A Breed Apart a Tribute to The Hunting Dogs That Own Our Sou
I was inspired by the compilation of bird dog stories found within this book. If you enjoy the excitement, fear, despair, and elation associated with the training, ownership and running of all breeds of bird dogs, you will enjoy this book. The authors help you relive the moments you have endured with your own dogs in addition to helping you imagine the hunts you have yet to experience. This is a definite must read for bird dog enthusiasts.

For all dog lovers
I borrowed this book from a friend and had a tough time putting it down. Great stories from writers who truly love their dogs. A few of the essays are sad, but all of them allow us to share a part of a fellow dog lovers life with his best friend. Definitely a must read.

Global Business Today
Published in Paperback by McGraw Hill Text (2004)
Author: Charles W. L. Hill
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

Lack of recent data
The book covers nearly all subjects under globalization. In the first part, it describes the environment of global enterprise. In the second part, it discusses about strategies. The examples given in the book are good and specific for the subject. However they are not the recent ones. In such a fast growing business environment, the examples should be much more recent. The most recent ones are from 1994. For example it only covers Asian crisis in the postscript. Therefore I would recommend a book which has recent data and examples in it.

Waste of Money
The level of detail is wrong from start to finish. It's too detailed to give you a good introduction to replication architecture. It's too general to be useful for hands-on work. There's a market out there for a real replication primer; too bad this isn't it.

A reasonably good book but is not a primer
I got this book before I attended the Sybase Replication Server course and I found it hard to understand the concepts and explanations in the book. I re-read this book after I have attended the Sybase course and found that it is easier to understand. It's a good book to have if you are still using Replication Server 11.0. Things are slightly different in versions 11.5 and above. If you want another book to suppliment the Sybase manuals, this is a reasonably good book (not that you have many choices).

Excellent, detailed, but what about an update for RS 12.0?
If you are looking for a detailed, comprehensive book on rep srvr, are in the middle of implementing a complex rep environment, or don't have time to take the classes, this book is an EXCELLENT resource. Mr. Clifford's target audience is those already reasonably versed in Rep (I am a former Sybase Prof. Services consultant & Sybase Education instructor). Sybase's manuals are generalized to some degree whereas Mr. Clifford's book provides the level of detail necessary to understand this complex topic without being excessively verbose. The writing style is clear and to the point. Keep in mind that this was written in 1995 and ASE and RS have changed since then. What are the chances for a 2nd edition for RS 12.0?

ok, but...
i think that the guide that came with my book, which shows pictures of the slides that professors are supposed to use was completely usless, if you have to purchase this book for a class, try and get a used copy. It is not worth the price you have to pay. There is another book by Breyli and Meyers titles Corporate Finance which is much more comprehensive and much better.

Ships that pass in the night
These so called tall ships are a lot smaller looking than you'd imagine! My surprise and dander were brought straight into consternation mode when I found them to be a mere 7.2 inches at the highest! What a very silly idea tall ships in a small book! My daughter has drawn taller ships and she's only 4! Dont be fooled by this book, don't judge it by its conniving title like me. My whole family was both saddened and disappointed! I hope our next book Clockwork Orange does what it says!

Exciting Times Ahead
Just kidding. Reading this book was about as exciting as watching paint dry. Even Dr. Suess was more informative.

Useless 101
Reading this book is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Even Dr. Seuss is more informative. The authors have proved that saying absolutely nothing in 14 chapters is certainly possible.

Don't waste any time in this book ! Please !!
There are a lot of description in this book is just the author's opinion. And ususlly, the auther's opinion don't showing consistency of reasoning. For example, in page 85, this book tells us that innovation will lead an industry to fragmentation rather than consolidation. How a doubtful theory !! The author doesn't prove it, but just only say it.
