my daughter loves spot
my daughter enjoys spot ever since we started reading to her. It's incredible but the way she connected with the character, "loveable spot" enabled her to start learning new words in english,(we are a spanish speaking family) the pictures are clear, and the colours are plain which helps her to look for items easily.

Interactive Fun for Toddlers
Eric Hill's Spot books are wonderful fun. Instead of his usual, gentle storyline here he gives kids lots of animals, colors, numbers and shapes to explore by lifting the many sturdy flaps. His drawing style is so appealing that children can't help but get into it. My 23 month old will often sit and "read" the whole book on her own, carefully lifting each flap and remembering the words out loud. We have several Spot books and they are all favorites.

SPOT LAUGHS - OUT LOUD!!
.

The great Eric Hill SPOT machine keeps churning them out. At last count there were 168 titles on Amazon.com's list, including stories in 5 languages.

Sadly this title is currently out of print. It deserves to get back in the catalogs since it's one of Eric's best. The use of "Play-a-Sound" technology and its large format make it the perfect entertainment medium for young children.

There are 16 different sounds ranging from an alarm clock to farm animals and a fantastic splash.

The story prompts the child to press the picture/button with the appropriate sound. This simple form of interactive storytelling / story making is very engaging and will appeal to all children.

WARNING: Don't leave this book on the floor. A walk in the dark could generate a rooster's crow long before sunrise.

Wheat Flour Messiah: Eric Jansson of Bishop Hill
Published in Paperback by Southern Illinois Univ Pr (Trd) (1997)
Author: Paul Elmen
Amazon base price: $18.00
Used price: $12.00

A Bishop Hill must-read
In 1850, Eric Jansson of Sweden, a charismatic leader confident in his divine mission, led some 1,200 followers to the United States, marking the beginning of the exodus of emigrants from Sweden to North America. This book tells Jansson's story, from his birth in Biskopskulla, through his receiving his diving mandate, his conflict with the Lutheran state-church, his emigration to the United States, and his eventual death. Along the way, Paul Elmen, a Professor of Moral Theology at Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, looks at Jansson's theology and its roots, what made conflict between it and Swedish Lutheranism inevitable, and how it differed from Wesleyan theology.

If you are interested in Eric Jansson, or the commune he formed at Bishop Hill, Illinois, USA, then you really must read this book. It covers Eric Jansson's life in greater detail than I have ever seen it covered. Also, Professor Elmen's examination of Jansson's theology was quite fascinating, and gave me a greater understanding of what he and his followers believed. Overall, I thought that this was an excellent book on Eric Jansson, one that I highly recommend.

My 2 year old looks for this book wherever he sees book!
This book gets the very young actively involved in the tale of a missing puppy. As the mother dog searches for her missing puppy, Spot, the child looks under stairs, in a clock, under a rug, and other fun places trying to find Spot. Each page offers a new hiding place for the child to explore, and at every turn the child finds a different animal to identify. The child continues the search for Spot in earnest. This book seems to delight young book lovers. Be prepared to read this one over and over and over and over ...

One of the greatest ever children's picture book.
This is a great picture book for children. They love lifting up the flaps to look for naughty little Spot. It will soon become one of their favourite books, and they will learn the story off by heart, even if they haven't learnt to read yet. The story and pictures are simple but they are great fun

Wonderful Fun for Little Ones
This sturdy little book has gotten much use at our house. It became my daughter's favorite "lift-the-flap" book. The drawing style and gentle story engage children to participate in the search for little Spot the dog. Perfect for 1-3 year olds. All of Eric Hill's Spot Books are cool but this one is a real favorite. Enjoy!
