Why You Act the Way You Do
There is a lot of interesting information about temperaments in this book. However, in many cases it is written in a judgemental and black and white way. It doesn't seem to be carefully written, as there are some inconsistencies and things the author doesn't seem to have thought through. It also tends to be repetitive. Unfortunately, Tim La Haye's temperament test is not included in the book and has to be bought separately.

Spiritual Temperaments
Mr. Lahaye does a good job of introducing us to the four basic temperaments that we are born with, derived from Ancient Greece. This book explores the various attitudes and personalities of each temperament and how our worldly selves deal with them. Basically, if you have a close relationship with Jesus, then the weaknesses of each temp. is not that hard to overcome. Lahaye tells us is that we have a predominant temp. with one or two secondaries and it is interesting to see where you fit in, and how certain aspects of your life affect how you react to certain situations. This is similar to the Myers-Brigg Indicator, but you do not answer a lot of questions. One thing, I did like, was Lahaye's mention of the spiritual fruits and what each temp. is normally good at. If you are interested in seeing which temperament you are, and what your strengths/weaknesses may be, this is the book for you.

Spirtiual Help
I found this book very helpful. Not only does it talk about the four temperments but it also shows how each temperment handles their emotions. There is a section on temperment and your emotions. This section really made me stop and think about how we live our life as defeated Christians becasue we let fear, worry and other emotions take over our life. LaHaye tells of some steps to overcome fear and he also talks about how to cope with anger. This is a must read for anyone 20 years of age and up.

Stick with "Left Behind"
This book begins with a description of the four humors theory applied to temperament instead of medicine (since the body fluids this theory was originally based on are nonexistent). It's not the first time I've seen this idea, but I am wondering why it is better than the many, many other attempts to categorize people out there. It's not based on the Bible at all, which makes me wonder about Tim Lahaye's claim that this book started out as a set of sermon outlines. If I went to a church and the sermon was on something besides the Bible, I wouldn't go back to that church! As far as I know, there isn't a lot of research behind it either, though it is old.

Eventually we finally get back to the Bible with a study on the fruit of the spirit. No problems there. Then Tim Lahaye attempts to explain and cure some of the common ailments of believers. I nearly choked when he stated that selfishness is the root cause of depression. Seeing as he apparently knows so much as to write a whole book on depression, I thought somewhere he would have noticed that introspection and self-centeredness are common symptoms of depression. He continues with a story about confronting a depressed friend about her selfishness. Unfortunately, she wouldn't believe him, and is still depressed. With all due respect, saying selfishness is the cause of depression is like saying sneezing is the cause of colds, and telling a depressed person to stop being selfish will be about as effective as telling a person with a cold to stop sneezing!

Forgive my insistence on this particular point, but I have seen and experienced firsthand so many Christians rejecting their fellow believers because of their depression, anxiety, mental problems, or whatever. They think that this would never, ever happen to a true Christian, and have books like this one as their proof. Because of this belief, which conveniently overlooks David, Elijah, and Jesus, many people have been hurt.

Tim Lahaye's theories do not come from the Bible, as much as they claim to be Biblical. I suggest that Tim Lahaye, as a pastor and Bible scholar, not a psychologist, stick to those areas he is qualified in rather than constructing elaborate theories in areas where he apparently knows very little.

Invaluable tool for success in life
This book is a wonderful continuation on the theme set in, "Your Temperament: Discover its Potential". They are like 'soup and sandwich' .. they are so complimentary, that you shouldn't do one without the other.

I have developed and entire seminar and workshop series over the past 15 years based upon a great deal of what I learned from reading and applying the information obtained from these two books.

Through the seminars and recommending several of Tim's books on Temperament, I have seen, first-hand, literally dozens of people who have had major positive changes occur in their lives. I know of not a single person, who seriously looked at the knowledge of temperament as an informational tool to engage personal development, who has not benefited.

But, like all tools, they are incapable of 'performing' until put into action.

The knowledge of the 'temperaments' gives you the basis for understanding human nature: the foundation of who we are and why we do what we do. "Spirit-Controlled Temperament" .. moves the bar up a level and into a whole new dimension: the spiritual dimension.

The reader is shown that the development of their understanding of temperaments is more than just a physical exercise. Dr. LaHaye shows the value of looking deeper into the awesome potential of the Temperaments; looking at them in the light of spiritual understanding.

Again, a tool's potential is never fully realized until a 'skilled' craftsman puts it into service. And one does NOT become a 'skilled craftsman' without an 'extra measure' of outside influence.

Starting at 'square-one', with an understanding of the the 'rules of engagement' in life, and a relatively clear concept of the 'game-plan', is so much less painful than landing in the middle of the 'treadmill of life' with no clue as to the rules or the plan.

This is the extreme value a thorough knowledge of the temperaments can provide. Imagine, the magnificent gift a parent can bestow upon their children by having command over their own temperament and then passing this knowledge on to the next generation, through example and instruction.

What a grand gift to ALL of society!

"Spirit-Controlled Temperament" provides valuable information to set that foundation for the reader. I strongly recommend finding a copy of "Your Temperament: Disover its Potential" and reading and refer to it regularly. It's out-of-print, but used copies can be found.

I did, right here on Amazon.

Excellent! Incredible! A sharp stab of revealing truth!
I just read a review of this book that made my eyes water. I can see how not everybody would be flattered by this book. It's pretty convicting.

I found it refreshing as it was straight forward and didn't "pad the blows." Not only did it point straight to the truth of human nature, it abolished the idea that we, as humans, can make it in this world without the Lord. I was so very impressed with the truth given quickly, and then the blessings added. Not only did it point out how truly selfish we were, it then lifted us to new heights with the reality that God can change it all.

Amen to Dr. LaHaye! Thank God for his wisdom and his ability to share God's heart. Finally, a book that calls it as it is.

GREAT SERIES
This is a really good book. I'm glad that there is a Christian series for kids to read. All of the books are fun to read and have a lot of action in them. I would definetely recommend this book.

The Young Trib Force Faces Pressure
This seventh installment in the Left Behind Kids series finds Vicki and Judd attempting escape as school authorities pursue them relentlessly. At the end of book 6, Vicki was the one caught by the authorities. At the beginning of this seventh book, Vicki makes one last desperate attempt to escape and Judd Thompson Jr, the leader of the Young Tribulation Force, helps her in her attempt. However Vicki is captured and taken to a juvenile detention center, where she finds herself facing persecution.

Meanwhile, the other three post-Rapture teens face more troubles, along with two new friends, John and Mark. As they struggle to spread the Truth behind the global vanishings and warn people of the coming global judgments foretold in Scripture, the noose tightens at Nicolae High and the kids find themselves facing the pressure that threatens to keep the kids from sticking together as a team. They also seek to find out who the insider at the school who is helping them is. In the midst of their troubles, Old Testament prophecies are coming true all around them. Nicolae Carpathia, the one who the kids found to be the Antichrist back in book 4, signs a peace treaty with the nation of Israel, thus signalling the beginning of the seven most chaotic and perilous years mankind will ever see. By the time book 7 comes to its end, Carpathia has established a global regime and gains total control of Earth, decieving the people of the world into believing that he is the world savior, thus fulfilling Revelation chapter 6:1-2. Will the kids stay alive?

Busted is without a doubt one of the best installments in the series. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, and it ends with a cliffhanger, as do all the books so far, and makes you eager to read the next book in this series about a group of post-Rapture Christians who struggle to survive in a quickly-dying world. 5 stars.

GREAT BOOK!!!
some people don't like these books because they are scared by them(some people even call the books nonsense). but the events described in these books really are going to happen. the books weren't written to scare people into believing. they were written to warn non-believers what's going to happen. i love these books! they're about the only christian books i can find that are so well written and so enjoyable!

READ< this book!

Im glad Im going to be left behind
Amazing, simply amazing. Its amazing to see how two authors can capture such a disturbing event from a kids point of view. This book is my favorite book out of the Left Behind -The Kids- series for many reasons. For one, I can relate to it in some ways because it deals with kids my age who go through terrible times and at the same time it is encouraging to know that kids my age could brave losing their family and friends. Its also astonishing that kids my age can help out to keep violence off the street when people say that the youth have so much violence. In the -sting- the kids help catch some criminals but you have to read the book to find out what really happened. The book has to do with four kids and their lives, and what happens to them, like Ryan getting chased by Leroy or Loinel trying to save his uncle who is his only family left or Vicky and Jed in the sting. Overall, this book is one of the best books I have read because it gives me a greater out look on what will happen afer the rapture and to the people who will be left behind.

Through the Flames - Book 3 of the Left Behind Kids Series
Through the Flames logs in as book 3 in the series about four teenagers who struggle to survive the seven most chaotic and perilous years the planet has ever seen. Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan are post-Rapture Christians who have all been left orphans when a global catastrophe strikes (book 1) which is only the beginning of the end of the world.

In this third installment, the four kids find themselves in grave danger when Ryan sneaks around associates of Lionel's Uncle Andre and learns dangerous information. After narrowly escaping a mass murderer, Ryan returns to his friends and tells them what he heard. The four of them boldly set out to find more answers concerning Andre and in the process risk their very lives. Judd and Lionel narrowly escaping with their lives in a nerve-frazzling rescue attempt in a burning building, while at the same time, Vicki and Ryan are chased through the streets of Chicago by the same murderer who set the apartment fire.

Through the Flames is one of the most exciting installments in the Left Behind Kids series. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, and the cliffhanger ending will make you want to read the next installment, Facing the Future.

Questionable "pre-trib" notes, bad translation
First, let me address the NKJV translation. I'm not usually one to blast a translation as junk, especially since I believe the best Bible is the one that people read. But the NKJV is a pretty skeevy translation, in my estimation. It is so hard to read that you may as well stick with the original KJV. Not only that, but it retains the absolutely worst elements of the KJV (a broken verse format) and combines it with the WORST elements of the NASB (capitalized He's for God). The NKJV is such a massively awkward translation, and whatever benefits it offers for being literal are lost when one realizes that it isn't a literal translation of an reliable New Testament text - it's based on exactly the same manuscripts as the KJV, even when scholarly opinion is universal that the KJV was wrong (e.g., the "book" of life rather than the "tree" of life in the closing verses of Revelation).

That said, Tim LaHaye seems bent on reviving Hal Lindsay's ideas, and that is a Very Bad Thing. I'm still waiting for one verse that even suggests a pre-trib rapture.

Excellant Resource to Understand God's Word
I have been using this Bible for only a week but it has been a blessing. This Bible is an encyclopedia for students who want to understand some of the most difficult passages in scripture, the Old Testament Prophets as well as the Revelation of Jesus Christ. The notes are totally from a Dispensational Pre-Trib point of view with no apologies. As a dispensational study Bible I would recommend this over the Scofield or Ryrie, though both of those are more general study Bibles. Of the other Prophecy Study Bibles on the market this is by far the best. The only other specialty study Bible that can compare is Henry Morris' Defenders Study Bible which is unfortantly out of print according to Amazon. Dr.LaHaye and his co-editors have done a splended job. The articles are by many writers but all are well written and open the eyes of the reader to the depths of scripture. And Dr.LaHaye's charts are always a great visual tool for use in classes and with children. May this great Bible stay in print a long time. Maranatha!

Me understand Prophecy?!?
If like me you long to fully understand Bible Prophecy, this is the book for you. Tim Lahaye is very gifted yet down to earth, and his books can be read very easily. The deep insight of him and everyone that helped him in conjunction with the KJV of the Bible is exactly what I was longing for. I spend more time reading and understanding the Bible now than ever before.
I was also impressed with the timely delivery of my order. Amazon.com also gets 5 stars!

Nada,The Horrible
This book is really good with the exception of Nada.I HATE NADA!!! she,s (in my opinion )not a good addition to the Young Trib Force. And I can't believe that Judd could like her. She's too weak.Anyway since i hate her I won't spend so much time on her.i really like vicki.I wish they could trade Nada for chaya.
In my book it was supposed to be Vicki and judd!!!!

good book, bad plot
I think that the left behind books are great. they're educational and action packed. I love all the characters especially Judd and Lionel. The only thing I dont like about the books is that the plot is unrealistic. if suddenly all the christians dissapearred into thin air everyone would convert. let alone them screaming at the top of their lungs that theres going to be a worldwide earthquake, hail the size of golfballs mixed with a shower of blood, a giant meteor crashing to earth, another giant meteor crashing into earth that pollutes all the water a worldwide freeze, and finaly a giant cloud composed of millions of tiny invincible demons with the body of a lion and the head of a human that leave all the believers alone but chew through walls to sting the unbelievers, which after they are stung they expereince so much pain that they want to die for five months. All of which happens almost exactly as they said it would. But still the vast majority of people follow Enigma Babylon one world religion. Come On!

cool book!
I love the Left Behind:The Kids series and I liked this book too. The only thing I don't like about this book is Nada (if you look at the reviews it's pretty much unanimous-she stinks!). I'm really writing a review for the whole series-it's GREAT and I would recommend it to anyone who's willing to try it. I do recommend that you read the books in order, though, because if you miss something it can get confusing.

A Warning to Parents. . .
I am a parent, a homeschooler, a conservative, and a committed Christian. I say all this up front so that my criticism of this series will be understood.

I believe in presenting the truth to my children to the best of my ability.

This means the truth of the Bible -- not the opinion of an extreme minority.

This means the truth of Church History -- warts and all.

This means the truth of Secular History.

This means the truth of what comprises good literature vs. poor literature -- and this series does not represent the quality of material I want my children to handle.

Truth is frequently painful and sometimes scary.

HOWEVER, I do NOT believe in deliberately frightening children into accepting or rejecting a particular opinion or viewpoint. It appears to this parent that such religious "scare tactics" are precisely what is being engaged in with these books.

My children know about heaven and hell. They know what it requires to end up in either of those destinations. They understand that hell is a pretty scary place. But I choose to teach them in a positive, rather than in a negative vein. Being "scared straight" is imperfect contrition. Granted, it beats no contrition at all -- but it results in fear rather than love.

This is what this series appears to accomplish: salvation through fear, rather than salvation through acceptance of the love of the God of Love.

Parents, pay attention to what your children read. Teach them about the love of God, not only through your words but through the example of your life. But don't try to frighten them into the Kingdom.

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

More persecution fantasies from Jenkins and La Haye
"Nicolae High," by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye, is number 5 in the "Left Behind: The Kids" series of short novels for young readers. "Nicolae" continues the overarching plot of the series, which is inspired by Christian fundamentalist theology. The book follows the adventures of a group of Christian teenagers during an age of apocalyptic mystery and horror. In "Nicolae," the kids' high school is renamed (as indicated by the title) after a powerful world leader, and the faculty begins to implement a new agenda.

Like the other books in the series, "Nicolae" features corny dialogue and ridiculously melodramatic scenes. The message of "Nicolae" seems to be that religious diversity is a bad thing; for the book's heroes, the only legitimate viewpoint is a Christian fundamentalist viewpoint. Further, the book seems to foster Christian fundamentalist fantasies of persecution (the "us against the world" mentality). The idea that American public schools oppress Christian fundamentalists is a key theme here.

Actually, I found the most interesting aspect of "Nicolae" to be a couple of brief references to "Star Trek." These references are ironic, considering the vast gulf between the vision of "Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry and the authors of the "Left Behind: The Kids" series. Approach the second of these two visions with caution.

The Young Trib Force Goes Back to School
Nicolae High, the 5th installment in the Left Behind Kids series, finds our four teen heros facing a new challenge. Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan are the post-Rapture Christians who were left alone when the global vanishings occured. Now, in book 5, school is back in session, and our four teen heros take their newfound faith to the classrooms of Global Community Middle School and Nicolae High, both named after the Antichrist and his newly established regime.

Danger awaits them at every turn. The authorities outlaw carrying Bibles or talking about God. They risk everything in order to speak the Truth to their peers. The authorities hunt them down and attempt to persecute them. How long will they be able to avoid the authorities and share their faith with their peers? Read Nicolae High and find out!

Too many assumptions stated as fact
"after John is called up into heaven and the world goes through the tribulation period, the church is not mentioned even once until (Rev.) chapter 19, when she is seen coming with Christ to rule and reign with Him." (Tim Lahaye in "Understanding the Last Days", pg. 94)

This is a great example of how this book is filled with all sorts of assumptions. Tim LaHaye says we return with Christ to battle at Armageddon in Revelation 19:14. Revelation 19:14 says "armies" (it doesn't say us or the church) wearing linen that's "white and clean" (NAS) are seen coming with Christ to battle (19:19). The assumption is made that these armies are the church because Revelation 19:8 says that the saints are given linen, "bright and clean" (NAS). He's overlooked the fact that Revelation 15:6 states that angels wear linen that is "clean and bright" (NAS). 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 tells us that angels return with Christ to deal out retribution. These "armies" seen in Revelation 19:14 appear to be angels, not the church. Not one verse says the church will return with Christ like Tim Lahaye states as a fact. This is just one example showing why we need to read the bible more. This is also one of the many examples of how the pre-trib teachers manipulate scripture to make it appear that we will avoid persecution. They say that because we are seen returning with Christ to battle at Armageddon (which no passage supports) in Revelation 19:14 we MUST be raptured pre-tribulationaly and then wait in heaven for seven years for the battle. If interested, try a book by Robert Van Kampen, H.L. Nigro or Marvin Rosenthal. Read their books and check out every verse with your bible and I think you will like it.

Dire warnings for everyone!
For the glory of God, this book should be required reading in public schools, and anyone who says a bad thing about it should be publicly flogged! We pray, O Lord, to be taken up with your Son at the rapture, and for unbelievers to be vomitted into the jaws of Hell where they belong.

So user-friendly..
Tim LaHAYE really sat down and wrote this with the beginner in mind! I am so glad I can give this to some1 knowing that the book is inexpensive, easy to understand and good-looking. Tim please do a book like this on, 'Daniels' prophesy

Birth control information is misleading
My wife and I read this book right before we were married and it contains practical information about what to expect in the sexual act and ways to increase physical enjoyment, although we did not find all of the suggestions to be useful. My main concern with the book is the chapter titled "Sane Family Planning." The LaHaye's heartily endorse the pill (oral contraceptives) as the preferred method of birth control, although there is a lot of evidence that the pill acts as abortifacient at least some of the time.....In addition, the LaHaye's description of the "rhythm method" poorly characterizes Natural Family Planning (NFP) techniques currently used today.............

LeHaye provides a wonderful Christian perspective on sex
The Act of Marriage was very beneficial to me before I was married. I had never heard or read anything about sex from a Christian perspective. The LeHayes provided a course of the physical aspects of marriage (sex), while at the same time focusing in upon the more relational and spiritual. The physical aspects included things like the role of male and female hormones in the arousal of sexual feelings. The relational and spiritual focused upon things like pleasing your spouse and finding out what is most pleasing for your partner. I was especially pleased to hear about the physiological components of sex from two Christians, because my experience with Christians and sex has been very Victorian and repressive. The LeHayes are not like that at all.

I was very nervous and scared about the First Night. I found out that my spouse was also very nervous. The LeHayes book helped to lessen and queit our fears. I think the best part of the boo is the description of the Brain and mind as the most important sexual organ. Overall, the LeHayes did a wonderful job.

The Act of Marriage
As a young couple looking into marriage, our pastor gave us this book to read and discuss. It was life-changing. I came from a broken home. My mother was always too embarassed to answer all the many questions that I had. This book did so in such a clear, godly way. It also opened up the lines of communication between my husband and I before we were ever married. It is a wonderful study book for the couple. I was embarassed about some parts in it before we were married but it did lay an excellent foundation for our marriage. Personally, I will be requiring my children to read and study through this book prior to marriage as well. Don't miss it!

Preparing for Battle
This fourth installment in the Left Behind-The Kids series is, in my opinion, the best in the series so far. In this fourth book, the four teens who are living in a post-Rapture world learn details of the coming holocaust of horrible judgments that will strike the planet, as prophecied in Scripture. They also discover who the Antichrist is at the very end of the book. Also at the end, the four teens realize their purpose in living as Christians in a post-Rapture world. They realize they must get the Truth of the Bible's salvation message to the world to as many people as possible before the end comes, when they learn that the world would come to its end in seven years.

Facing the Future picks up where book 3 left off. Judd and Vicki go to Chicago to witnes the arrest of a mass murderer, by whom they had almost been killed. After the arrest, Judd shares his Faith to a group of police officers. All the officers except one laugh it off. The young Homicide cop Archibald Edwards is interested. Later on in the book, good news and bad news come about. The kids witness to the wife of a police officer about the Gospel message and she become a Christian. Archibald Edwards, the cop who is somewhat interested in the Gospel message, is suddenly killed by the murderer LeRoy Banks when he attempts but fails a jailbreak attempt. This book seems to be trying to make a point, which is this: if you've heard the Gospel message, do not wait; do not put off coming to Christ because you may not have tomorrow to live. Do not risk your life and, more importantly, your afterlife by thinking you have all the time in the world, because you do not!

When the kids learn from Biblical prophesy that within the next seven years, the end of the world would come about through war, famine, pestilences, plagues, earthquakes, and cosmic disturbances, they realize their purpose for living as Christians in a world plunged into mass chaos. They also discover who the Antichrist is when a man who has encountered the Antichrist shares his nightmarish story . . .

Facing The Future
The book I read is in the Left Behind series. It's by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.I read number four in the series. The protaganists are Judd,Vicki,Ryan, and Lionel. The book is Facing The Future. One night at 12:00 people disapeared from where they were all over the world there was mayhem. The best part was when the four kids became friends and then became the young tribulation force.

Everyone needs to read these
After reading the fourth book (Facing the Future) of the "Kids Left Behind" series, I would be scared to be here on earth and experience the tribulation and the events that go along with it.

I would say that this will keep you on your toes and you will not want to stop reading. It also leaves you hanging on a cliff, and you will want to read the next book of the series. --TF
