a book for every couple who want to share deeper love.
This book came to me initially when I was searching for some answers on my own deep feelings on what I felt a loving relationship should be and feel like. I often felt alone with these feelings and truly believe that my visit to the library that day to find this book was a real turning point in my life on how I as a women wanted and desired to have a loving, fullfilling relationship with a man.My divorce had left me not only unable to trust again but unable to see the male side of love. This book was and will always be a book I will have or my husband and I will have on our nightstand when we feel we need to comeback to our true love that may have left us for the moment in the hustle and bustle and pressure of our modern world. We have often referred back to this book when we are having a "glitch" in our relationship.A book I would recommend to every couple.

Even better than the Wraith Player's Guide
Don't be fooled by the title- although it focuses on the dark side of every Wraith, this outstanding book contains tons of important information on all sorts of subjects- from exactly what your Eidolon IS, and when it comes into play, to roleplaying romance and love.

Other important topics covered include exactly how Castigation affects your Shadow- and while your Shadow is by definition your adversary, the isn't always your enemy. There is a lot more to Psyche/Shadow interaction than just "I'm the Good Guy, he's the Bad Guy."

Every Circle of Wraiths should have this one- you owe it to yourselves... and to your Shadows. :)

A Small Boy and Others: Imitation and Initiation in American Culture from Henry James to Andy Warhol (Series Q)
Published in Hardcover by Duke Univ Pr (Txt) (1998)
Author: Michael Moon
Amazon base price: $54.95
Average review score:

Queer Sensibility and Today's "America"
This collection of essays clusters under the idea that the characteristic repetition one finds in American popular culture arrives by way of rituals of "imitation and initiation" in the lives of sexual outsiders [i.e., queers]. These essays are intelligent, provocative, even beautiful analyses of such 20th-century culture-makers as Henry James, Joseph Cornell, Andy Warhol, David Lynch, Kenneth Anger, Maria Montez, Jack Smith, and Vaslav Nijinsky. Each essay is chattily vernacular enough to allow the reader to forget that it's academic scholarship (good for your brain) and not just plain fun. Gossipy tidbits like Cornell's fondness for Kool-Aid and little girls enliven Moon's observations of the artist's memory-saturated work. The way Moon re-homosexualizes an apparently de-homosexualized text such as the film MIDNIGHT COWBOY should inspire a wholly new approach in gay and lesbian criticism. And I thought the treatment of Charles Ludlam's and Ethyl Eichelberger's theatre, largely ignored in academic circles up to now, a fitting climax to a thoroughly enjoyable and illuminating book. A SMALL BOY AND OTHERS deserves a wide and appreciative audience. It offers an elaboration of and a correction to current understandings of the role "camp" has played in shaping contemporary American culture.

Social Formalism: The Novel in Theory from Henry James to the Present
Published in Hardcover by Stanford Univ Pr (1998)
Author: Dorothy J. Hale
Amazon base price: $51.00
Used price: $11.70
Average review score:

A difficult, but ultimately richly rewarding read
As a 23 year-old, I write this review from the perspective of a dedicated, but relatively inexperienced, literary scholar. I found Hale's book an enlightening and engaging read (indeed, saying it is inspirational would not be going to far). Due to my limited familiarity with certain thinkers examined within the text (such as Bahktin, Genette) I found the book somewhat difficult to follow at times, but this was a result of my inadequate background in literary theory rather than any inherents failures on the part of the book or author. But to say that I didn't fully understand the book is not to say that reading it was not a wonderful and thought provoking experience. As inexperienced a scholar as I am, I still understood and appreciated most of the book and would like to unequivocally praise what Dr. Hale has accomplished. I would recommend the book to anyone interested in narrative theory, though beginners (such as myself) must be prepared for a demanding text that will only prove intellectually productive in proportion to the amount of effort and concentration applied in the reading of it. All in all, a wonderful book. I eagerly await the author's next effort.

Spirited Yarns: Classic Humorous Ghost Stories (Spirited Yarns , Vol 2)
Published in Audio Cassette by Stuffed Moose Audio, Inc. (1996)
Authors: Henry James, Richard Middleton, Frank R. Stockton, Oscar Wilde, and Stuffed Moose Audio
Amazon base price: $12.95

wonderful dramatization
This audio drama contains four short stories by great authors such as Henry James and Oscar Wilde. In my opinion, Wilde's Canterville Ghost is the best of the four. The special sound effect are both scary and humourous. Wilde's weird sense of humor about a British old ghost meets his match of an American family is perfectly interpreted in audio form by the producer of this audiobook.

"A Thing Divided": Representation in the Late Novels of Henry James
Published in Hardcover by Fairleigh Dickinson Univ Pr (1996)
Author: John Landau
Amazon base price: $32.50
Used price: $9.00
Average review score:

Incisive post-structuralist reading with humanist temperamen
Landau understands the dimensions of Jamesian literature within the modern constraints of 90's academics; what surpasses the texts is neither its writerliness nor its readerliness, but the pedantics of beauracademics.

"a thing divided" is about double standards, two-facedness, equivocation, ambiguity, apartheid, and the nothingness which the deconstruction of binarism left behind it in its dormant wake.

intellect had two chances; now, undoubtedly, it has none

What makes this book interesting is that it was written between the murders and the trial. Huie knew who the murderers were, how they did it, and never expected a guilty verdict.

The book introduces you in detail to Michael (Mickey) Schwerener and all the details leading up to his murder. This detail will help you understand exactly why and how these murders took place.

This latest edition includes updates by the author to compare his early speculation against the results of the trial.

A specialized slice of early American frontier history
Wheel Boats On The Missouri: The Journals And Documents Of The Atkinson-O'fallon Expedition 1824-1826 is an archival reference showcasing a specialized slice of early American frontier history - as reflected by the original words of the wheel boat men who were directed by President James Monroe to negotiate peace treaties with Native American tribes along the Missouri River. The resulting use of 475 infantry soldiers, "gunboat diplomacy," and man-powered wheel boats across a 3,000 mile expedition is meticulously detailed among numerous primary references. Journals dealing with daily life, navigation difficulties, American Indian cultures and political negotiations provide an amazing glimpse into army life in an America of almost two centuries past. Wheel Boats On The Missouri is an impressive work of scholarship and a strongly recommended addition to academic and community library American history reading lists and reference collections.
