Humorous telling of an old story.
The story of the husband and wife who switched jobs for the day has been a favorite of mine ever since I was a small child. I've read many versions of it. This version is humorous with bold, colorful illustrations. Unlike most other versions, the setting is in the USA. It's a delightful book to be enjoyed by many.

Great book - can teach the next generation boys & girls
This book is very entertaining reading with beautiful illustrations. My 2 yr old daughter loves to hear it, but I think I enjoy it even more. The book is about 4 girls who need to make it in the world. They do not want to be dependent on anyone, but know that being women will make it difficult to become successful. It explains how they learn their trades & land great jobs. In the end, they marry men who love them for who they are and the skills that they have (but marriage was not their only goal in life). In addition, the words of the princess bride can teach a lesson for the next generation.

We love this book
This book contains stories, songs, poems, blessings, and recipes for Hannukah. My kids are 4 and 7 and they both enjoy it. I will read it with them every year. When my son's preschool asked for a Hannukah book for the class, I took this one, and she picked out what she thought was appropriate. It has become our standard reference/story book for Hannukah.

A deeply satisfying tale.
This is one of my favorite books to read to my daughter. The story, (although changed a bit from the original), has a depth to it that can only be felt first hand. The illustrations wonderfully set an enchanted mysterious world, and speak to a part of the soul rarely touched by the average children's fairy tale.

Are you a pumpkinhead?
"Pumpkinhead" combines a story by Eric A. Kimmel with bright, colorful illustrations by Steve Haskamp. Together they tell the story of Pumpkinhead, a little boy who lives in Pumpkintown. Everybody in the town has a pumpkin for a head.

Pumpkinhead decides to journey out into the world to discover if all people have pumpkinheads. What will he discover? You might be surprised!

"Pumpkinhead" is a very clever, deliciously funny children's book with a real satirical edge. The final illustration is priceless. And the story is superbly complemented by Haskamp's comic illustrations. A real gem of a book.

A delightful and surprising tale
This story starts out in the usual way: queen has baby girl, queen dies, wicked stepmother orders girl killed. Of course, the girl doesn't die, but she doesn't take up cleaning house for the Dwarven Miners Union, either. She proves herself adaptable, courageous, resourceful . . . some of the characteristics I love in my daughter. Another nifty thing is the surprise turn in the plot whenever I thought I could predict the next scene. After reading myriad fairy tales, both the surprises and the strong heroine (but strong men, too!) were quite refreshing. And I even liked her father the king. . . .

Eric Kimmel writes well consistently; this is one of his best.

Sirko and the Wolf: A Ukrainian Tale
This is a charming book. This makes a nice introduction to extended family (albeit canine), friendship and helping each other in times of need. It also provides a discussion point or lesson in the shortsightedness of setting a particular value on something and not appreciating true worth. These lessons are engagingly delivered in a story children and adults can relate to. The illustrations are colourful and rich in detail. This book also provides a periferal look at another people, time and culture through the illustrations and setting of the story. This book makes a wonderful gift for a child that has a Ukrainian ancestry and heritage. It is unique and one they can be proud of.

A Taste of Chinese Mythology
An appealing chinese myth about ten sons who unknowingly cause deadly havoc for earth by crossing the sky together. The boys are wonderfully illustrated in the traditional chinese view of ten happy cherubs with loving parents. The events and outcome are written in a way that my six-year old understood the fun, as well as the consequences of the sons' actions, and to some extent, the concept of sacrificing for the greater good.
