The Buried Past: An Archaeological History of Philadelphia
Published in Hardcover by University of Pennsylvania Press (1993)
Authors: John L. Cotter, Daniel G. Roberts, and Michael Parrington
Amazon base price: $49.95
Average review score:

Outstanding resource
Mr John Cotter and Group have written a wonderful book. If you are into "digging up the past" this is the material you've been looking. Just the wonderful pencil sketchs of the long past "Slate Roof House" makes this a absolute read. The digging up of the historical area and the great "finds" that were discovered. I feel any true Philadelphian will enjoy something out of this manual.

Lots of Information
I used this book as a reference for a term paper on two African American burial grounds in Philadelphia. Contains information on major and some obscure archaeological finds in Philadelphia. History of Philadelphia as well.

An absolutely first-rate book in Behavioral Medicine.
This book covers a great deal of interest and practical value in the areas of Health, Medicine, and Psychology and how they interact. The sections have been written by well-respected experts in their fields. The book is organized in a way that makes it easy to use without resorting to the index. The writing is clear.

There is an introductory section with a brief review of psychological topics that are useful in understanding the remainder of the book and how psychology is applied to medicine.

There is another section dealing with the psychological aspects of health and illness.

The next section concerns itself with psychological assessment and intervention.

Following that is a section on professional health practice.

The final section is a compendium of scores of diseases and disorders discussed in the light of the interaction between psychology and medicine.

This book would be a fine addition to the library of anyone interested in the interplay between mind and medicine, and is a very useful resource.

Hard to find, keep it on your Library
The content is very clear, the exercises are complete and there are lots of examples. I specially like the cases based on real businesses. I used this book with an Advanced Finance class of my MBA program.
For those who like modeling there is a section dedicated to LP, IP and GP, very well explained but no Excel or LINDO solutions though.
If you are one that have fun with decision sciences, you can go ahead and solve them using solver or LINDO.
Overall, I recommend it for those looking to keep a good Capital Budgeting book.

Great book!
This is a great book which I havn't read for some time and can't find-this should definitely be reprinted

Wonderful book
After reading "The Strayed Sheep of Charun", I was hooked on the universe created. I eagerly read "Cestus Dei" to see how Mr. Roberts had expanded the story, and was not disappointed. If you can find either of these books, hang on to them. They are definitely books to read more than once.

Family History
John Stands in Timber is my daughter's great-grandfather on her father's side. I am purchasing this book to let her know the history she shares as a Northern Cheyenne and to show her how much her great-grandfather cared about his people. I have read the book previously and appreciated the sense of cultural awareness John portrayed through his words. It is a lesson for us all to remember where we came from and appreciate how we got where we are now. I would recommend reading this book, to learn the history of the people and to appreciate that he wasn't just a historian, but a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather and also a good person.

A Cheyenne Chronicle
The Cheyenne was undoubtably one of the most remarkable tribes of the Great Plains. Now you can have a very convenient one volume tribal history of them by John Stands In Timber with the help of anthropologist Margot Liberty. Stands In Timber,an old time Cheyenne, in his whole life collected the memories of his elders about the history of their Nation and he succeeded in editing it to a narrative from the creation to the reservation times. The effort of the author is of a rare kind and the result is also a rare one: you can learn the history of a native nation from the inside.

The Einstein Gold (or God) Age
All the Einstein life is very intersting! For the 20st centuryworld life the 1900-1909 Einstein period is the apex of his scientificcontributions, specially for three papers: those about the Brownian Movement, the Photoelectric Effects and Eletromagnetic Effects when there is a referencial change. All three papers brought to ous news interpretations of those phenomena and revealed the Einstein interpretation capacity of visible and not-visible world. The paper about Photoelectric Effects presented a new quantum views of ligh and material interaction while the Eletromagnetic Effects showed the principles of Special Relativity, a theme that transverse the 20st century and arrive at 21st century without popular technology applications. This book brings a opened, stimulant, and helpful explanations - great lectures - about the principals Einstein ideas. Maybe this book is the first to point closely the life and thinking of a science men.

An extraordinary collection
Readers-

One might question why you might purchase a book such as this. Well the answer is quite simple. Logic. Now when I say logic I don't mean the logic of the words themselves rather the logic that you might read such an impressive work.

Einstien was a genius in his time, a genius yet to be surpassed (in the authority of Science that is). His works are timeless, classic examples of the scientific process and this particular is a well-balanced example.

Written during the years of the 1910s this volume's works depict a dedication to science even through the war in Europe.

A Must Read!

This cookbook brings the enjoyment of Kuleto's home!
This cookbook provides a wonderful opportunity to recreate in your own home some of the delicious dishes you've enjoyed in the restaurant. I loved the "basics" features whether it be aioli, roasting garlic or making variations of marinara sauces. The recipes are very easy to follow and do not have exotic ingredients. They are reminiscent of being in Italy and enjoying wholesome, delicious foods. All you need is lots of wine and good friends to enjoy the food.

Superb, unique Italian cooking
For anyone who has frequented Kuleto's restaurant on Union Square in San Francisco, this book is a MUST!! For those of you who haven't yet gotten there BUY THIS BOOK!! Full of excellent unique menues right out of the restaurant. Make their famous lamb sausage recipe and then follow their recipe to make the sausage with penne, chard and ricotta. The restaurant serves a fantastic appetiser of grilled radichio wrapped in pancetta (with a pesto ceasar dressing) that will knock your socks off - the recipe is in here and I actually drew applause at a dinner party after serving it! Try their unusual dishes like Roast Duck with Dried Cherries and Grappa, Grilled Chicken with Tuscan Bread Salad, or Salmon with Red Wine-Olive Butter...then try their standards like Eggplant Risotto or Braised Veal Shanks, or any of their great pastas.

If you love great food, you will love this book. The recipes are well written and, unlike so many other books from famous restaurants, it actually duplicates their original meals!

Read this book!
The book was a rocket ride for me. It was exciting, well-paced and well written. What's even better is that Delusion is Good is a book you can put to use. It's not so abstract that you can't use it. It's practical and assertive, but it doesn't ever force-feed you. Instead, it takes you by the hand. It guides you to some great places in yourself. And once it does, it really starts to shake stuff up for you. The book works. And it teaches us things we can put to use now, not five years from now!

I couldn't put it down
DELUSION IS GOOD is not your run-of-the mill self-help book. It makes us all look at some things that we might not want to confront. And it requires a little bit of honest self-evaluation to go after it's rather outspoken theme. But once I did, once I took a look at the two matrixes that drive us, Love and Fear, and how we respond to them, I found it exceptional. Once I got the message of my true mission in life, I couldn't put it down.

Excellent book for college drafting course.
This is an excellent college level text.I particularly like the detailed "real world" drafting problems for the students. Also it has a very good apppendix. It is comprehensive enough that we use it in three different courses here at Vincennes University.

EXTREMELY HELPFUL
I have had this book in my drafting library for some time now. I am always using it and recommending it. The book is laid out so that you can go from beginning drafting up through advanced. It not only says what the standards are, but walks you through drafting technology so that you understand why they are like they are. I believe that anyone that is going to be doing drafting should have this in their library.
