God's Smuggler Plus
This is an heirhoom edition which includes the text of Brother Andrew's world-wide best seller, God's Smuggler, plus snatches of other stories of the Persecuted Church. Also a CD of Jars of Clay. Highly recommended.

Awesome!
If you have never read Brother Andrews story, you have no idea what you are missing!!! It is such a page turning adventure! Hard to believe one man could go through so much! Also as a bonus there is a CD with Jars of Clays song "This Road" (a soul sturing song!). You can also put the CD in your computer and see Jars of Clay's pictures while they were visiting the persecuted church. This is a great book and will challenge you in the Lord!

for animal lovers of all ages
AMYFB, is a hit with animal lovers and healers at our house. My daughter is interested in becoming a vet. but anyone who has a rapport with animals will find it interesting and fun to read. Many adult type books of the intrinsic intelligence of animals have already been published :Among Whales and When Elephants Weep are just two of our favorites. So I was especially pleased when a book on this topic was written simply enough for a child yet interesting enough for her mom. Great job! and it just calls out for a sequel!

Recommended for pet lovers and people thinking about a pet!
Caveat: The reviewer is a subject of one of the stories in the book ,but she would not have agreed to be a part of the project if she did not believe in the book!! But all biases aside.......

AMYFB is a wonderful book that chronicles how the animals around us improve our lives and make us happier. Anyone who owns a pet, or spends time around animals at all, know this, but it is refreshing and enlightening to read through these 26 stories and realize the commonality of our experiences!

Dogs, cats, horses, racoons, a dolphin, a donkey, and even a hamster, are all the best of friends to humans in these short, easy-to-read, sometimes sad and often funny stories.

The book is set up with assessments at the end of each story, and a final test at the end to determine how the reader looks upon the true relationship between people and animals.

Having read this book I found myself thinking that perhaps we as human beings could learn a lot from our animal friends. It certainly made me think about the nature of human/animal interactions. I would highly recommend this book as ideal reading for anyone thinking of buying a pet.

The book is directed at children ages 9-16, but can be enjoyed by folks of all ages.

I know I enjoyed it!

Let us read a few pages to get us hooked
John Messina is a wonderful person and has much wisdom. I am curious if this book is about the lifes of his clients or not. I know that he was rated in the top five trial attorneys for the entire united states. I know the technical writing of all his other books is incredible. It does make you wonder if the storyline for this book was from his client list and thier sufferings.

Intriguing!
It is a page-turner with excellent character development. The surprise ending is wonderfully done.

Emergent Curriculum
Published in Paperback by National Association for the Education (01 February, 1994)
Authors: Elizabeth Jones and John Nimmo
Amazon base price: $8.00
Used price: $19.99
Average review score:

An absolute MUST HAVE for those working with young children!
Emergent curriculum is the idea that the themes and activities which happen in a preschool program should center on the interests of the children. FOr teachers who already have this child-centered philosophy, this book is an enjoyable read and an important step in moving towards the Project Approach. For those who are used to teaching with a theme-a-week, pre-written lesson plans (or something similar), this book takes you on a journey of transformation in a very relaxed way. As an early childhood teacher for over 15 years, this is the book that is first on my recommendations for teachers or programs wishing to provide high quality education. It is an easily readable book, mixing good practice with real characters for a book which at times reads like a good novel.

Emerging - A step step beyond...
This book has changed the face of our early childhood program. It has become our journal and map to providing a more appropriate child directed program. I have found that it released our teachers from the bounderies that surrounded them by guiding them to a classroom that is focused on the children's interest and yet provided an approach that was within reach. Emergent was always a frightening concept - but this book brought it down to earth for the staff by walking them through a year long journey of group of teachers - many of them with personalities that are similar to ourselves - breaking down each step and showing the simplicity of the concept. I recommend that this be a guide to all early childhood programs that step forward in their quest to providing a developmentally appropriate enviroment for their children

Excellent American History Resource
History textbooks are usually inadequate and painfully boring. This book is exceptionally well-written, accurate and interesting. It's great!

This book is awesome.
I am a secondary education history major and I use this book in my US history class. I find it to be simply outstanding. It reads like a novel and not like a text book. This is a must have for any history buff.

The Standard for Software Measurement Programs
I would rate this book ****** if it were possible. If you are looking for material on how to start a "software metrics program", look no further. This is the ultimate reference on software measurement initiatives. The PSM method is compatible with the CMMI (Measurement & Analysis Process Area) and the foundation for the ISO/IEC 15939 standard. All of the authors are recognized authorities in software measurement and process improvement. Dr. Barry Boehm (COCOMO author) has written the foreword. The PSM process is sponsored by the DoD and the U.S. Army. The book itself is comprehensive, well-written, and easy to read. It provides ready-to-use templates such as "Measurement Construct Template", "Project Measurement Plan Outline", and "Data Verification Checklist". Chapter outline:

1 - Measurement: Key Concepts and Practices
2 - Measurement Information Model
3 - Plan Measurement
4 - Perform Measurement
5 - Analysis Techniques
6 - Evaluate Measurement
7 - Establish and Sustain Commitment
8 - Measure for Success
Appendix A - Measurement Construct Examples
Appendix B - Information System Case Study
Appendix C - Synergy Integrated Copier Case Study

Note: Appendix A provides 14 detailed, complete examples of measurement constructs ("metrics"). Appendixes B and C provide 2 comprehensive case studies (approximately 60 pages).

It would require at least a 2-day workshop to address all the information provided by this book (probably at 10 times its price). You can't afford to miss it if you are more than casually interested in software measurement. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Off-the-shelf processes for CMMM level 3 and above orgs
There is a wealth of material available from the PSM site, including the PSM Insight application and PSM Guidebook. However this book is not redundant because it is structured as a clearly written introduction to practical software measurement, that includes excellent guidance for implementing it into your organization. In addition, the 304 pages that comprise this book manages to convey the information contained in the existing PSM documentation, and does so much more succinctly.

I found the most valuable parts of this book to be the clearly described measurement model, and the way the authors distinguish between data that is useful to projects and organizational data collection and analysis. This material places PSM in context and is a sound starting point for an organizational SQA initiative.

The case studies reinforces the mechanics of PSM, and also contain advice and pointers for implementing enterprise-wide measurement. Although I've been following the PSM initiative almost since its inception and have read all of the copious materials available, I still gained much from this book. If you're establishing an SQA function or striving for CMM level 4 or above you'll find this book invaluable. The URLs provided will lead to even more material, including a free Windows-based software tool that fully supports the practical software measurement process.

Absolutely Great - All Egyptologists shoud read this!
As a student going to study my masters in Egyptology, I've been reading quite extensively on ancient Egypt. This book's title is originally got me hooked. What I did not expect was a case for the crisis in conservation in Egypt. The Romer's comment on the excavation of KV5 by Kent Weeks (a man I have heard of in archaeology). It turns out that Weeks' excavation techniques are actually speeding up the tombs rate of decay! Many people are not aware of the situation at hand. Read this, get supprtive of Egyptian conservation and don't believe that tourists are just the ones impacting the ancient monuments.

Heart-breakingly beautiful.
In this piece, the Romers take their intimate knowledge and feelings for the Valley of the Kings and put them into the most elequent plea one can ever read. They bring to our attention the shoddy excavation techniques currently being used in the Valley, particularily in the excavation of KV5, and the perilous state of practically all of the Valley's tombs. Even the tomb of Tutankhamun has experienced minor flooding, and the grand tomb of Seti I is on the verge of complete annilation. The pictures of Seti's tomb had me in tears, and the written description of its peril only made those tears flow more freely. I find it revolting how notable Egyptologists see the contents of this book as untrue, and I feel they do so because they don't want to admit/be responsible for just how true it really is. Yes, the book is sad, but if you love Egypt as much as I do, it is entirely too necessary for you to read it. If I had an address, I'd write the Romers and tell them how this piece has impacted me. Since I cannot, I will write now that one person listening is all it takes to rescue these tombs, this history, our history. I am listening. You
