The very best in dictionaries for any language.
Let's face it, dictionary-making is one of the most difficult linguistic tasks when working with any language. The decisions are complex and often require detailed analysis far beyond the skills of a single linguist. This dictionary is a true team effort and has been decades in the making. Much of the team membership are native speakers of Hopi as well.

This dictionary is a truly outstanding effort and deserves a place in every library of languages and linguistics, whether the library is focused on the languages of Native America or not. There are only a couple dozen dictionaries in the world that clearly exceed the exhaustiveness and production quality of this volume. This dictionary of Hopi is the very best dictonary to have been produced for ANY language of Native America. It is superior to dictionaries of the majority of minority languages of Europe as well.

As far as size and production quality, it exceeds most "college-level" dictionaries of English, although not quite as large as the "unabridged" dictionaries of English.

With the imminent extinction of many of the languages of the Americas, this dictionary is unlikely to be superseded as the dictionary we all wish we could make.

Taco's for beginners - a classic
I have often marvelled at how such seemingly simple ingredients can be transformed into such culinary delights as those portrayed amongst the lighthearted prose of Mary's arguably finest ouvre. That this is also a book which is written for children only enhances it's appeal in my family. Well done Mary!

An outstanding natural history text for the eastern Sierras
Sometimes a book comes along at just the right time. In my case, I happened across this book in the local bookstore the day I returned from my first exploration of the White Mountains and the Highway 395 corridor. Thumbing through it I realized it was a wealth of information to help me decipher the many plants and animals I had seen on my trip. It is an excellent compilation of nearly everything one is likely to encounter exploring this unique region. Whether it be geology, native vegetation, insects, fishes, amphibians, reptiles, or mammals, there is a chapter in here for each. And these are not simplified overviews of only the most common species, they are detailed discussions of numerous species and subspecies. Despite the detail, the writing style is easy to read. Each chapter is lavishly illustrated with black-and-white line drawings. A center insert also includes color photos of many arthropods and plant species.

Though the focus is on the eastern slopes of the Sierras, it is often applicable to nearby areas. For instance it describes bristlecone pines found only in the White Mountains. The book also covers certain associated areas, most notably the surrounding desert communities.

Genny Smith has done a wonderful job of coordinating the writing styles of many different authors. Having been involved in these types of collaborations myself, I know this is no easy task. The overall result makes this book a necessary addition to the libraries of both professionals and amateurs alike.

a former camper 's thoughts
As a former camper, this book brought back wonderful memories of my experiences as a camper in l949 andl950. It contains a whole section of pictures of the camp , the counslers and campers from the very begining of the camp until the present. It also contains a listing of all the campers for each year and their tribe. I had forgotten so many of the names of my summer friends and this book gave me all their names! I only wish I knew how to get in touch with them today. There is a wonderful history of the camp, a detailed account of many of the counslers, how tribal customs were established and in general,a meticulously documented record of the camp since it was started. I spent one whole weekend day reading the book and my happy summers of '49 and '50 were mine again ! I highly recommend this book to anyone who has attended Waldemar If you would like to be reunited in memory with people like Doris, Shannon, Johnny, moments on Tribal hill, the Ideal girl ceremony, field days and old long forgotten friends, this book will take you back to them!

Services Marketing (McGraw-Hill Series in Marketing)

this book may help you.
First of all, I like the structure of this book because it uses Gap Model to connect the content of the whole book. At the begining of this book, it first introduces the importance and tools of service marketing. Then it chooses Gap Model to divide this book into different parts. Under different gap problem, the book shows the ways to close the gap. I believe this structure helps to understand more easily and relate what should be done under different problems.

Secondly, many diagrams are used to describe the concept under service marketing. Service blueprint in the chapter 6 is a good example. It uses diagrams to explain how to draw, how to read and how to use the service blueprint. It is very clear and useful to explain in this way.

However, there are still some drawbacks. For example, when talking about the different kinds of strategies used under service marketing, sometimes the explanation is too simple and not in depth.

Great Book
As a former student of Dr. Bitner, her course and this book made up the foundation that the Services Marketing and Management MBA program at Arizona State Uni. built from. It's an extensive review of how customers are the most important part to a service oriented business, and to neglect them at any touch point is a service failure.
This book will outline the process by which any company, be it real or virtual, can develop world class service.
This book and the SMM program at Arizona State University are highly recommended.

Great!
The book is very clear in the format and structure. It talks about the solutions of the problems arising in service marketing step by step. It first describes what service is and the increasing importance of service. Then, it puts much emphasis on people, the very important marketing mix in service. It focuses on customers: how customers perceive and expect service. Next, it focuses on providers: how companies know what customers expect; how they select the right service designs and standards; how they deliver service to standards and how they match performance to promising.

It is also good to have a very detailed example (case) in the beginning of each chapter and the content will very often refer to that example, which make me easier to understand. But sometimes, I think it would be better if more different examples are used in the same chapter.

Besides, the GLOBAL FEATURE, the TECHNOLOGY SPOTLIGHT and the EXHIBIT make the book even more fruitful and let me know more about the related areas under that topic. Great!

The story is enchantingly told by a great writer.
The story of the Authurian legends are twisted with the creativity of Mary Stewart's imagination to create this enchanting telling of Merlin and his very own Aurthur. Stewart creates a fictional character named Ralph that the childhood of today's day and age can relate to. You follow Merlin's conquest through his trouble's and his trimphs until the very end of the book. It is suspenseful until the end, but doesn't give up then. It keeps you reading until the very last word. The only dislike that I have come to with this book is the fact that it is slow to get in to, but aren't the best understood books tht way? You must have a basis for what you are reading even if you haven't read the rest of the saga. (The first book) as I hadn't when I sat down to enjoy this well told story.

Excelent book!
I started this book with the expectation that it would be equal to it's mediocre prequel. I soon found, however, that Mary Stewart's book "The Hollow Hills" far outdoes "The Crystal Cave". Though both books follow the legend of Arthur fairly well "The Hollow Hills" has more action and the ending is much more satisfying. "The Hollow Hills" continues right from where "The Crystal Cave" leaves off. The main character is the powerful and wise sorcerer, Merlin. The book follows his struggle raising the young Arthur and helping Arthur rise to the position of High King of all Britain. All throughout this there are spies and bounty hunters hired to kill Arthur before he reaches the age he can claim the crown. This book shows a unique view on the Arthurian legends. Instead of following a knight of the round table or the king himself, as in many of the books about King Arthur, it follows a character who appears in most every legend about the infamous King. This book gives Merlin's perspective on all of the events that made King Arthur's life into legend. The book follows Arthurian legend well. Of course, there can be no story that perfectly follows the legend because there are thousands and thousands of legends pertaining to King Arthur. Even though they cannot be all represented in a single interpretation, "The Hollow Hills" follows as many of them as possible without contradicting itself. I does, however, go against some of the more well known legends such as the origin of Excalibur. Mary Stewart is an incredible writer. She describes everything very well without becoming annoyingly detailed. The world that she creates for this book is beautifully sculpted with her masterfully chosen words. All of her characters come alive when reading the book. Unfortunately, the beautiful setting which Mary Stewart uses for this book is not a very realistic representation of Medieval ages. The threat of starvation and disease that ran rampant in those times isn't very well represented. Though the book starts off a little bit slow, after it catches the reader up with the events from the first book, "The Crystal Cave", it quickly speeds up. Mary Stewart uses suspense to keep her readers interested. The suspense also makes the book hard to put down, which is a good attribute for a book. I picked up this book and read through all 436 pages in less than a week. There are simply no good places to put the book down at. The ending leaves the reader satisfied but still wanting to read more. Mary Stewart leaves it so that there can be a sequel but can be read as an individual book and still be appreciated for its full value. The reader looses very little by not reading the other books but still gains very much by reading the others. "The Hollow Hills" is an excellent book about a very interesting time in history. It's a fast paced book and is full of action and suspense. I would gladly recommend this book to anyone who has the slightest interest in King Arthur. I can't wait to read the other two books in the series.

MERLIN TELLS THE TRUE TALE OF KING ARTHUR
This is a wonderful telling of the King Arthur legend from Merlin's point of view. Merlin is an engaging character who becomes more human through Ms. Stewart's literary skills. This is a long novel but quite worth your time. The pace picks up speed midway through the novel and moves quickly towards the conclusion. I enjoyed learning things about Arthur that T. H. White in the Once and Future King doesn't tell the reader. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
