In my opinion this is one of the most important books ever written. It goes into detail about how north and south pole magnetic energies affect everything on our planet. Using the north or south pole of a magnet you can alter the genetics of plants, animals and yes, humans. Many ailments can be eliminated or greatly improved provided that the correct pole is used for the specific problem. Magnets can also be used to literally slow the aging process. The use of south pole magnetic energy can have dangerous and undesired effects. This is a serious threat that all people should know about. I have taken a look at a number of other books on magnets and nothing compares to the books of Albert Roy Davis and Walter C. Rawls, Jr.

Mr. Davis, the American pioneer in magnetic research and healing, began his research in the 30's. This book covers a 40 year span of research, correcting misconceptions in the application of unipoled magnet therapy for health treatment of ailments. He explains how he cured cancer in the laboratory in over 300 cases of rodents using bionorth pole energy; tells how to increase ESP; and includes photographs of cell mutation and their cure using bionorth energy. A must-have book for every novice and professional in this field

As well as providing the only available in-depth look at The Master's life, the book includes a poignant account of the author's visit to Sunnybank -- written in purest Terhunese -- and a number of pictures.

The only thorough and balanced biography extant on Albert Payson Terhune. A few minor errors, but eminently readable and much original research. Very difficult to find, unfortunately, but no collection is complete without.

I learned everything that I need to know about word processing using this book. I had no knowledge of computers when this book was first printed. I entered word processing shcool in the 90's and this book was issued as the premier text book. This book proved to be easy and changed my life forever.

As Peter Dale Scott states in his excellent book 'Deep Politics', McCarthyism was one of the main scandals in the US in the twentieth century.
Therefore, this volume composed by Prof. Fried, with the most important documents about this phenomenon (laws, interrogations, judgments ...) is a most useful reminder of what really happened. Also, his analysis of the facts is objective and to the point.

Prof. Fried defines the red scare as 'a mass phenomenon that may have comprised a majority of the electorate, with one abiding passion, that Communism was the sum of human iniquity and that to destroy it all means were justified'. (p. 118)

Some of the villains (R. Reagan, R. Nixon, A. Schlesinger Jr., E. Kazan, L.J. Cobb) in this shameful episode of US politics, made brilliant careers afterwards.

The justification by those who accused colleagues and friends could be right (e. g. Kazan: The Communists automatically violated the daily practices of democracy), but it was a most inhuman behaviour.
As Lillian Hellman wrote: 'But to hurt innocent people whom I knew many years ago in order to save myself is, to me, inhuman and indecent and dishonorable. I cannot and will not cut my conscience'. (p.138)

The overwhelming majority of the accused dropped for good out of their profession. Only a few, like directors Jules Dassin and Joseph Losey, found work in Europe.

I must recommend the above mentioned book by Peter Dale Scott, who gives a brilliant analysis of MacCarthyism: who really pulled the strings behind the veil and why it was abruptly stopped.

A most necessary reminder of an unnecessary and unjustified witch-hunt.

This is a well writeen, thoroughly researched book on Pedro Menendez De Aviles, a Captain General for the Spanish Fleets, Governor of Cuba, Founder of Ft. St. Augustine and more. It mainly focuses on his Military career, especially focusing on Florida. A very good book

This gorgeous book is nominally about cities, but through elaborate color illustrations, cross-sections and graphics, it depicts human endeavor and activity as well.

This is a large (though lightweight) book, approximately 10" x 12", and each of the cities depicted are given six pages. The first two-page spread puts the city into a textual and graphic context. The second spread depicts a building or the city being described, and these illustrations are dense with activity revealed more acutely with cross-sections, blow-ups and detail. An illustrated timeline of the century also runs along the border of these two pages. The final spread explains the centerpiece illustration and offers more detail of some aspect of the time. For example, Paris in the 12th Century first describes the Middle Ages and the history of Paris, and explains why so many cathedrals were built in this era, accompanied by a map of Europe showing many of them; the centerpiece illustration shows the construction of Notre Dame, with details of smiths, roofers, masons and carvers at work, and a timeline along the border that shows 22 other significant events of the century, such as the death of Omar Khayyam, an appearance of Halley's Comet, the birth of Genghis Khan, the murder of Thomas a Becket, the ascension of Richard the Lion-Hearted to the English throne and the construction of the Leaning Tower of Pisa; finally, a description of the cathedral work is given along with detailed text and illustrations of Notre Dame's carvings and stained glass, including the Rose Window.

The text is informative and detailed, though this is a supplement to history texts and not a substitute, with an emphasis on how people of the time lived and worked. The cities chosen are historically and culturally significant: Jerusalem of the 11th century with a discussion of religion and the Crusades; Paris of the 12th century, with a discussion of the cathedrals of Europe; a Mongol tent city of the 13th century; 14th century Koblenz, with a discussion of the Plague; Lisbon and Mozambique of the 15th century; 16th century Florence, with a discussion of Renaissance art and learning; Osaka of the 17th century, with a discussion of Kabuki and No theatre; Vienna of the 18th century; 19th century London; and 20th century New York, emphasizing its immigrant populations.

If you are a history buff, or have a child studying history, this lush book will add dimension to your/their understanding. Highest recommendation.

Metropolis is an amazing tour de force for readers of all ages. It seems to be a children's book at first glance, with full-paged color illustrations, but it satisfies the curiosities of any reader about life in different cities and different times. Where else could you learn about the construction of Notre Dame Cathedral in the 12th century AND Koblenz at the height of the plague in the 14th century? I plan to keep this book as a family treasure and pass it down to my children some day. Read it!!

I brought this book for my daughter who plays soccor and had to read a biography for school. She loved it and read it aleast three times! She is an average reader and was able to read it on her own. Now I'll buy more books about Mia. Go for it!

This was an awesome book! Mia is a really great player and this book told all about her life, family, and determination. I found out that even though she's had a lot of success, she's had difficulties too. I recommend it to anyone who likes Mia Hamm or soccer.

This book gives additional ideas and creative outlets to enhance the student's involvement in novels. It is hard for a teacher to come up with many ideas with time constraints what they are. This book gives many different directions to go. Each class I teach is so different that I can adapt ideas from this book to fit the class I am working with. There are references to other helpful sources and other teaching aids and where to get them. There are excellent writing activities to get students thinking and they are broad enough to fit all learning levels. There are vocabulary words for each novel and questions for chapters. It is an excellent resource for many novels that are in class sets for study.

This book is destined to become a classic. It folds layers and layers of in-your-face emotional experiences as a motorcyclist; as a human being, wrapped into the experience of a Vietnam veteran, one who is simply attempting to derive some meaning from his experience as a soldier. I found the book to be riveting, couldn't put it down. Any biker, soldier, American citizen should consider this book to be a first on their shopping list.
