Debby Mayne's "Sunshine Harvest"
Debby Mayne's "Sunshine Harvest" stands out in this anthology with a tale of deeply inspirational romance. She has painted a colorful backdrop with the citrus groves, migrant workers and tropical Florida locale. Her heroine takes us through a gamut of emotions after her father dies and she must summon the strength to hold his dream together while dealing with his loss. But what I liked best about this story was the hero! Daniel is a sensitive, intelligent, spiritual leading man, and I did some swooning along with Anna as I got to know him. Debby Mayne writes with a very visual stroke; "Sunshine Harvest" would make a stunning and romantic movie!

Harvest Home Anthology -- ONLY BELIEVE
In the fourth novella of the Harvest Home Anthology, talented author, Janet Spaeth, weaves an emotional romance filled with love for God, family, and the Dakota Territory of 1879. ONLY BELIEVE shows the hard work and faith of two people, Catherine and Micah, who fall in love in the midst of trials they both face as they harvest the wheat crop. Woven into the story are touches of the humorous talent of this endearing author. Janet uses the embroidery of the bible verse, 'Be not afraid, only believe,'(Mark 5:36), as a memorable setting, along with that of the beautiful prairie of the Dakota Territory, for this wonderful, heartwarming harvest story of true love. I could not put down the Harvest Home Anthology from Barbour until I finished Janet Spaeth's novella, ONLY BELIEVE. I know you will enjoy Catherine and Micah's love story as much as I did. And that like me, you will remember to -- be not afraid and only believe -- for miracles in your life.

Harvest of Love
A very well-written decent story for everyone of any age. It was easy to read and to relax with. I would recommend this story to everyone. It takes you back to days of the American Settlers when times were simple. It is refreshing to read and to escape the confusing, busy, and complicated days of today.

Positively comforting and validating...
I absolutely needed to read this book when I did which is saying something itself. The stories shared with Ms. Lawson and the beauty of the way they were presented in the book were comforting. This is just one more validation that our loved ones who have passed still continue to love us after physical life.

Healing Visitations
Lee Lawson's "Visitations from the Afterlife/True Stories of Love and Healing" is indeed a special book that will open up hearts; touch buried memories; and enrich lives through the soul and spirit. The true stories submitted to her anthology are from around the world; they speak of the universal longing inside and tell us that we are not alone in our visitations by loved ones who've crossed over. It's illuminating to learn it's a more common occurance than we've ever realized.

Her book allows us the freedom to express our unique experiences at long last. She gives us permission to discuss our private memories with family and friends and all without the guardedness we've hidden behind thinking we were alone in our visitations. Bravo to Lee for enlarging our spiritual awareness; giving credence to our experiences; and acknowledging what we've always known: Love is eternal and love will heal a broken heart.

I guarantee the reader will be touched by these revealing love letters and heartfelt stories, if not healed in the process. The reader also gets to enjoy the extraordinary beauty of Lee's artwork from the front cover--throughtout the book.

Will leave you with a smile
This book is wonderful for all ages! If you love Chicken Soup, and other books that are filled with personal stories, then you'll love Visitations from the Afterlife. This book made me truly believe in the afterlife, and whenever I start to doubt that there's no such thing, I just pick up this book. It's great to read at night right before you go to bed!

The best
Of all the many books I have read on Bruce Lee I think this biography is far and away the best. The previous reviewer reflected my thought exactly, that the author, Bruce Thomas, is "respectful but not caught up in hero worship". I would add that this is the only Bruce Lee book I have read that manages to walk that line. Bruce Thomas clearly has a personality and spirituality that is mature enough to have captured and integrated the essence of Bruce Lee. The biography is well-researched and detailed but this is more than a biography...it is a great book.

Wonderful Treatment of A Uniquely Talented Man
When one comes across a biography purporting to be about the late, great Bruce Lee, one must ask oneself: "why is the author writing a book on this man?". If you conclude that he has something to gain, say, by revising a history of which he was a part, then you should probably steer clear of such a book. Thankfully, the author Bruce Thomas was not a part of Bruce Lee's life and so he has no vested interest in rewriting this now-legendary past. Rather, in his book, Thomas tells us a little about each important phase of Lee's life: his boyhood in Hong Kong, streetfightin' teenage years, emigration to Seattle, development of his evolving art and philosophy of Jeet Kune Do, struggles breaking into the film business, and eventual mass recognition and appeal as an international celebrity. The book also chronicles Lee's last days, shedding light on his recent out of character behavior (drug abuse, adultery) with brief but insightful speculation regarding what could have killed him. Unlike other books, in Fighting Spirit, Thomas is very respectful of Bruce's memory, yet he does not get caught up in hero worship. The facts are presented as is, with the implicit assumption that the reader is intelligent enough to make what he or she will of them without any embellishment whatsoever on the author's part. This is, to my mind, the best biography in publication on Bruce Lee.

Buy this book!...
Very detailed, very insightful, most interesting of all the books on Bruce Lee's life. A must-read for anyone who wants to know (or know more) about Bruce Lee.

My Perfect Deck!!
When you first start reading Tarot, people tell you that eventually you will find "YOUR" deck--the one that suits you perfectly and feels "right." While I was in, of all places, New Orleans (a favorite city) I found this deck. I adore everything about the deck. Using Hallowe'en symbolism to represent the classic Tarot elements is a work of incredible "rightness." Even though Kipling West substitutes the "traditional" elements (balls=pumpkins, for example) she still uses appropriately similar Hallowe'en type things that match up with the "archetypes."

Another great thing about this deck is that even though she uses the Halloween symbols, they are very clearly based on the traditional placements & elements from one of the oldest decks ever-- the Rider Waite Tarot--the one commissioned by the Society of the Golden Dawn over a hundred years ago. But unlike the Rider Waite-- which many people dislike for being bland and boring, the Halloween Tarot is new and interesting. Those of you who started with Rider Waite will find a lot of similarity in the decks, but enough difference to make your second Tarot more "you" and less "everyone else."

One of my favorite things about this deck is a very personal one-- the cat on every card, who acts as a sort of guide to the emotion/meaning of that card, looks just like my cat, Tituba. So this deck seems to have been made for me.

STILL-- even if you aren't lucky enough to have a curly tailed black cat, if you like colorful, vivid Tarot cards which are a little different from the "new age" style that takes over so many Tarot decks, and if you like a good, bright spread, and if Hallowe'en is one of your favorite holidays, GET THIS DECK. I promise, it will become your favorite too!

Too Much Fun!!!
The Halloween Tarot Deck is amazing. I am a huge fan of hallowween and halloween art. The illustrations on the cards are a lot of fun; very whimsicle and cute. The book is well written. It offers full details on the symbology of ecah card along with the divinatory and reverse meanings. The author also goes into the history of halloween and how it is celebrated in different cultures. The author also tries to offer some insight as to how certain images have become associated with halloween like jack o' lanterns and black cats. Overall, it's a heck of a lot of fun, but also very educational! Buy it!

Don't Pass It Up!
I kept blowing this deck off; but then I realized. Tarot. Halloween. Duh. Two favorite things in one, with a "classic" approach. I looked a bit more into this set; everyone all over the Internet has given the Halloween Tarot great reviews. When I saw such things as the Bride of Frankenstein, the Werewolf and a Hearse for the Chariot, I knew I had to have it. If you are interested in Halloween from a "Nightmare before Christmas" point of view, are just learning Tarot and/or prefer a Rider-Waite background, then this deck is for you! The book that comes with it gives a little more details to the cards and a history of Halloween. I was impressed with the History the authors gave us. It sounds like they put some thought into it than just regurgitating stuff outta books. The author and illustrator both love Halloween. I confess I found the cat on every card a bit tedious, but I know I am a bit picky---get it before it goes out of print!

If you are buying one financial book this year, this is it.
As a practicing Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Chairman of the Financial Planning Association of MA, I am asked quite often to recommend a book that touches on one's finances without being too technical or boring. "Let's Talk Money" does the job better than any other book I have come across. (And believe me, I've read and reviewed more than you can imagine). This book touches on a variety of topics that effect 99% of the public. Sure there may be books with catchier titles like..."How I made a million dollars in 3 weeks" but if you are looking for real practical advice that's actually fun to read, this book can't be beat.

A personal financial guide that's like talking to friend
I happen to be a Certified Financial Planner licensee, and one component of my business is educating employees of corporations across the country on a variety of personal finance subjects. During, or at the conclusion of workshops, I am often asked by employees to recommend a good book that will assist them with taking control, or learning more about personal finance. Until now I never felt there was one particular book that actually approached and explained the subjects in a way most people can relate and would motivate them to learn more. Most other personal finance books, though they may be comprehensive, are dry and aren't written in a style people who are not in the profession can relate to. This is not the case with Let's Talk Money! Its nice to have a book that I can strongly recommend. Kudos to the authors!

Let's Talk Money
What a wonderful book! The structure is such that you can read it straight through or just reference a particular area of interest. It is so easy to read, too. Not something usually attributed to a Financial book!

I would recommend this book to novices and savvy financial people alike. For the novice, it is a wonderful guide to getting started. Many people feel overwhelmed when veiwing their personal financial lives, asking "where do I start"? This book will get you started in a very straighforward manner and then give you great tips for how to proceed.

At the same time, Let's Talk Money is very helpful for people who are more fiancially savvy. It serves as a reminder of things they should do, may give them some new ideas, and serve as a reference guide going forward.

Either way, this is a must read! I enjoyed it immensely!

Night's Master
Published in Paperback by New American Library (1986)
Author: Tanith Lee

Average review score:

Tanith Lee's BEST
Tanith Lee weaves tales of demons and mortals in ways that are familiar, yet with such singular and unexpected twists that even the most well-read fan of this genre will find her work refreshing. The entire Flat Earth series is at once terrible and wonderful. What is it like to be the Prince of Demons? What would happen if a mortal suddenly was given immortality? What would the Prince of Darkness do if suddenly he had no humans to torment, much as he might despise them? All these are questions that Lee is not afraid to pose through her characters from commoners to kings; from demons to gods so strange we can scarce comprehend them. With powers of description that are as evocative as Joseph Conrad's, and with the ability to paint characters in the style of a Charles Dickens, she spins a tapestry of events that binds these series of self-standing tales into a marvelous whole. Is it any wonder I highly recommend her work? Get all five of the Flat Earth series. If you are like me, you will find yourself reading them time and again.

High fantasy at its most rich and beautiful.
"Night's Master" is the first of Tanith Lee's "Flat Earth" series, but it is a complete novel in itself. Told in the form of a series of short stories that intertwine, it tells the tale of the demon Azhrarn, who loves to torment mankind, but when they are threatened, submits to at least a temporary death to save them. The prose in this tale is so rich it may be fattening. It is a sensuous pleasure to read aloud.

One of the all time best books I've ever read!
Night's Master was my first introduction to Tanith Lee nearly ten years ago and ever since I have been addicted to her work. Her writing is beautiful and seductive filled with lush imagery and descriptions that will have you longing to enter the pages of her novels. This is not your typical "fantasy" novel. It is powerful and moving and unlike anything else I have ever read. Of all of Tanith Lee's books, I would recommend the Flat Earth series and The Silver Metal Lover as the best. They never fail to transport me to another world, and really isn't that the great joy of reading novels?

Great book!
Just bought "The Unofficial Guide to PCs" from Amazon and found a couple of good ideas in it already. To me "Recovering from a PC Disaster", "Taming Tech Support", and the "Resource Directory" plus "Important Documents" in the Appendix alone are worth the bargain price I paid Amazon.

Simply the best. Comprehensive, excellent explanations.
This book is great. The depth of the detail provided allowed me to actually get questions answered without ending up with more questions than I started with. Salespeople who would normally just go through the motions can't do that any more because I now understand, in some detail, how the black box works. That's really all that I ever wanted. If I wanted to be an electrical engineer with interests in circuit design, I'd have gone to school for that. I just want the box to work, without spending a fortune in time or money on it. Finally I can pick up a book, read the right section, and get the box to work right.

There is no fat in the writing, and the book is packed with information. The entire PC process is covered; purchase (a great component description, including moneysaving tips), use (including software), upgrades and replacements. In a review there really is no way to convey an adequate description of all that is there. Just think of the time that you have spent talking to disinterested salespeople, looking at help screens, manuals, third party books, on hold on customer service lines, bugging friends, etc. Then think of a book that actually provides detailed, well-written guidance that answers questions. Get the book.

Excellent book for new Windows 9x computer owners
Whether you've put off moving up from a Windows 3.1 machine, haven't owned a computer before, or want more information about using Windows 95/98 and working with common packages, this book is a tremendous resource. It distills the years of experience the authors have had with Win9x and presents general methods to use when purchasing your computer, fixing hardware and software conflicts, and working with applications. It also contains a good set of web sites as starting points for learning more.

Win9x experts probably won't gain much from this book. However, they're not the intended audience, and I wholeheartedly believe The Unofficial Guide to PCs is well worth the price for any new Windows user.
