The Most Comprehensive Book on Amalgam Illness and Treatment
I purchased this book almost a year ago. I wanted to wait before writing a review, and put the book through a thorough test.

Because of the price, I hesitated for a couple of weeks before buying the book. I now consider it the best investment I have made in my health short of amalgam replacement. In fact, many of the ideas in the book are likely to make you feel better more quickly than will amalgam replacement.

Andy is a chemist who treated his own amalgam illness by doing extensive research and considering the biochemical effects mercury has on the body. Many of the supplements and other things he recommends can make a tremendous positive impact on your health. Because of differences in biochemistry, mercury can affect different people in somewhat different ways. Having the book really helps you develop an understanding of what mercury is doing to your body and to sort out what to avoid and what is likely to help you feel better.

The book discusses diagnosis -a difficult subject. He includes the realities of mercury challenge tests, hair tests and other methods of diagnosis. He includes a self-diagnosis that involves studying a combination of symptoms and lab tests. A certain number of positive results are used to determine a probability of chronic mercury illness. I was able to use my symptoms and basic medical lab test (that I had all ready done and had on file) to determine that I had amalgam illness (with over 99% probability). I tested several friends and family members; most came out negative for amalgam illness and one result indicated more tests were needed. I did no further testing on myself and decided to pursue amalgam replacement and treatment.

I finished with the dental work in July 2002, and began chelation therapy in October, treating myself with alpha-lipoic acid as described in the book. After a few months of chelation, almost half of my symptoms were gone and most of the others were greatly diminished. I no longer suffer from seasonal allergies, sciatica, angina, or depression. I plan on continuing treatment until my health stops improving. This might seem slow, but I have been dealing with these symptoms for years. One of the lessons I learned from Andy's book is, when it comes to chelation therapy, faster is not always better.

You can read about my health on the yahoo "dental-testimonials" group.

Amalgam Illness:Everything you need to know
Amalgam Illness, Diagnosis and Treatment by Andrew Cutler is by far and away the best book on this subject I have read. It not only directs one in making this difficult diagnosis but clearly explains how mercury causes multiple abnormalities in the chemistry of the body. I especially liked the coverage of the effects of mercury on the endocrine system. Mercury's multiple deleterious effects on the body are covered here as are the means to treat this condition. Dr. Cutler explains which treatment strategies are likely to work and which could make the patient worse. The supplements and medications likely to be helpful in treating amalgam illness are clearly enunciated as are the steps those poisoned with mercury need to take to retake control of their lives. At a time when so many people suffer from fatigue, malaise, depression, and diseases of unknown origin for which no specific cause can be pinpointed, the possibility that heavy metal poisoning may be related to their medical conditions needs consideration. With the controversy regarding mercury effects on health coming to the forefront, Dr. Cutler's clear and concise book on the adverse effects of mercury is especially timely. It has detailed descriptions of chemistry and physiology making it valuable reading for the clinician and layman alike. It is well-referenced with excellent diagrams. I would highly recommend it to anyone trying to gain an understanding of the far reaching effects of mercury on the human body.

Amalgam Illness, Diagnosis and Treatment: What You Can Do
This book is an excellent resource for people who are having a health problem & their doctor does not have a clue. The book empowers you, the patient to work with your doctor and get the care you need. It gives you information on effective medical treatments your "health plan doctor" might not be aware of. It tells you how to use scientific fundamentals to interpret clinical laboratory tests to find the problem(s) so you can guide your busy doctor to fix it.

As an introduction, Dr.Cutler guide you thorough the maze of the internal politics of modern medicine in finding the physician willing to help you. Then he presents compelling scientific evidence that a large number of people may have a mercury poisoning and describes the current bureaucratic catch-22 preventing the proper requlation of mercury in health care products.

Chronic mercury poisoning is described and a rigorous diagnostic procedure is presented so you can determine whether you DO have a problem with mercury, and if not what might be affecting your health.

Straightforward practical advice is given on how to get rid of the mercury with a minimum of side effect. Working through the details of the treatment section allows you to identify the nutritional supplements and medications you will need to start feeling better soon.

This book is a roadmap for your return to health if you are among the millions of people unknowingly exposed to more mercury than your body can handle.

A Jewel of a Book!!!
This book is really a Hidden Jewel, because it was truly hidden behind the other weak Landry books (Ruby, Pearl in the Mist, & All that Glitters). Tarnished Gold, the last book in the Landry series, was a great book, too, but Hidden Jewel is the best in the Landry series. Pearl is such a strong character that I was shocked. I'm so used to reading such weak female characters such as the women in the Cutler series and Annie in the Casteel series. No incest theme ran amok throughout this book and the parents didn't get killed in this book. Finally!!! Now this is a must read book. If you read the other Landry books, don't stop because of those books' weak storylines please read Hidden Jewel and Tarnished Gold. Hidden Jewel is TRULY the best book in the series. I'm so glad I found this Hidden Jewel.

great! such a strong character!!!!!!!
I read this in 3 days. I just loved Pearl, she is such a strong, brave and smart character, so much not like the weak and dumb daughters, Christie and Annie of the cutler and casteel series. and Jack clovis was so right for her and such a sweetie!! I only wish there was another book about them!! it is one of my faves!!!

i hope I have a duaghter like pearl!
Ruby drove to the brink of instanity pearl goes to find her back in her roots the Buyou while shes their she meets a Loveing man I feel in love with Jack colvis! Hes what a man should be and remenber you can fall in love in an instant and thats what happened between them! Beutiful I was really happy at the end! Read this BOOK!

An interesting contribution to the sci-fi genre. . .
For some, the name of Fr. Andrew Greeley instantly suggests a "liberal" Catholic priest seeking to be a gadfly in the Church. For some, the name conjures up some fairly steamy sex scenes in some of his novels. For some, a competent, if media-hungry sociologist. Readers of "God Game" will add "imaginative Science Fiction writer" to this eclectic mix.

In "God Game" Fr. Greeley presents us with the unusual scenario of a priest (not unlike the author) spending an evening playing a compter adventure game. His home is struck by lightening, something is scrambled, and suddenly the images on his screen are real -- and the real characters think that he is God.

Yes, this might seem a little philosophical for many sci-fi fans -- but for those readers who expect depth in their books (regardless of genre) will want to read and re-read this one.

I still find myself in sharp philosophical and theological disagreement with Fr. Greeley -- and probably always will. But in this book, the Irish storyteller comes to the fore in a wonderful way.

A Wonderful Book
I'm so incredibly glad this novel has been reprinted. I admit I'm not one to particular care for computer games or religion, but this novel, written with such deft skill, won me over whole-heartedly. Perhaps the best of all the "computer-game comes to life" novels, Greeley gives all the reader characters that can actually be cared about; further more all the characters have quirks and weakness which one can easily see in the "real-life" people around oneself. This book is definately a must read.

Enchanting novel with compeling characters
This is such a wonderful book. Once you adjust yourself to the eighties computer technology that the narrator has to put up with, you will be as captivated with the book as the narrator was with his characters. And indeed, who wouldn't be captivated with this particular group. First there are the duke and duchess of neighboring kingdoms who have been feuding for generations but who are compelled by the narrator (who everyone thinks is God)to make peace. The duchess is a passionate, quick tempered, but vulnerable warrior with a talent for painting thunderstorms, and the duke is a gentle dreamer who doesn't enjoy war but has become so used to it that on rare occasions his warriors instincts become out of control. Then there is the bitter matron who is tired of being a minor character in a minor subplot and metamorphoses into a graceful, passionate woman, loved by all, including the author. And then there is a perky little ilel . . .but you'll have to find out about her yourself. If you are longing for a book with characters you can care about, even love, then I strongly urge you to read this delightful book.

Fourth Book in the Cutler Family Series
"Midnight Whispers" begins with Christie Longchamp's (the protagonist) Sweet Sixteen birthday party. Shortly after it, her parents (Dawn and Jimmy) tragically die in a house fire that destroys part of Cutler's Cove Hotel. Christie and her 12-year-old brother (Jefferson) are then "adopted" by Uncle Philip and his family; but after Uncle Philip rapes her, Christie runs away with Jefferson to New York City, in the hopes her real father (Michael Sutton) will be a better-suited guardian--which he's not.

Gavin Longchamp (Christie's forbidden love and "stepuncle") then enters the picture, joining Christie and Jefferson in a trip to The Meadows that's similar to the one Dawn made in "Secrets of the Morning," except Christie isn't pregnant--well, not yet anyway, but after what happens between her and Gavin at the old Virginia plantation, it shouldn't take too long before she is.

I rarely, if ever, like the third generation of heroines in V. C. Andrews books (like Annie Stonewall in "Gates of Paradise"), and Christie Longchamp is no exception. She's spoiled, immature, and weak. Giving this book a "4" rating is rather generous on my part, but since it's been eons since I've read this book--and I don't remember my initial reaction to it--I decided to give "Midnight Whispers" a "4." Thankfully, this is the only book told from Christie's p.o.v.; "Darkest Hour," the next and last book in this series, follows the life of Grandmother Cutler.

Midnight Whispers
This book, like all the other books in Cutler series are extraordinary! I've read many of V.C. Andrews books and the Cutler series is by far the best. I started with the first book in the series "Dawn" and was hooked from there on out. After the first few chapters you really begin to feel as though you know Dawn. When good things happen for her it makes me happy, and sad when she is sad. It is almost impossible to put these books down once you've began reading them. I would recommend this series to anyone, it's very easy to follow and will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire series.

My favorite of the series so far!
Midnight Whispers was an awesome book! Unlike some of the other Cutler series books Midnight Whispers always kept my attention. I was really sad when Dawn and Jimmy died! It really surprised me. Thoughout the book I began to really hate Aunt Bet and the twins. I think this was a great book and everyone should read it.

Suprised by the Reaction
I'm very suprised by the reaction to the books in this series. So many people liked them, while I was sorely dissapointed by all of them execpt for Raven. They were hardly horror stories at all. Sure, being an orphan must be not be the greatest situation to be in, but all of the first three of these girls got a chance to be in a real family (even if it didn't work out well for them).

Also, the half of the plots were all taken from other full length V. C. Andrews series. Remember ballet from the Dollanganger series? And remember Heaven having to be absolutely perfect in every way? They're in this series too.

These books all seem to be like the young adult books I read when I was in junior high school. I may have found these books good back then, but now they're boring. I only hope that Runaways will be take V. C. Andrews back to the original style of writing in her earlier series.

what a surprise!!!
I thought Raven was the best book out of the whole series. It brought back the horror and suspense that you read in the Heaven stories and My sweet Audrina. I thought the others didn't have any real story depth until I read Raven and couldn't put it down. I hope Runaways will be this way, back to the old style because the last couple of books were slow and had no depth. Looking forward to Runaways.

You have to be a TRUE VC ANDREWS fan!!!
You have to be a TRUE VC Andrews fan to understand the series:

Tom Nordlam says it best....

(quote) "Raven is a horror story, to put it simply, the other's were now, it goes back into the old way v. c. novels used to be before these silly fear street impression books, I'm glad this is the last of these dumb mininovels, but there was a lot this book had to offer, Raven's mother was such a whore, then there was her uncle that abused her, and her cousin that taunted her, her fragile aunt, and her other mousy cousin. the only thing I didn't like is that I wanted Raven to have more fire, like Cathy, Heaven or Audrina, I wanted her to stand up for her self when Ruben was whipping her and call him every name there is, run at him and threaten him, get a stick and give him a taste of his own medicine, something that would have made Raven stronger. All in all, this was the best in this orphans series, and I was hoping that Raven would be the one to narrate the runaways, because I like her the best, but when I read the prelude at the end of Raven, it was brooke narrating, but maybe they switch between chapters?" (unquote) ~Tom Nordlum

I commend Andrew Neiderman, for his work...carry on!!!!!!

a brief summary of the book that doesn't give it away.
this book was hard to put down. i had started by reading Music In The Night which probably wasn't a good thing but it kinda tore away the confusion. V.C. Andrews is one of my favorite authors. but about the book.... It's about a girl, Melody Logan, who's father died. her mother, obviously over his death decides to go on a quest to find a job and a better place to live. She decides to drop her of at her rich relatives from the "cod" to live. there she meets Aunt Sara who has taken her as a replacement for her dead daughter. Uncle Jacb, Carey, May, grandma Olivia, Grandfather Samuel, Judge Childes, And Kenneth Childes. While she is there the lies she has known all her life will haunt her 'til she finds the truth that frightens her even more.

GREAT NOVEL!!!
Can you imagine growing up with only your father and mother as the only realives you have ever known? Well, in V.C. Andrews novel Melody, that is what happens to the main character. Melody, the main character, looses her father in a mining accident. Right after the funeral Melody's mother decided to pack up and move. What Melody doesn't know is that her mother wants to leave Melody with her aunt and uncle whom she has never met. Melody is not happy about leaving her friends behind, but she goes on and moves with her mother. While Melody is living with her aunt and uncle, she begins to wonder why they have not kept in contact with her father and mother. Melody also begins to question why they don't want her to ever mention her father's name. When Melody finds out the answer, she is not happy with it. But can she live with responsibility?

This novel is a pleasure to read. It makes one wonder how much they really know about their families. It also teaches you to never judge anyone because sometimes you don't always know the whole story. I think that anyone who enjoys Andrews' books should read this one. It would help if the reader is a little mature about some aspects of life.

Melody is whisked away into a world of secrets and lies.
Melody is really just your normal teenage girl growing up in a mining town in West Virgina. Her whole world comes crashing down with the death of her father. Melody's mother s not one to whallow in grief and quickly hooks up with another man. Her mom sends Melody to her Uncle Jacob and Aunt Sara's house to live until her mom can get "back on her feet". Melody has soon found herself in the middel of (this is my opion) a really really screwed up family. Aunt Sara is still deeling with the death of her daughter. Uncle Jacob is obsessed with following God's plan of doing everything perfect. Grandmother is a horrid women who is more conserned with how the family looks then love. All the while Melody has to put up with her cousin Cary who thinks Melody is there to replace his dead twin sister. All the while I am reading this book I literaly feel like I want to slug some of the characters. Despite everything, somehow Melody manages to swallow all this crap she's taking. The book is powerful and striking, proving there is no such thing as a perfect family.

Music in the Night
I thought this was one of the best V.C. Andrews written. A must read for any V.C. Andrews fan. I couldn't put it down. I'm happy to see the cycle is being broken and I'm looking forward to the final book in the series Muted Voices. I think Laura was a much more interesting character in just this one book than Melody was in the first three books. I just have one complaint and this goes for all the books in all the series. I'm tired of all the main characters running around calling thier parents mommy and daddy when they are teenagers and even older. Teenagers and adults just don't do that, it's a habit children usually grow out of in the later years of elementary school.

I always read V.C.Andrews books to the very end

I have read almost, if not all of the V.C. Andrews books. I love this author. This book Music in the Night is another great book. When I read V.C.Andrews books I can't put them down and read them in about 3 days.

As for this book, I loved it but would have liked for it to have been the first book in the series. I don't like reading a series of books where the 4th book goes back in time in relation to the first 3 books I have already read.

This book has enough substance to stand on it's own as the lead book. Melody, Robert, Cary and the Logan family are interesting enough to make you want to read on about what happens in the future with Cary and his family.

Like I said before, I love all of the V.C.Andrews books, I just wish the authors would stop producing 3 books with one lead character and then jump back into the past to tell about another very important character in the storyline. I hope that the next book will tell more about what eventually happens between Cary and Melody.

Who says the pattern was broken?
Do you remember Web of Dreams? Main character finds diary and reads about her grandmother's life before and after running away to live in the Willie's. In UNFINISHED Symphony, what was Melody doing the last 2 pages of the book? She was reading Laura's Diary. "I couldn't just ignore them (Laura's Possessions) anymore, however....I began to read. A long time ago, I lived a fairy tale life." What does the first line in this book say? "A long time ago, I lived a fairy tale life". Who's to say that the pattern won't really be broken and 6 books be published for this series, instead of 5: Melody's daughter and the prequel to it all--Haille's story. Melody's story is finished. She chose not to go to school, but to marry Cary and stay with him in Cape Cod. I thought this was a refreshing change from the normal series pattern. This series hasn't had that freak you out element that the other's have had. This one is more about people with real life problems. For those of us who have been reading these books since they were children, it's kind of nice that these books are starting to "grow up" too.

Crystal has a new chance for a better life
Intelligent Crystal has spent most of her life living in a not so nice orphanage. She watched others get adopted before her and tried to sever all ties off from people her age. But one day everything changes when she's adopted by two very nice people Thelma and Kurt. Kurt lives his life by a constant schedual and is very organized. Thelma lives her life through the soap operas she watches on TV and the Romance novels she reads. Crystal feels slighlty out of place in this world but finds a friend in the smart boy down the street, Bernie. But when one single act shatters all that she has. She finds herself back where she started.

Like Raven and Butterfly, Crystal is a good read though a bit unrealistic. I'm looking foreward to read Brooke (the 3rd short book in the series) and Runaways (the full length novel staring all four girls.)

Crystal
Crystl is the second book of 5 in the miniseries called THE ORPHANS.It is about a 15 year old girl who get adopted by a nice couple named Carl and Thelma.Carl is wprapped up in saving money and Thelma is wrapped up in soap operas. She is having a great life she has friends and a nice home. Her grandparents are wonderful. But soon her only grandmam would die and she would be left with two grandfathers. But that would all end very soon.About a month later Carl and Thelma had to go and sign some papers to put one of her grandfathers in a retiring home.Crystal was at her friends house. Her friends mother got a call and asked Crystal to go get her uncles number.Crystal had a bad feeling and her feelings were right Crystals parents had both died in a car accident.Crystal could not stay because her uncles didn't have enough money and her grandfather's were to disabled and soon Crystal would be back in the system and she would soon meet one of her three best friends named Janet(butterfly).

Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover
This book has a very pretty cover but very little substance. The characters are all stereotypes, or perhaps the nicest way to describe them is as vehicles for the plot. Only the plot is no better, so what are we left with. I'm sick of characters named Sanford. There was a Sanford in Twilight's Child, Christie's adoptive father, and the fact that Sanford Delores has no more personality than such an insignificant character as Sanford Compton says a lot. Celine is your typical shallow mother, in a wheelchair (in every series there seems to be a character in a wheelchair). Dmitri is simply a rip off of Julian from the Dollanganger series, without the psychological trauma to explain his perversion. Madame whats-her-name is a rip off of Madame Zolta and Madame Marisha (Dollanganger series as well). There is really no need to read this. I haven't read Runaways yet, but I can't imagine you would understand it any less if you didn't read this little snippet on Janet's life first.

Great read!
The book read very quickly, and was enjoyable reading. I found it less intense than her other books, but I still found myself wanting to throw the book a few times, in frustration when the main character was mistreated! I found a lot of similarities with her other books...has a mean grandmother, and the heroine is treated unfairly...nothing to disapoint fans of VC Andrews! I enjoyed the fact that it is a short book and easy reading but I now await the next with anticipation! So frustrating!

Great quick read
God I am so sick of people complaining about how Janet should've tried to stand up to her parents. First of all, she's an orphan, and she was grateful that the couple adopted her. She wanted to stand up for herself, but was afraid that if she did, they would send her back to the orphanage. All she wanted was to care for someone, and have someone to take care of her. Overall, this is a very good book. For some reason, I felt very connected to Butterfly/Janet. I think that out of all the V.C. Andrews books, Janet is my favorite character.

This story is about an orphan named Janet. She is a little small for her age, and is very graceful and dainty. She was adopted by this rich couple. Everything was very nice at first, but it turned out that her new mother was actually a ballerina before she became paralyzed. Janet's new mother wanted her to be a ballerina, so she hired the best dance instructor for her. But no matter how hard Janet tries to please her mother, she would demand more and more from her. This is a very good book. Great story.

its an ending
This book was similar to the true vc andrews style but still not as good. The orphans and wildflowers are not as page turning and intriguing as past series have been. I was very disappointed in the ending of this book. There was no real closure to the story as if it was being left open to possibly continue. If you have already started the series it has to be read though because it answers alot of questions about Cat, and very few about any of the other girls.

Into the Garden
I recently read the book, "Into the Garden" (pub. 1999) by V.C. Andrews. The book was about a group of four friends who call themselves "the orphans with parents" or OWP's for short. In the beginning, the main character's (Cat) mother dies. After she dies, the four girls take over her house and turn it into their headquarters. This book reminds me a lot of another book by V.C. Andrews called "Runaways" (pub. 1997) which was also about four friends. One difference is that in "Runaways" the girls were really orphans, and in "Into the Garden" the girls had parents, and called themselves orphans. The main character, Cat, is very interesting. She is kind of paranoid about everything the girls do. The rest of the girls try to get her to loosen up. They pretty much redo the whole house that they have taken over for their "headquarters". Then they all take turns staying the night there with Cat, where they plot some pretty decitful things. This story was a very good story about some mischevious young girls, and it was very interesting and held my attention all the way through. The only thing I didn't like about it, was that it was so similar to Runaways.

Everybody should read V.C. Andrews!!
I think this book is so great! V.C. Andrews is very talented and i believe she knows the style what kinda books people like. especially girls. Cat, Misty, Star, and Jade spend another year with each other and explain all of their secrets that they didnt tell Dr. Marlowe! I always want to pick up my book and find out what happens! That is how good this book is! I also HIGHLY recommend you read Web Of Dreams. But do not read the rest of the series because it is confusing and there are way too many characters and you get VERY lost. So many people find out they are related and everything and it is just plain confusing as hell. I LOVED INTO THE GARDEN AND I SUGGEST IT TO EVERYONE!! you will share laughter, drama, tears, smiles, horror with all the characters of the wildflowers girls!
