Debby Gold, Nypd

Good reading, but a bit far-fetch
I enjoyed reading this book but I felt that, at times, the story received too much of a coincidence action to help push the storyline along. Overall it was enjoyable but a bit surreal for me. Debby should have sought answers and not just suddenly figure things out at the convenience of keeping the story moving.

COPS R PLOTS
THIS READING IS FUN, LIGHT, INTRIGUING AND HARD TO PUT DOWN. DEBBY GOLD IS AN OFFICER THAT WE ALL KNOW AND DON'T HAVE A JADED IMAGE OF YET. MS. THUNA HOLDS YOUR ATTENTION WITH JUST ENOUGH NAUGHTINESS TO KEEP YOU HOOKED. KEEP BANGING THOSE KEYS AND BRING US MORE EYE CANDY IN PRINT. BUY THE BOOK AND PUT IT ON YOUR BEDSTAND INSTEAD OF SNACKS, GUARANTEED TO WHET YOUR WHISTLE.

Debby Gold - I like her!
In Debby Gold NYPD, a psychological thriller, Thuna brings us not only into the heart of Manhattan, but also into the hearts and minds of her richly drawn characters. As they become real to us, so does the story. We're shopping "chic" with Gail, or sipping coffee at a sidewalk cafe in Manhattan with friends, or meeting Debby's family in Pound Ridge, or watching Allen grow up.
As readers, we have some inside information on "what's going on," and yet it does not at all diminish the suspense. Unexpected twists and turns keep the drama and excitement going, and the final outcome a surprise.
It's a good read for many reasons. Thuna's dramatic skills have crossed over nicely from theater to book writing. And if you are a person who likes to relate to characters - make them your friends (or enemies) - this is really a book for you.

Parenting 101.
Although this parenting guide was written for noncustodial, divorced fathers, it is ultimately intended to benefit the children of divorced parents. Coauthors Nancy Wasson, Ph.D. and Lee Hefner share an interest in helping kids adjust to divorce. "We believe in the power of love and persistence to transform relationships," they write; "we also believe that even small changes a father makes can have major impact on the rapport with his children" (p. 200). Wasson is a therapist who works with children of divorced parents, and Hefner is the noncustodial father of a tennaged daughter. Their book encourages divorced fathers to mend fences with their ex, to upgrade their parenting skills, to communicate in various ways, to support learning, to plan vacations and enjoy recreational activities together, to splurge occasionally, and to teach values by setting an example, in order to stay connected to their children. Sound advice.

Divorced Dads: 101 Ways to Stay Connected with Your Kids
The only thing I didn't like about this book was the title because I thought it was too limiting. This is an awesome book for anyone that wants to be closer connected with their kids or any other human being. Clever ideas and thought provoking suggestions. A wonderful book!

Divorced Dads: 101 Ways to Stay Connected with Your Kids
This timely book by Wasson and Hefner speaks a vital message to non-custodial fathers giving positive direction to them of how to nurture their relationships with their children. We know that children need a healthy forever relationship with BOTH parents.......an outcome that is not the norm in divorced families. The authors of this book empathize with the hardship of being the father, and step by step wisely pave his way to overcoming common obstacles to meeting his children's needs and receiving their love. As a therapist, and supervisor of therapists, who has worked with children and families for over 25 years (and as a divorced parent myself), I have experienced the overwhelming pain and sadness of children losing the active participation of a parent in their lives. This book clearly shows how to prevent this heartbreak from happening, as well as how to mend broken bridges. Who are the winners? The children of divorce, the non-custodial fathers, the mothers who have custody, the extended family, and the larger community. Read this book, and give it to those you love who need the guidance.

Commendably fluent in several tongues
The strength of David Lee's writing is his ability to transcend his own voice--one poem jerks and writhes tersely--another lays back in wry irony (without being smug)--another is clear-eyed and heart-felt (without being cliched.) Especially in this, his first book, you get a healthy dose of several styles of poetry, all of them well done. I've given this book to several people, some of them hard core poetry readers, veterans of many a workshop, and they very much appreciated this book for all the evidence that Lee has clearly surveyed the landscape of current poetry, mapped out his own track through the terrain of the hip and the trite and the maudlin and the, now and then, able poems of today's poets. But I've also given this book to readers who have never bothered with (post)-modern poetry, or who who used to bother with it and have decided to drop it, and they came back to me as satisfied as the former group, asking if I had any other books like this one. The answer is "no", but I am glad to have this one. I can't imagine a reader who wouldn't find at least a few poems in this book that they wouldn't eventually deem as necessary.

Startlingly brave and unabashedly tender...
These poems are full of a violent, clear eyed vision and a great humanity. When David Dodd Lee casts his gaze on the damaged world, he sees EVERYTHING... danger, heartbreak, beauty. In poem after poem he seems to question how these things can possibly co exist in the world, and yet in his poems they do. His sensibility is like nothing I've seen in contemporary poetry; immediate, haunting, full of gut & heart.

NATURE WITH A VENGENCE!
I'm not a great lover of nature poems, I admit it--BUT the fish poems in this book are so creepy and wonderful and SCARY, that I was looking up "pike" facts on the web as soon as I finished these daring hardedged wild poems. David Dodd Lee's work spans violence from the deep lakes of Michigan to the Oklahoma City Bombing. I loved this book for how far it pushes the limits of "polite" poetry.

"Mommy, read it AGAIN !"
Woo Woo! And away we go to town, with a Spanish lesson on the side. Puerta Vallarta artist Lee Chapman does a wonderful job painting for the "small canvas" of each page. His whimsical style is one that both children and parents will enjoy.

Spectacular
What a wonderful book for introducing young children to another language. After reading just a few times, my son was started using the Spanish vocabulary in the book. It is particularly brilliant since English is married to the Spanish words such that the meaning of the Spanish words is clear from the context. We love it

Your child will be bilingual!!
This is a charming book that your child will love! Our three year old daughter begs us to read it to her each night and enjoys practicing the spanish words in the story. The illustrations in the book are vibrant and fun to look at and the english/spanish translations are not intimidating. After checking it out at the library a few times we decided to make it our own.

First Steps has just been named a Best Book for 2001, for babies and toddlers, by the Bank Street College/Children's Book Council. -Lee Wardlaw, author

A Hug along the Way
This charmning book will encourage little ones as they learn to take those first important steps. They will recognize themselves and the "work" they are doing. Parents and children will enjoy "lap time" together -- sharing a hug and a story.

The Perfect Baby Shower Gift
As a first-time grandparent I was thrilled to discover FIRST STEPS, a delightful "giggle wiggle waggle" of a story. Together my grandson and I chuckle over the lively and engaging text -- perfectly blended with child-friendly art. FIRST STEPS is the perfect gift for a baby shower or a new grandparent.

A great souvenir of a great guy
Since losing David Angell in the September 11th tragedy, I am so happy to have a copy of this book. Dave was a great guy, and I miss him.

It is an original!
This book is great because it is an original! You have the original storylines and no additions from other authors. You learn how such a series is made and how important the actors are to bring the action to live.

A Collection of Classic Moments
This book is a perfect mechanism for catching up on the early years of Frasier or to relive those wonderful moments. I started watching Frasier in season 6 and this book has been a constant companion to fill the gaps and relive the moments I loved from the episodes I have caught up on. Having this book WILL lift your IQ!!

Excellent Resource for ALL Salespeople
Even if you don't sell retail, this book gives common sense ideas any salesperson can use right now to increase profits. The quickest way I know to increase and maintain profits is to AVOID cutting prices, and this book gives some great ideas on how to do just that. If you sell and have any control over your prices, you should have this book. If you ARE in retail, you MUST have this book.

Store's Gross Margin Up 3 to 4 Percentage Points
I first read this book, then I bought copies for my managers and salespeople. We were not as gross margin conscious as we should have been. I highly recommend this book to any retailer.

My company's profits are up
I can't tell you how much the ideas I got from this book have enhanced my gross margins. My sales team really buys into the new ideas I have learned from reading this book.

Solidly Informative
Fabled Service is solid proof of the importance of customer service supported by Sanders's experience with Nordstrom. Businesses strive for customer service, and Sanders provides useful and detailed explanations and strategies for how to attain the basic concept of excellent customer service. Fabled Service is as good as Michael Levine's Guerilla PR: Wired, which explains how to attain excellent public relations coverage in the modern age without busting the budget.

Best Money You Can Spend
If you are in business or are thinking about going into business, this book is a must. No matter what else you know or think you know, these core concepts are the keys to success. Real examples from real life with real meaning. And Betsy Sanders has a way of making it understandable and simple.

This book truly changed my personal & professional life
WOW! Betsy Sanders truly inspired me to delve deep into myself and fill page after page of ideas for customer service that had nothing to do with her industry...this book speaks to any industry or field. Because fabled service is so rarely experienced, but continuously sought after by businesses everywhere, this book is a must for any new hire, established executive or just the coordinator of a small volunteer organization. The essence of fabled service is the people, so hiring and retaining excellent employees is simply a must, as is recognizing their efforts, ideas and energies expended on your behalf. I applaud Betsy and her comprehensive collection of ideas, thoughts and direction to help others achieve true Fabled Service in their own lives!

13th Chris Bennett mystery is entertaining, pleasant outing
We have previously expressed our enjoyment of the prior dozen escapades of ex-nun Christine Bennett, an amateur sleuth, wife of a brand new (ex-cop) NYPD lawyer, and mother of young toddler Eddie. This springtime story occurs shortly after Father's Day, which witnessed the murder of one of the "Morris Avenue Boys", who had been friends since boyhood for some 40 years and regularly met for reunions all this time. Our leading lady was asked to investigate the murder of one of the nine (by one of the granddaughters), all of whom, except one out-of-towner who did not attend, nor one who had previously died, were obvious suspects and being investigated (more or less, we don't get the details...) by the police.

Despite many days of questioning the principals, the widow, the wives and anybody else who might have a shard of knowledge about the group, Chris has almost as many questions as she does answers. Yet her persistence has turned up a few leads that the police have as yet to discover. Thus a pretty good premise leads us through the life and times of the men, especially the murder victim, Arthur Wien, a famous novelist, to a fairly surprising conclusion. Wien's celebrity life, his women chasing, money borrowing, and messy divorce, fueled much of the grounds for motive, still difficult to find among the great chums. We picked up a clue mid-book that gave us an inkling of the outcome, an "eureka" not common to reading the stories in this series. Even with that precognition, we were held in suspense until nearly the final chapter when all becomes clear and Chris once again is the lever that elicits a confession from the apparently guilty party. Interestingly, whether it was really that party or not is somewhat left to the speculation of the reader.

We enjoy the very predictability of Lee Harris' stories of which we suppose some might tire. We have often characterized the leading lady and her family as wholesome and caring, creating dependably pleasant tales that don't need violence and gore, nor foul language or explicit sex, to capture and sustain our interest. Isn't that what a good mystery is all about ?!?!

Absolutely wonderful
This book as with all of the Lee Harris books has a good plot, great character development and a wonderful twist.

ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!
This series are so well written! I am at a loss without another Chris Bennett story to follow up with. Like all the other "holiday" murders this is also a great book that keeps you hooked from the first page to the last. I finished this one in one day, I could not put it down. Keep them coming Lee!!

Giant book of Tofu
Great cook book for Tofu users. I love the pictures & simple instructions. I thought it would be Vegan based. I just subsitute the eggs, cheese,& milk with Soy milk, Soy Cheese and egg replacer.

Great for the Beginner
This book has easy recipes and an overview of the different textures of tofu that are available. A great book for the beginner with some delicious and easy recipes.

The best tofu cook book I own.
I got this book as a gift last Christmas and I have made about ten or so of the recipies and they all came out wonderfully. Just about all of the dishes are very simple to make and don't have a lot of complicated ingredients. There is a short bit at the front which teaches you about tofu and how to work with it. This book has dishes for every taste including Mexican, Indian, Middle Eastern and Italian. It has an incredible breakfast food section and a fabulous dessert section as well. If you love the taste and texture of tofu or if you want to start eating tofu but don't want it to be the main focus of the dish this book has everything. I can't rave about this book enough. The authors obviously did a lot of research to compile such a fine collection or recipies and I can honestly say it is the best tofu book in my collection.
