Terrific Tub Toys
Tub Toys is truly a terrific book by Terry Miller Shannon and son, Timothy Warner. I was reminded of my own tub time toy experiences as a child while reading. This book is delightful, fun, bright, witty, and even silly. I think a few of my favorite touches were the jacket and the cover design being different from eachother, what a thoughtful touch. I also enjoyed the authors' play on words as the toy search escalates. I thought the Mom and Dad turning into ocean creatures was a fun twist. As if the child's imagination was completely submerged in the water.
As soon as this book arrived I sat down and read it to my daughter. She has dozens of books and brought this one to me three times in a row so that she could hear the rhyme and see the lively illustrations. She's young now, but will surely grow up loving this book. Even now, at 14 months, bath-time is her favorite time of day, she gets so excited about her rubber duckies and her bubbles. I know that she'll be able to relate to the young boy in the story as she grows.
Terry, Timothy, and Lee, you have all done a tremendous job with this one! I look forward to your next collaborations with great excitement and I thank you on my daughter's behalf for sharing your amazing talent for writing and illustrating with the world! Cheers!!!

Especially excellent for reading to young children
Collaboratively written by Terry Miller Shannon and Timothy Warner, Tub Toys is a rhyming picture book for beginning readers, filled with bright and goofy full-color pictures drawn by Lee Calderon, about the fun of taking a bath in a tub crammed full of toys. Tub Toys is greatly recommended as a whimsical and fun book which is especially excellent for reading to young children right before or after bath time.

Tons of toys - Yipee!
When you tell your children to get ready for bath what do they do? Immediately they run into their room to find toys to play with in the water. The bath must be journey before they think it's fun. This is the issue in 'Tub Toys' - a cute and funny children's picture book co-written by Terry Miller Shannon and her son Timothy Warner.

The real 'star' in this book is Timothy Warner's son Liam who gave inspiration to the creation of this book. When the book arrived in the mail to me I showed it to my three year old daughter, and she LOVED it! The book is written in verses and has wonderful and funny illustrations done by Lee Calderon.

There is no limit of what the little boy in the book is taking with him in the tub. A bit sad about that he only has ONE bath duck; he takes revenge and throws all other animals in the tub, so his duck won't be lonely. How it all ends I won't tell you; but how do his parents handle this situation?

This book is the perfect gift for a young child. The illustrations are many and are the perfect affect for conversation with the child. I can tell you it was funny to see what my daughter got out of this book. It's a fiver!

before you buy a "sharpening system", read this!
I checked this book out from my local library, and read it cover to cover. It is so full of practical and useful information, I think I will have to purchase it to add to my library.

Lee covers theory, research about metallurgy and how wood reacts to sharp edges, with very practical applications of this theory and research. His writing style is very clear and understandable, and his knowledge base is clearly built upon a lifetime of woodworking experience. He points out that, no matter how much you spend for fancy stones, wheels and jigs, and top end tools, you will not get a sharp edge and satisfying result without a basic understanding of wood, metals and abrasives.

The book is nicely illustrated with clear photos and beautiful electron micrographs and very well edited. Essentially all hand woodworking and power tools are covered. It also includes appendices covering research results of how wood reacts to cutting edges and useful reference tables about abrasives.

This is one of those uncommon books that brings together science, art, and craftsmanship is a very pleasant-reading text worth keeping for reference.

Complete and Easy to Follow
Sharpening is not, as it seems to the beginner, half black magic and half luck. Grasp a few simple principles and obtain the correct materials outlined in this book and with a very little practice one can ceate a sharp edge on all important hand tools.Lee's style is friendly (many anecdotes are interspersed throughout the book) and his well-illustrated directions are complete and easy to understand. There is some highly technical and involved information in the first two chapters, but you don't really have to slog through it to sharpen well.

A great blend of theory and practice
Leonard Lee takes an open-minded, scientific look at a subject that many woodworkers treat as voodoo. Lee presents photographs that detail the differences between "razor sharp" and truly hair-splitting sharp. He explains techniques for getting the keenest edge possible on chisels, saws, plane blades, scrapers, and a variety of other edges tools. He takes the time to explain edge geometry and how it will affect the steel based on some simple metallurgy. He also explains how different woods and types of cuts require different geometries.

This book has become one of my basic reference manuals in the shop.

"EGGBEE'S DREAM" a real romp.
"Eggbee's Dream", the first book in the "Cackleberries" series is the most exciting children's book I have read in quite some time. The story takes kids on magical adventure and the illustrations make the romp complete. I give "Eggbee's dream" five out of five stars, as does every youngster I have introduced this wonderful book to.

Great story, vivid illustrations!
Eggbee's Dream is a wonderful story about the power of dreams. Supported by vivid illustrations, this book follows a young Cackleberry (aka egg) named Eggbee who, in his dreams, meets his favorite superhero and learns to overcome his fears in a tale of great adventure. From a daring rescue mission to a pot of boiling chocolate (I'm still laughing), this book has it all. In a time when great children's books are few and far between, this one caught my attention as rivetting entertainment for both kids and grownups alike!

Cackling Good Fun
EggBee's Dream is a rollicking fun filled romp. I laughed as much as my kids did. I especially loved the illustrations with their well drawn characters and brilliant colours which serve to enhance the story and to add to it's overall superhero comic book look and feel. EggBee's dream qualify's for the top drawer of children's classics. Now my kids want me to read it to them again!

Inspiring, Heartfelt and truly Funny
Leave it to David Lander to show you the funny side of a chronic condition. I read this book mainly on the subway to and from work and the passengers probably thought I was mad laughing at a book were the title contained the word "Multiple Sclerosis". If they only knew how he presented MS in this book, they'd be laughing too.

This book was better than I expected. Most biographies I read about people with illness starts in adult hood and doesn't really build up their character. David started in way before he became "Squiggy". I liked this approach because it made him seem more 'common' as opposed to the non-attainable celebrity type.

At the point in time I was yet undiagnosed with any illness. It turned out I had another illness, although the one I do have may develop into MS one day. This book made me feel better about whatever I was about to face.

It was real, heartfelt and honest. David is inspiring and sharing his story in the way he did makes him even more loveable. Thanks David.

Changed my whole outlook
The book came in on a Friday, I started it at 11 at night, finished it at 3 in the morning. I couldn't put it down. Being diagnosed in November with Ms, I've been depressed, moody, not sure what to look forward to. Now I've seen someone else with the same progression of symptoms, and I realized, it won't be too bad. I just have to remember that I can laugh at it. Squiggy did. I hope he reads these reviews every now and then, 'cause he really changed my whole outlook on the disease. Thanks David.

Finally, good humor!
Finally, a book that deals with MS that makes you laugh! I started reading this book recently during a bad MS flare-up. Although I thought I'd start feeling even worse for and about myself, David's candid humor was probably the best medicine I could've asked for!! Even though my husband's dealing with my MS (and the stresses of being a caregiver)and sees my daily struggles, he had some well-deserved and well-earned laughs from this book! Thanks, David - we MSers need some more comic like yours!!

This poem put my feelings in order and I can't thank Hannah enough for helping me through this difficult time.

Demon Diary - Definitely a Favorite
I'll admit it; the only reason I bought this book in the first place was because of the gorgeous artwork that immediately drew me in. Sure, I had skimmed over the summary on the back, but that wasn't the priority for me at the moment. Yet right now, I'm glad my thinking then was that shallow, because I'm very glad of the choice I'd made at that fateful day at the bookstore.

Demon Diary is amazing in just about every aspect one would require a manga to be in order to be great. It's a story about the demon lord Raenef and his mentor, Eclipse. These two make a very interesting couple to say the least; Raenef acts like anything but a demon lord, completely clueless and sometimes downright dense. Eclipse, on the other hand, is Raenef's respectable and rather serious tutor. (Although at times he does have his rather humerous moments.) The combination of the two personalities is nothing short of laugh-out-loud funny. At this point of the story, Demon Diary is nothing more than informing the readers of Eclipse and Raenef's process of teaching/learning, yet at the end of it all, someone unexpected does manage to test Raenef's abilities as a demon lord. As a bonus, there are also two short stories at the end of the manga, titled "Crystal Heart" and "Terra".

The artwork is top-notch and beautiful down to the last page, and obviously very shoujo. The relationship between Eclipse and Raenef (and when I mean relationship, I mean RELATIONSHIP. Shonen-ai warning for those of you averse to it) will probably appeal to mostly female readers, yet the nifty magic scenes and exploding pieces of building may attract a male audience.

In any case, Demon Diary is a wonderful manga that anyone who is interested graphic novels in general should at least take a look at.

Awesome relationship, great story
The cover art dragged me in, I'll admit it! I'd seen a few side stories from DD, but decided to purchase it and see how TokyoPop did.

Demon Diary is basically about a young innocent bishounen (yes, he's male ^_~) named Raenef who's being trained to be a demon lord by a higher class sophisticated and sexy demon named Eclipse. Seeing poor Eclipse struggle with his clueless tutor in the challenge of becoming the 'world's greatest demon lord' proves to be one of the most hilarious manga relationships I've enjoyed in a while. The first volume is admitted slow, but it's a great start to explain the challenges in Raenef's training and a confrontation with a knight at the end. A few of my friends were confused, but the stories 'Crystal Heart' and 'Terra' are stand-alone bonus stories. They're very dark, and Crystal Heart really depressed me. Nevertheless, the artwork of the entire volume was gorgeous. I'll read it over and over again; I definitely can't wait for volume 2.

In conclusion, fans of fantasy, comedy, shounen-ai, demon, and magic should have a kick out of Demon Diary. :)

"You will reign in terror whether you like it or not!" ~Eclipse

A great new series!!
While I was at the store looking for something new, I saw this book all by itself on the shelf. It must have been fate!! The story is so cute and funny, and I just love Raenef! And grumpmaester Eclipse aint to bad either.
The story starts with ditzy little Raenef trying to become the best demon lord, and poor Eclipse just trying not to get humiliated. You see Raenef isn't what you'd call a 'normal' demon. He's so light hearted and funny. He's having a hard enough time trying to remember to never appologize or use any curtesy ever, when a knight attacks the castle.
His relationship with Eclipse is amusing, and kind of strange at first. I hope to discover more in the next books to come.

Also included in this book are the short stories, Crystal Heart and Terra.
The only bad thing about this book is that the main story was so short in this volume, only about half the book was actually Demon Diary. Oh, one more thing. If you have a prob. with same gender relationships, GET A LIFE AND DON'T READ THIS SERIES!!!!
Anyways... the books great and if you read Dragon knights, I think you'll enjoy it. And it just so happens that the books come out on the mounths that dragon knights don't, so you can always look forward to something each month!!
All in all great book, get one as soon as you can. It's a great new way to look at the world of demons!!! ...

Very effective method, not too advanced
This is the best mnemonic vocabulary book I've come across. Most vocabulary books expect the reader to simply memorize dozens of words from a definition, an etymology and a sentence, then use fill-in-the-blank and multiple choice to reinforce and test you. As most know, it quickly becomes overwhelming. Vocabulatoons visual representations are truly memorable and I still remember the picture for the word for fjord (tourists looking at Ford cars in a Fjord).

The words are definitely geared toward high-school vocabulary and the SAT (as the book cover suggests) so I found myself already knowing about 75% of the words (e.g. gloat, legacy, phobia, vocation, ajar, aftermath).

I'm hoping the sequel to this book will have more advanced words, however, it never hurts to reinforce what words you *think* you already know.

A Excellent Resource
This book offers a much easier, funner, faster, and better way to learn and to *REMEMBER* vocabulary than most other vocabulary books (including those by Kaplan, Princeton Review, *for Dummies, Arco, and Barrons). What makes this book an excellent buy is the unique method that is employed in teaching vocabulary: humorous CARTOONS that serve as visual mnemonics! You will rarely find this strategy utilized anywhere else! Verbal mnemonics for each word are also incorportated into the book. This ensures that you will not forget the words you've learned!

The words used in this resource emphasize focus on attaining a better score on the verbal section of the SAT I. I have come across most of the 300 words in this book on sample SAT Is. I would recommend this title to those who would like to effectively increase their vocabulary in a short amount of time, especially to those with weak vocabularies.

A sample word used in this book is "ubiquitous". The verbal mnemonic is "as big as us". The visual mnemonic is a cartoon that features two extremely heavyset people who claim: When you're "as big as us" you feel "ubiquitous". (Ubiquitous, by the way, refers to the quality of being everywhere at once.)

Good book using mnemonics
Like many of you, I have used lots of other methods in memorizing vocabularies, and only found that it is totally useless. Even though you have learned those new words one day, you forgot them the next day. It is because we do not make the best use of our brain in memorization. If you know psychology, you know that human memorize by association, that is, you link up a new fact with the old information already contained in your mind. The success of this book is to help you to form association with other English words that you have already known. For example, according the book, the word "Giddy" is associated with an easier word "City", because they have similar pronounciation. Then a picture showing a village farmer getting dizzy with all the complicated roads in the city remind you the meaning of "giddy": dizzy, frivolous. The mnemonic method are based on psychological research, and that is why it is a good source in learning new words. I have tried Princeton Review Word Smart Cassette Programme before, and found that I forgot those learned words within a few days. This book has better methods, and the cartoon makes the whole learning experience less stressful.

The Case for Christ

Logical and Revealing
Strobel does a respectable job of making a case for Christ's existence, death and resurrection. This book reports on many interviews the author had with experts in many different areas. Many other resources are presented and reviewed. This saves a tremendous amount of time for someone wanting to research the validity of Christ. There are probably many things you did not know about and also many things you do know about but never connected. This book is one of the must-read books of the Christian faith.

SUPERB evidence for the existence of Jesus!
Lee Strobel has done his homework and produced an excellent book on the evidence for the existence of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He asks all the questions the common man/woman would ask.

The best part of the book is at the very end. Lee asks us, "So what!" Now that we are armed with all of this evidence, what do we do with it? It's up to us to decide to follow Jesus or not. There's SO much evidence. There is no denying that Jesus Christ is truely the Son of God. There are so many facts from both secular and sacred sources that prove it.

I encourage the skeptic, the agnostic, the atheist, the Jew, the Buddist, the Hindu, etc., and even the person who "thinks" he/she is a Christian, to read this easy-to-read book, and then try to dispute the findings.

For those who were already convinced that Jesus is the Son of God, it will only strengthen your faith. It did mine!

Julie A. Belonger

Does the job, of an Apologetics book.
To start out, let me say that being a Christian my review might/will be biased. =)

From the many Apologetics-jargon for defending our faith, not for apologising for it-type books this falls in the middle category in complexity, in evidence, and understandability. Having an analytical mind, this book was easy for me to read. Strobel interviews "experts" in their particular fields like Craig Blomberg (expert in the Gospels). Who in turn would give out the evidence, in Blomberg's case why the Gospels (Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John) are truthful and accurate. Other chapters deal with, archeology, psychology, medical view of death/resurrection, historical accuracy, etc.

I led a Bible Study with this book at UC Irvine, and the students were not fully able to understand the train of thought of Strobel in some chapters, which surprised me. However, they were excited to find more facts in what they believed.

Yet, this is a more complicated book than Paul Little's "Know why you believe" but definitely easier to digest than C.S. Lewis' books such as "Problem of Pain" or "The Great Divorce" (I'd have to read some sentences/paragraphs 2-3 times before understanding), or J.P. Moreland's "Scaling the Secular City" (in which after reading some paragraphs 4-5 times I would wonder if it was written in english at all, albeit an excellent philosophical book)

As this book is a "summary" of each particular topic, it doesn't go in-depth in any one topic, but it would be a great starting point as it has citations and references to 120+ "academic" books.

All in all, I think this is a great book for NEW believers, to re-affirm their faith, and answer their questions at heart. Can't really say this book would turn an unbeliever to Christ, but it might help for those who need questions answered. After all, God works in wonderful (weird?) ways.

The first chapter alone is worth the money.
The first chapter of this book gives a history of radio design with schematics. The cmos portion gives a good coverage of RF components, smith charts, CMOS inductors, Bandwidth estimation techniques etc. More an RF issues book than a cmos layout book with almost all layout examples being single components. This is an excellent single issue book focused on Radio design specifically CMOS radio design. Those looking for a book focused on CMOS design should buy this book in addition to another.

The best book I ever read on Electronic
You can find here a fine description of last RF design knowhow, with answers to questions I'd like to have before. Thank you Mister LEE!!!

Excellent introduction to CMOS RF Design
Possibly the most well-written book on CMOS design I have ever read. Relaxed, readable style and an emphasis on core ideas and rule-of-thumb design rules, makes this an extremely useful practical guide, as well as a great introduction to a complex topic. Some excellent advanced material on oscillator design too. I particularly liked the first and last chapters giving a history of radio design - very interesting background. I think the best compliment I can give this book is that I found it difficult to put down - for a circuits textbook, that is truly an incredible achievement!
