An incisive account of British empiricism
Reading the empiricists is a rare treat. Because of their style, Locke, Berkeley, and Hume seem to be more accessible to the novice and general reader than much of philosophy. However, the three essays included in this volume are welcome additions to the Oxford University Press's "Past Masters" series, and anyone reading this book will gain a greater appreciation for the empriricits. Highly recommended.

A wonderful resource - full of creative ideas!
I love this book, and highly recommend it! It provides a quick history of each of the holidays along with great suggestions for celebrating creatively and meaningfully. Senseman has included loads of fun ideas for crafts, recipes, and games. Love the reproducibles! I especially like how she shows how God can be the focus of each holiday celebration.

This book would also make a great gift for fun families, school teachers, homeschoolers, or Sunday school teachers!

The Complete Book of Speech Communication: Survival Packet
As a former part-time college instructor beginning her first year teaching high school, I found this workbook to be a valuable resource. It is filled with enjoyable activities that appeal to high school students and also meet curriculum requirements. I also found it to be helpful with "filler activities" for those awkward moments when one can't dismiss class and all work has been completed. I strongly endorse this book for teachers of speech and theatre.

Breaking new ground
An exceptional book. As someone who works in the health care field, I found Ms Locke's case studies, analysis, and commentary to be relevant and precise, yet imbued with an overaching humanism. Ms Locke notes in her introduction that she has been on both sides of health care model, both as a client, and as a nurse, teacher, and later consultant. This experience is evident in her sensitive approach to the subject matter, and has encouraged me to recommend the book not only to my colleagues in the field, but to those in my greater community who could benefit from her insights into loss, its manifestations, and the strategies for managing it effectively. A great resource for the professional and the layperson; to that end, anyone has had to cope with loss.

A nice conclusion.
I thought this was a pretty good conclusion to Vampire Heart. It ended rather quickly, but that's to be expected in a two-book miniseries. And the end certainly proved the point that what goes around comes around. I would reccomend this book to teenagers who like vampire stories, but anyone older would probably find the story too tame.

A must read!
Great book- educates as it entertains. The Dragon's Tale gives young readers a window into the southwest and the architectural ideas of Frank Lloyd Wright in a playful children's mystery format. The beautiful illustrations capture the feel of Taliesin West, Arizona, Wright's winter studio/school where the book is set.

Anyone thinking of visiting the southwest with children should pick up a copy of this (or the first book in the series, the Case of the Missing Cocatiels) for the flight/drive out!

Drum Gahu!: A Systematic Method for an African Percussion Piece
Published in Paperback by White Cliffs Media Co (1991)
Authors: David Locke and Larry W. Smith
Amazon base price: $25.95
Average review score:

For both the player and the scholar
Drum Gahu is another marvel produced by the leader of Ewe drumming in this country, David Locke. Locke systematicly takes the reader through the patterns, playing techniques, and descriptions of each instrument; the bell, the rattle, kagan, kidi, sogo, and the master drum. In addition, he provides the reader with execises for the playing of these instruments. The text is easy to read, but the musical notation is a bit small. I highly recommend buying the Drum Gahu tapes that are available. The tapes are of Locke performing most of the musical examples in the book. It also has an excerpt of Gahu being performed in Africa; the real thing! I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about Ewe drumming, and to anyone interested in learning to play Gahu.

Drum Gahu: An Introduction to African Rhythm

worth the effort
This is a patient but tremendously technical introduction to a very complex musical tradition. The author studied with and quotes several fine and well-known Ghanaian drummers; the text is overwhelmed with detailed and difficult musical examples (performed on the enclosed CD). With time and effort, the lessons can form the foundation for a very rewarding African drumming experience.

An essay concerning human understanding, 1690

Worth Re-Cognising
Any search for this text will result in a plethora of commentaries upon it, whilst it itself seems almost doomed to take second place. The importance of this work to philosophy cannot be underestimated; Descartes is held in common perception to be the figure who changed the course of philosophy. Whilst it is true he may have dipped his toes in uncharted waters, Locke was the first to plunge in. Here we find human understanding stripped to its first principles and from there rebuilt in such a fashion as to purge the presumptions of our age. Locke recommends modesty to the philosopher and thinker throughout and in our current times this message might need restated. In a world, which owes so much to the United States Constitution, it would be appropriate for us all to see what it owed its own origins to and be recalled to values of liberty, modesty and reason in a way which does not rush headlong into a catastrophe of pride.

Fallout is great!
Although Fallout is in a comic book format it is serious history. The portraits are accurate. The events leading up to the bomb are covered in depth.

The account of the government's digraceful treatment of Oppenheimer is chilling, reminding us of how the people at the top here were much like the leaders in the USSR.
