Reading this book convinced me to go to work in Catholic education. Before you even get to the long statistical analysis of student performance in Catholic schools, the book includes a nice history of Catholic schools in the United States, which, as a Catholic school parent but never a student, I found fascinating and, in a way, evangelizing for me.

The statistical analysis gives proof to the claims of solid performance of Catholic school students, and it gives lie to criticisms that Catholic schools shortchange minority and disadvantaged students--those students tend to perform better in Catholic schools than in other schools, the study finds.

Among the reasons for the success of Catholic schools, the book suggests the following: expectations of student success, individual attention, and a supportive environment and community that is created by students, staff, and parents.

For supporters or critics of Catholic schools, this is an important book.

While this collection was designed with children 9-12 in mind, I have found that adults and older teens really like it too. It has a nice selection of poetry, is readable, is presented in a very attractive way, and is just plain fun to read. I shared my copy of the book with high school juniors, and they loved it.

Like many Americans, I didn't know much about our country's principles of government or its legal system. This book helped me to become more knowledgeable about both. I admit, this is not reading I would choose to curl up with in front of the fire; this was part of a requirement for my MBA. However, I will remember what I've learned in this text long after my class ends. Having previously been clueless about the legal system, it is now exhilarating to read about, say, how the nine US Supreme Court Justices are dealing with the aftermath of the Gore vs. Bush debacle and actually understand what is going on. The chapters are well-organized and easy to understand. There are even helpful study tips and ways to brief a legal case in the beginning of the text. After completing this book, I not only feel better equipped to handle business decisions, but also feel empowered and enlightened for better understanding our great country.

The photographer uses vistas and angles that few have ever seen. His use of color and light paint the Statue in unique combinations.

While the photography alone makes the book a treasure, the story of the restoration is captivating. The personal perspectives and dedication of those involved in the restoration, give the reader a whole new appreciaiton for this massive undertaking.

I'm proud to keep this book on my coffee table. Friends who pick it up, don't just comment about the incredible photography, they sit and read the stories and history. I've developed a great new respect for the Great Lady Liberty.

This book the best I have seen for the history of the airship. It covers the same ground as most airship histories, but covers it in more detail leading to a very different interpretaton of the events. Just one example: The Mongofiler brothers had no idea that their balloon ran on hot air. They thought that their smoky fire produced another kind of light gas, similar to hydrogen. Another great feature of this book are the number of direct quotes from original sources. You really appreciate history when you hear from those who lived it. The book is well illustrated, with drawings where no photos exist, and with tons of photographs. Many airships that are illustrated with drawings in other books are shown as photographs in this one, making the ships all the more real to the modern reader. There is a lot of information on modern airship developments, too. All and all, an amazing book. It manages both wide and deep coverage of the subject.

The book some what confusing the first time you read it. Stories, beautiful illustrations, dreams, and poems are mixed into a exotic taperistry of mystery. The book is version of short stories which talk about of Merlin's dreams and his time of awakenings. To set your mind, heart, and soul to imagings uncaptured for long time read this book. For remeberance of knights, dragons, ladies, and mages it is a collection that you won't forget.

This is an incredible introduction to economic history. It is clearly written, and it is easy for the non-economist to read and enjoy. If you have any interest in economic history, then this is a must read.

This book is a good reference for GMC applications, it shows a lot of real examples and the steps to be followed to develop a control strategy. Another important issue is about the importance of a controller based in a nonlinear model when compared with tradicionals controllers such as manual control and PID. This book is a rich reference to understand and comprehend these issues.
