A refreshing counterpoint to AIDS-teria
A great collection of essays from people in the front lines of emerging sexuality, this book is a good read for anyone who wants a more balanced view of contemporary sexuality. The essays discuss the science of AIDS and other STD transmission, strategies for coping/prevention, truly risky behaviors versus "perceived" risky behaviors, and sexuality from the perspectives of women, men, gays, straights, and youth.

There are parts of the book where the services of a better copyeditor might have been valuable, but that's not enough to be a real problem - just stay with it when it meanders a bit, you'll get the point eventually.

Though the pace of science makes some of the material (I read the 1996 edition) a tad dated, it is still a good counterweight to the unreasonable fearmongering of sexual repressionists and the naive media. Their conscious or unconscious "disinformation" concerning the very real, but extremely limited, AIDS phenomenon has negatively influenced the thinking too many otherwise sensible folks.

Nice Collection of Stoker's Less Known
This is a really nifty collection of Stoker's lesser known works. I contains numerous short stories from different periods of his career as well as some from Sir Henry Irving.

It also contains the original ending to "The Jewel of the Seven Stars." This portion alone is enough to purchase the book in my opinion.

If you are a fan of Bram Stoker or like Victorian/Edwardian literature, this one is for you.

Out-dated but fun guide to the Marvel Universe
The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe trade paperbacks reprint the deluxe editions of the comic book from the mid '80s.

Out-dated now, these guides were mandatory reading for those interested in the machinations and sub-plots of the pre-90's Marvel universe. For scholars of the modern Marvel universe, you must be aware of the plots of the last 10 years or so to be able to understand how characters could go from the bios listed here to where they are today.

Each character is highlighted by a full-body portrait by some of comicdom's then-brightest artists. (Unless, as in the case of the Midgard Serpent, the character was too large for a full rendition.) Quite a few up-and-coming artists started work in those pages, too.
Each character, in addition to a full portrait, is treated to a page or more of concise biography, and if the character's history is long and varied, action shots representing various stages of their career are shown.

Unfortunately, several characters were lost in the reprinting process- a check between the original issues and the trade paperbacks reveals several characters that Marvel felt they should suppress (such as the androgynistic Cloud). Also, several characters' biographies were shortened, while typographical and typesetting errors were left intact... adding up to a less than accurate reference work.

For comic historians and amateur artists wanting quick reference to characters, these guides are valuable- but to a casual reader or someone puzzling over a storyline in a back issue, it leaves much to be desired.

Covers a broad range of topics
Seems to cover a lot, from networking to graphics to XML & CGI. I was surprised that the chaper on CGI was so short, given that its not covered at all in Professional Perl also by Wrox press. Also the book was a lot shorter, but still long at 650 pages.

Four stars for its size
One of the beginning books i've read. Lots of tips for such a small book. Surprisingly good photos. Generally covers everything for start up, buy this book when buying a 20 gallon start up kit and you should be off to a good start.

This book might help you build a decent chronical.
The Hunter game is a nice addition to anyones WoD collection. This book can help one to build better characers. You know onesa that can actually live for past 60 seconds.

Misnomer, but still good
When I purchased this book, I was expecting something along the lines of a a player's guide or such. What I got, on the other hand, was a sourcebook chock full of information on supernaturals around the world. Be careful that you know what this is before you purchase it. It's an excellent book and I liked it very much, but it was not what I had in mind for a survival guide.

Good book, full of potential story ideas.
I liked this book. Its written from the point of view of the hunters, a different one for each section. The book does not have any game mechanics, its pure story. It begins with a few tips for novice hunters, something you should get your players to read through. Then it goes on to describe each continent. It spends a lot of time discussing the world outside of North America, so if your planning on running a game in a different country then this is the book for you. I liked the fact that since the information is given out by hunters, it is full of various facts that are completely not true, so your players can read through the book and still not have any of the real information. Full of great story potential and well written. A good buy if your going to run a hunter's game.

The screenplay really had too many holes in it.
All of the Batman movies had the weakest screenplays ever written for them. Batman Forever was no exception. The screenplay as written by Lee and Janet Batcher, was not the best that they could have done and Aliva Goldsman did a lot of rewrites to it, as a result the movie novel's author, Peter David was constantly frustrated that he was writing a novel with a lot of rewrites going into it, and the experience was not the most satisfying one for him. Not surprisingly the finished book is very difficult to read, and not very good.
The movie itself however is a bit easier to watch and better then many give credit for, because of it's colorful production and mostly solid performances of the cast.

Decent
Well, the movie was not up to par with the two first classic Tim Burton Bat-flicks, but the book is good. The film was hardly a serious approach. Fluffy, with Carrey extremelly silly and unfunny and with Tommy Lee Jones simply One-Dimensional. However, in this book, as absurd it may sound, Edward Nygma (Carrey's character) is presented as a sad person, who is frustrated by his ruthless boss and wants to payback as the Riddler. As for Tommy Lee Jones' character (Two-Face), he is presented as a tragic figure who is not a true villain but a victim of the circumstances. All in all, the book although follows the script of the film, it is a lot better, and makes me think that the reason that this film sucked was not its scriptwriter but its director.

Excellent! A must for Batman fans.
This book blows away the movie. I could not put this book down. I'm serious; read it.
