This is an excellent collection of papers on vision. Although being an edited book, this one has all the chapters coherently distributed in an easy-to-understand way. Recommended!

The previous edition of "New Directions in Solid State Chemistry" has been my favorite book in our University Library. If you deal with Solid State Chemistry, Inorganic Materials Science or Ceramics you should read this book and keep it on your desk. Then you should read it continuously like a Bible.

It covers a lot of topics on materials synthesis, structures and characterization. One certainly can not keep in mind all compounds and experimental data presented in this book, however it is extremely exciting to find that authors forced you to discover a logic hidden in the huge volume of reviewed experimental facts and later to use this discovery in your own research.

Once I found a new edition of this book at Amazon.com, I ordered it without hesitating a second.

The only problem - it takes long time to process this order.

Of Eagles and Raves is a story set during the War of 1812. Christiana Macklin is a young girl, whose father is a congressman, living in Virginia. A young man, Stephan Page is her father's, who is also a silversmith's, supposed apprentice. Christiana slowly falls in love with him, but she's not sure if she can trust him-could he be a spy? It's a wonderful story full of adventure.

It is a good book for IT people. It can be also very useful for academia, researchers, scientists, and engineers dealing with packet video communications over ATM networks.

A Poem at the Right Moment offers a rare chance to take an inside look at culture in south India. The poems are a snapshot of an evolving verbal form of verse called catus. The verses are known and recited with personal modifications by many literate people in south India. They may mention well known poets, such as Kalidasa, but don't necessarily refer to the actual person. Kalidasa may be incanted in a modern setting, or be conversing with another poet from a different time period. Poetry and poets from former times are reinterpreted in the context of today's world in south India, in a form I found very refreshing.

This book presents an excellent and clear overview of the principles of recombinant DNA in a clear, intelligent manner. The best I have read on the topic by far.

As we progress through life we find ourselves increasingly and unavoidably confronted by our inner needs to define our world and ourselves. We find ourselves amid seas of internal and external changes and we seek constancy. We find ourselves facing, yet not facing, the ever-present haunting questions of what's it like to be here - and - what's it like to be not here.

If life is a journey into the unknown - you don't know how it will proceed or where it will take you - then River of a Thousand Tales is an excellent guide and companion. It speaks to our innermost questions, doubts and feelings without ever imposing itself.

It does not have a social or political agenda, simply a spiritual one. It does not have a time limit; its precepts are timeless. It is not bounded by any point in space; its fables are universal.

Some of the fables are simple; some are mysterious. All are easy to read and at the same time, thought provoking.

As we go forward with our lives in these troubled times, I find River of a Thousand Tales and its author, Rao Kolluru, to be an enduring source of strength, counsel and encouragement.

I'd gone through the book and as well as had an interaction with these authors as we all hail from the same place. I even had attended few classes taken by them. The book had a perfect oscillation of facts with respect to India banking system and their experiences abroad. A book every practising rural banking management student should possess

This is a truley fasinatiing book and I would suggest it to anyone

This book and the journal articles on which it is based pioneer a new branch of statistics. The reader who is unfamiliar with semimartingales can think of them as a generalization of supermartingales, where the latter are roughly a sequence of variables whose means increase and such that each variable is bigger than its conditional mean (a conditional mean is the mean of one thing or variable with another thing or variable fixed). Intuitively, when you use semimartingales to approximate or model something in the real world, you are approximating its mean by a sequence of increasing or decreasing means or alternately both, keeping track of where and when the means increase or decrease inside the mathematics. This allows you to make fewer assumptions than usual about how the things that you are modeling behave, since roughly you only have to keep track of the means. This has an advantage over computer techniques now in common use such as linear and polynomial regression. This book shows that you can actually make statistical estimates for the unknown quantities in your model for large samples ("asymptotically"). The reader is cautioned that a somewhat parallel but interesting theory exists with conditional means replaced by logic-based probability (LBP) means, which is to say that division is replaced by subtraction and adding 1 to the result. The latter allows study of very rare events since it is defined when events have probability zero, and also other events of importance.
