the gammut. As for me, I've read several books by this author, and due to the pornographic nature of his sex instructionals I have had to reconsider my earlier reviews which I now feel weren't fully responsible since, as a Christain, pornography is certainly not something I should be promoting. In short, page through a book and decide for yourself.

Hit and miss
This collection of short horror stories is certainly a hit and miss affair - the 3 standout tales in the book are "The Secret Shih-Tan", "Fairy Story" and "Suffer Kate" - but even these are overly predictable. The rest of the stories fall below average. If you're looking for Masterton in his top form, this isn't the first place I'd recommend looking.

A GOOD BOOK TO THE FINISH!!!
I loved this book eventhough Manitou was better. This book is great for true horror readers. I have read a couple of Masterton's books and though this is not one of the better, it is still a good story from the Master of Horror!!

Entertaining, although not what it could have been.
The 2nd book in the Jim Rook series is certainly an improvement on the first, but still fails to live up to Masterton's earlier work. The writing style is crisp, if overly simple and some ideas are great, but the characters aren't fleshed out as much as one would hope. The final scene which features a body part being used as a football was very quirky and is worth the price of admission. The Native American mythology added some more intrigue to the tale. If you read the first and liked it, this is a fun continuation of the story. The ending will leave you wanting to read the 3rd in the series, which I certainly plan to do! I just hope they keep getting better.

Left me cold
My first read of a Masterson book, and I am not sure I will pursue his others. The premise is an interesting one, but I found most of the characters unsympathetic -- including the main one, Jim Rook. The writing wasn't a complete turn-off, but did get annoying in spots. As for the hands-on-the-frozen-rail episode, Mr. Masterson obviously doesn't believe that less is more.
Get an editor
I've only read one other book by Masterton and was very impressed with it. Walkers was a very intertaining story, so when I saw this I thought I'd give it a try. The story itself isn't too bad, kind of predictable, but O.K. However about halfway through the story the whole suspense factor is shot. Everything is given away and the rest of the book is just clean up. One thing that really bothered me was the total lack of proofreading in the story. There were so many typo's and obvious errors it made the story hard to read at times. There is absolutely no punctuation in the story. Ever Mr. is Mr and every contraction is without its apostrophe.

Interesting idea let down by paper-thin characters
When taking Masterton's other horror books into consideration, "The Doorkeepers" is a decidedly average novel. The idea of parallell worlds isn't exactly original, but its presentation in this novel is interesting, although let down severely by poorly developed characters and unlikely situations. The only reason we have for liking the main character is that he shares a special relationship with animals, Masterton doesn't really expand past that. The other characters are forgettable and the villains are stock standard. The book ends with an unexciting climax. A let down.

the weakest book in the rook series.
My intro to GRAHAM MASTERTON and the ROOK series was SNOWMAN,
a book I enjoyed quite a bit and it made me want to read the other books in the ROOK series. So far, I've read SWIMMER, ROOK
and THE TERROR and ROOK is easily my
least favorite so far. I enjoyed the book, but it really does
have some major flaws. First of all, this SMOKE spirit is kind
of stupid..and annoying. He doesn't want JIM ROOK to tell any-
body about him, yet he shows up in his classroom and taunts him
there, right in front of the students. I mean, these kids may not
be too bright, but anybody would figure out that ROOK wasn't
merely talking to himself! I think the reason MASTERTON wrote it
this way was so ROOK's students could get involved more in the
story! I also think the identity of the
killer is revealed too soon in the book; indeed' it's actually
revealed on the front flap of the book and this takes away from
any suspense! JIM ROOK seems to accept very quickly that he can
see ghosts and spirits! There are other minor flaws, also. I did
enjoy the book and there are some gruesome things that go on
during the story, but this series got much better, especially
with THE TERROR, which I just got through reading and is now
my favorite book of the series.

Just a quick read
I've read about seven books by Graham Masterton and realised that only a few of them are really worth reading. It's hard to believe that this book is by the author of "Mirror," which was excellent. This is the second Jim Rook book that I read and it's just as dull as "Rook". Apart from "Mirror," the only other good books I've read by him are "Ritual" and "Death Trance." His short stories collection "Faces of Fear" had a few good stories. Don't waste your time with this one. If you want an author of horror who's EVERY book is really good, Richard Laymon is the best.
