Questioning the "improvements" in the new edition
This is by far our favorite children's book of colors. The rhymes and illustrations are great. However, we bought the first edition in 1993 and we think it was even better. Why would the editors take out Lavender and Turquoise, Black, White and Gray? I'm glad they made a new edition, though, we waited 3 years to buy it after our 1993 edition wore out.

Everyone needs to Com Out and Play
Maya Ajmera and John D. Ivanko's wonderful picture book, Come Out and Play, features brilliantly detailed photos that depict children from various ethnicities playing and having fun in different countries around the world. A phrase or two accompanies every photo in the book, telling how and where the child in the illustration is playing. For instance, the caption "Paddling a canoe in Guatemala" appears beside a photo of a child doing just that. These abundant, colorful photos throughout the book do a wonderful job of telling children that they are no different than other kids around the world and that it doesn't matter if they speak differently or have a different color skin, they all are alike in some way.

Accounting on your own
I used the first volume of this book in an Accounting class over ten years ago, and just finished Accounting II with this one. I found it to be a really good book. Our class was mostly self directed, the professor only got involved when somebody had a problem. If you have finished Accounting I and want to continue on your own, this would be a good book to use. If you are not up on your basic accounting, buy the first volume before you move onto this one.

Kermit's Teeny Tiny Farm
This book is excellent for the pre-reading child. In place of certain nouns there are pictures which the child names. It helps the child to learn pre-reading skills such as directionality and spacing. It helps the child see how reading works before he/she is actually able to decode words. I highly recommend it for preschool children, but it should be read with an adult or other person who is able to read. It is not primarily a picture book.

Private thoughts for a different perspective.
"Quill of the Wild Goose" is a compilation of the privae thoughts of Private Joel Molyneux. An avid letter writer, Joel presents his thoughts about the Civil War, camp life, and his personal situation thereby providing posterity with a unique perspective on living through the conflict and maintaining high personal standards.

The book begins with his enlistment into the 141st Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers and ends with his return to private life and his beloved Elvira. In these pages we follow a green young man through the heavy fighting that befell the 141st and his thoughts and commentaries that were carried home to his intended and friends and relatives.

Editor, Kermit Molyenux Bird (Joel's grandson)has meticulously ordered and integrated the letters with the diary to present a complete view of the maturation of the young man. Bird has also supplied clarifying comments about some of the personal references and an attention holding introduction and set of afterthoughts. This edition is complete with Mr. Bird's addition of historical background and reference material in the form of indices.

Joel Molyneux left a great legacy. I'm proud to be his great-grandson.

"Roosevelt Women," which reads like a novel, was a pleasure
I was delighted to read Betty Boyd Caroli's new book, "The Roosevelt Women." While I've read a lot about Eleanor Roosevelt, I knew next to nothing about the other Roosevelt women. According to Caroli's book, ER's aunts had a major influence on her. Perhaps the future First Lady saw in them what strong women could accomplish. The aunts and cousins Caroli describes were quite accomplished in their own right. They wrote books, traveled the world, one became a state legislator and one even gave a speech at the Republican National Convention. While they seemed to have very active lives apart from their husbands, they also played traditional female roles raising children and running large households. "The Roosevelt Women" reads like a novel. It was a pleasure to learn about the other women in this amazing family.

This book brings the Roosevelt women alive.
I wasn't expecting to like this book. The Roosevelt women I knew about, like Eleanor, seemed too wealthy and upper class to interest me. However, once I started reading (at a friend's recommendation), I was drawn into each of these Roosevelt women's stories. The history and politics in the book were easy to grasp, and everything that happened in the lives of the women discussed was made vivid and dramatic by the author. I wish I could sit down with her and have a cup of coffee and hear about the parts she left out.

THE ROOSEVELT WOMEN reads like a good novel.
I've just finished a wonderful book which I'd like to recommend to anyone interested in a good read. Betty Boyd Caroli's, THE ROOSEVELT WOMEN, reads like a good novel. It's filled with interesting stories, enticing gossip, and legendary women, - all combined with good history. Although I was familiar with Eleanor Roosevelt's story, I must admit that I knew very little about most of the Roosevelt women Ms. Caroli introduced me to. These aunts and cousins were role models for Eleanor - women who traveled the world, wrote books, served in state legislatures, even addressed the Republican National Convention - all while raising families and running large households. If you want some insight into the lives of the women in this very special American family, this is the book for you.

Huh?? I don't get it...
This book was awful!! It was boring and hard to read!! Where did he get this information?? I did not see a bibliography anywhere.

Its Ok for an Economics book
If you are reading this book for fun it is really boring and very hard to get into. But if you are reading the book to learn something or are trying to get into sports marketing this book would help you. The book uses a lot of examples that sometimes make it seem as though he wanted the book longer. If being used for reference the book is laid out very well and would be easy to go to if you wanted to find a specific topic or idea. So like I originally said if you want the book for the purpose of reading for pleasure don't choose this one! But if you are using it to learn about it is a great tool.

Weird stuff occurs
I am a student at the University of Wisconsin, and recently Kermit introduced himself to me. He seemed very nice. But it is a little weird that he gave me his number, knowing that I was only 18. I had no idea how old he was, but since I read this book review, I am a little weirded out. Sounds too old for me to be randomly chillin' with. That's kinda sketch. But I'm sure he's a great guy and wrote a wonderful book. Focusing on it's content, I'd say it's a must read for anyone interested in sports marketing. I've never read anything so easy to follow and informative. Hi Kermit! Your cell phone must have been turned off. I did call, but I didn't leave a message. Sorry. It was nice meeting you, though.
