Often controversial, she is still the most popular writer on Santeria and her books are excellent sources of information on the subject. Most of the criticism aimed at her books stem from the fact that when she began to write there was little info on Santeria and the priests of the religion misled her and other researchers on the subject. Now it is easy to write about it, but she was the first and that is something we should be thnakful for.
