My Only Disappointment from this otherwise wonderful writer
Lee Martin is, in my opinion, one of the best mystery writers of the last 20 years of the twentieth century. Her character, Deb Ralston, is both engaging and does what reaches me: uses her own religious faith (as it is in the process of developing, in this series of books) to help her solve the crimes she is working on. This is one of the rare Police Procedural series where the protagonist is married, has a family, and what happens with them is equally important to the plot.
Unfortunately, this book was the one disappointment I had in this series. There is no question that this book was a personal testimony of Ms. Martin, as she is/was working through her own experience of being molested while a child.
But because this was so personal a story, the story itself became a screed, rather than a great story (which categorizes all of her other books.)
I'm sure it would be helpful to those who are working through their own negative experiences as children. But as a mystery story, it was not a good offering.

Vintage Deb Ralston....this is a book that is difficult to
find, even at a rare bookseller.

In it, Deb, who should be just relaxing after foot-surgery, grudgingly agrees to help out temporarily in the Sex Crimes Unit.
She gets involved solving the real reason why a popular sixteen year old would leap from a balcony.

This is tough work for Deb, who's own somewhat dysfunctional childhood keeps surfacing, especially when her younger sister Rhonda turns up, like a bad penny. When Deb's well-meaning mother and a friend of Deb's daughter Becky (the friend has turned to prostitution) are woven into the story, the tale becomes cathartic for victims of sexual abuse, and gives the reader a sense of how difficult it is for the police who try to
solve these cases.

I found it to be an excellent of Lee Martin's writing of some of her own experiences through the eyes of her heroine, much like her other works, and felt the somber tone was in keeping with the nature of these crimes.

Read it if you can get your hands on it!

Snots with cultural aspirations
Books like this are produced to sooth the inferiority complex of people who know their dealing with an illiterate medium that requires no thought, one which any imbecile E! entertainment viewer can experience. This volume can only serve to further inflate the self importance of trendy "autuer" directors & celebrities.

Useful tool for reviews and film information.
I found this book to be of use, not only in looking up material on fairly recent films, but as a reference source for some very interesting writing on the subject. I wish there had been more of the earlier pieces, done by critics who are now better known, but I think this volume will suit anyone truly interested in movies of the past few decades. For better or worse, film is the dominant art form of this century, and I welcome a book that serves not merely as a source of dry information, but as a starting point for discussion.

Close, But No Cigar...
While the ideas and concepts presented are solid, they definitely fall short in the entertaining department. As the title sys, the focus is on facts, not fun. Homeschoolers will not appreciate the hodge-podge of traditional classsroom-oriented activities that involve more than one or two students, while classroom teachers may find some of the "same old stuff" presented in a new way. However, there are some clever ideas and interesting games for presenting multiplication tables; they just borderline on the mundane, in my opinion.

The bottom line is this: If you buy this book, your kids will learn multiplication without a doubt. They will glean some very helpful hints and they will be able to tackle even the most difficult problems...they just won't have alot of fun doing it, and you may have to spend more prep time that you want. I don't know about you, but I already work with a math curriculum, so I don't want to use a supplement that calls for the same amount of prep time as my curriculum calls for. I also want something my kids can grab onto in a fun, meaningful way. If you are just looking for something to reinforce multiplication at home (whether or not you are not a homeschooler) I would definitely look elsewhere. The activities presented here are for classrooms, not home learning environments.

A better choice is Meish Goldish's Making Multiplication Easy - absolutely one of the best supplements around on this topic.

3 Stars. Could have been better for both teacher and student.

Cute ideas but disappointing
I had high hopes for this book when I ordered it. I was looking for fresh ideas to teach my second and third grade students multiplication. The book is cute and has many ideas for memorizing multiplication facts (flash cards, poems, games). However, it is light on ideas to teach students concepts of multiplication. The book is good, but didn't have enough substance for me.

So-so Run-of-the-mill Murder Mystery
This one was a quick read. It seemed to be trying to break out of the mold of standard "gimmiky" murder mysteries but failed to do so. The protagonist detective seemed to want to address personal home-life problems but this subplot never is developed. I'm sure it is a continuing theme throughout a series of books and I confess to not having read any others so maybe I am not being fair. Still, each book should stand on its own and I couldn't help feeling I was missing something. The identity of the killer was so obvious that I was sure I must be proven wrong in the end. Even the detective had it figured out with at least 40 pages to go. Perhaps that was the author's intent however, the result was a less-than-stunning conclusion.

Not a comprehensive book for SOC design
The book explains the fundamentals for design and methodology of SOCs. It also addresses the design reuse concerns. However, the book does not cover practical examples of SOC design and does not explain the difference between ASICs and SOCs.

Disappointed
I choose these e-docs because of ¡®Amazon¡¯ has recommended it.
The result was very shameful. This documents does not tell a new idea.
I think Amazon need more concern about his recommendation.
The cost was also very expensive, just 9 pages for 9 dollars.

9 pages, are you kidding?
Someone reviewing this said something along the lines of "edocs are not intended to be comprehensive." That's not a real quote, just a summary. This is nonsense; for example, I bought a best-seller on the Middle East by Thomas Friedman in e-book format because I am in Moscow and printed materials can be expensive. I got 100% of the book and it was more than 9 pages long. I can't believe that this book on an important topic is on a best-seller list, having little of substance.

Seems more like a ad for Booz Allan
The theme is very important. I spent [money] on a trivial intro to a serious issue. This gives digital publishing a bad name. Perhaps they could publish the background research for their editorial for free somewhere else.

Not good for beginners
My wife and I had a lot of trouble understanding this book. It does not give enough basic rules before starting the lessons, plus it does not use Hangul at all.

Beginning Korean
Excellent content but the Romanization makes the book difficult to use and compromises the text's value. This book could be improved by publishing a version in Hangul/English in the style of "College Korean" by Rogers, You, and Richards.

Lee Martin's horrible writing is more deadly than her gunmen
After reading this book, I was left with no other option, but to attempt on swallowing my own tongue. I really have no desire to read another Lee Martin novel, and I'm in prison. Women western writers are about as wanted as Louis Farakhan at a Merle Haggard concert.
