The Book of Shadows en Espaniol.
Este es unos de los primeros libros de la religion de los Brujos llamado Wicca en espaniol. The book of Shadows en Espaniol o El Libro De Sombras. Y anque yo no soy Wicca, quisas brujo o hechisero, perro Wiccan no. Pero como quiera este libro es interesante. Y se lo recomiendo a el que tenga curiosidad.

This is one of the first complete Spanish books on the Witches religion known as Wicca. El Libro De Sombras, or The Book of Shadows, is an excellent guide for the practicing Brujo, who has an intrest in learning a thing or two on Wicca. Although I am not Wiccan, I find "some" concepts interesting.

INCREIBLEMENTE EDUCATIVO

A GREAT Book
I read this book and I thought it was great. I would recomend this book to anyone.

IT DOES WORK!!!!!!!
At first I was a little skeptical because of the cover but once I got to reading it I really became interested and tried one of the spells, and it worked! REALLY WELL! I am planning to try all of the spells I can, but I am so happy I have finally found a book that acctually works! This is a must have book for anyone.

This book is what it says, but not what it seems.
Be aware that this is not a grimoire! This is an excellent book for someone who is exploring the world of magick, but is not Wiccan. Even if you are unsure, this book is great, as it places no real leanings towards any one religion (Well, maybe there is a little emphasis on the Kabbalistic system). All to often, I find that most books on magick are strongly intertwined with Wicca, and it is hard to get a good broad view of magick without the religious touting. This book provides a comprehensive study of magick through history, the parts it played in different cultures, and it outlines many different practices. A great starting text!

Great book for scaring you out of doing magic
I'm not Jewish. I am, if I have to label myself, an eclectic Wiccan. I am new to the whole concept of magic, but understanding that much of the magic practiced by witches is heavily influenced by the Kabbalah (Where do you think the pentagram came from? I'll give you a hint...its not Celtic), I decided that studying kabbalah would be useful, and maybe spiritually enriching. This book gets three stars because it has a good list of correspondences, which I will probably refer to a lot. However, I found it discouraging, rather than spiritually enriching. It says that in order to be a "real" kabbalist, one must "embrace the torah with one's whole being", but it also says that you don't have to be jewish. I think if I were willing to embrace the torah with my whole being, that would make me pretty darned jewish. I think that's what it means to be jewish...unfortunately, I am too cynical to embrace anything with my whole being right now. Does that mean I can't draw an invoking penagram? The book also said that if one is not sexually active, the Shekinah (or, as I would say, the Goddess) abandons them. that's nice. I don't feel like having sex with anyone right now, so does that mean that the goddess has abandoned me? I don't think so. Another gripe: the book says that if you don't pay attention to every single detail of the planetary correspondences...every singly anal-retentive golden dawny detail, you will end up raising negative energy and harming yourself. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Most witches I know aren't nearly that anal retentive, and that's never happened to them. Its never happed to ME, and I am, as I said, very new at this, and I have no idea what planets should be alligned or any of that stuff. anyway, how can one even be sure of all these correspondences, when so many books contradict each other?
Magic is in you. It comes from your own life force. correspondences are tools, which can help focus the energy in the right direction, but sometimes the appropriate tools differ, depending on the magician. I found this book discouraging, because it takes a lot of the spirituality out of the Kabbalah.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
DON'T HAVE THE WORDS TO DESCRIBE IT. JUST WONDERFUL. INSIGHTFUL. PRECIOUS. MAGNIFICENT. A MUST HAVE.

Honest and Informative
With all the books out there on The Kabbalah, it makes the subject seem more confusing than it really is. This book clarifies everything regarding The Kabbalah and backs it up with actual scientific findings. The author truely speaks directly to you as she unfolds the information, and never insults your intelligence. I highly reccomend this book to anyone interested in learning about The Kabbalah and it's place in modern life.

Required for your reference shelf
Once in a while during self-imposed studies, it is nice to reward yourself with a book to just browse through. I got this Book of Amulets with that in mind, and it has since become one of the favorites on my reference shelf. Not just a book of symbols, this book also describes history and origin of things like rabbit's feet, Marzipan skulls from Mexico, tarot cards, and crosses. Learn how the swastika used to be a beautiful and powerful symbol, long before Hitler used it as his own. You will often refer to this book to look up the meanings of symbols you run across in your studies, and you'll surely find ideas on how to make an amulet with your own personal meaning.

If only one book on Talisomans, this is the one!
I am currently working on my doctorate in cultural anthropology with my dissertation concerning the cross cultural use of talismans. This book is without equal and most certainly the most useful book in this field. I can not not begin to say enough so I will leave it at that.

I loved this book.
This is without doubt the most comprehensive book on the subject that I have ever read. I was astonished at the wealth of deatil that is found in the text and the great illustrations that are scattered in every page. I had no idea there was such a voluminous amount of information available on amuelts and talismans. Gonzalez-Wippler'reputation as a meticulous researcher is strongly validated in this book. What a tremendous amount of research it must have taken to compile all this fascinating information. Congratulations are in order and I thank her for her brilliant work.

Return of the Angels
Migene Gonzalez-Wippler is a psychologist and anthropologist with an impressive list of credentials, including fifteen books. Her latest endeavor, Return of the Angels, is a complete reference on celestial beings.

A Christian kabbalist and noted religious researcher, Gonzalez-Wippler says that 'there is an angel behind every idea, every intention, and every action, be they positive or negative.' Everything, even things we normally think of inanimate, has an angel.

Humans have individual guardian angels, and Gonzalez-Wippler explains how people can contact their angel, learn its name, and seek its guidance. Angels have their own language, and she describes how to write a letter to an angel using their language. She also provides the unique signature of major angels, along with their color, flower, and crystal. Rituals for invoking angels are also included.

Gonzalez-Wippler describes angels as being mighty warriors battling the forces of evil, a battle they don't always win. She details the hierarchy of angels, and the duties of each. She describes the 'seven heavens' and how the angels protect them. She also discusses Paradise, the Garden of Eden, and the role of Adam and Eve.

More than fifty lush illustrations enhance the written information.

One long section is devoted to the 'Book of Megadriel,' a retelling by Gonzalez-Wippler of the Creation and the War in Heaven, in the voice of 'Megadriel.' Megadriel finishes his stories with prophesies and 'steps we can take to protect our planet from cataclysmic disasters.'

The last section of the book is a listing of more than 900 angel biographies and heavenly places.

'Return of the Angels guides you through the wealth of information contained in classic texts such as the Bible, the Apocrypha, and the Kabbalah. It illuminates the wonderful history of these inhabitants of Heaven who choose to play a role in mortals' lives.' It's an essential reference for anyone curious about the role of angels in their life.

loved this book
I loved this book. It is one of the most thorough books on angels I have read, and I have read a few. It gives a wealth of details on the angelic hierarchies. I particularly enjoyed reading about the way the angels interact with each other. The Book of Megadriel (second and third parts) are icing on the cake, and the angel dictionary is a blessing.

magical and inspiring
Several friends had recommended this book to me and told me it had changed their lives. I have always believed there was some truth about the many stories one hears and reads constantly about angels, but I was unprepared for the literary feast on these celestial beings this book provided. I agree wholeheartedly with Amazon's review that this is indeed a most magical and inspiring volume. I particularly enjoyed the author's stories about angel encounters, the magic rituals, but my favorite is War in Heaven by the Archangel Megadriel. This is a tour de force of the angelic battles and shows the depth of the author's biblical scholarship and her "literary acumen" to transform her writing style and adapt it to the way an angel would probably speak.Megadriel's predictions are equally stunning. I, for one, would love to read more about Megadriel and I hope to see the Book of Megadriel soon in print.

good intro for the curious
The Works of Migene Gonzalez Wippler are the most widely distributed and best selling books on the Subject of Santeria, and Cuban Lucumi. Her works are both liked and disliked, liked buy the community who are new to Santeria, and very much disliked buy Elders and initiates in the religion.

It is not that Wippler's books are not accurate, they are. It is just that they seam to closely resemble other published books on Lucumi and Santeria that have been written in Spanish and have no copyrights. But aside from this, "if you can put this aside, many of the Elders in the religion, will not." (That is steeling) Then you have a pretty interesting book, full of basic wisdom and knowledge that really opens the doors for new comers into the religion, or for those who have a basic curiosity. "I guess those who do not know gotta start somewhere." I recommend it to those who have no knowledge of the religion, it breaks that Voodoo stereo type, but this book is pretty much a stepping stone for other bigger and greater things. But I do not completely dislike her books, in fact I recommend this book, and Powers of the Orishas, to all Aleyos out there.

Everything you want to know about Santeria
This book is very hard to put down, once you start to read it your hooked. It is very informative about the origin of the religion and what it consists of. Even if you don't practice Santeria it is a very interesting book. One book you must add to your collection.

Santeria : African Magic in Latin America
I do not recommend this book at all, it give the author false impression on the religion. From what I know from well known elders she is not even and initiate. Santeria is a beautifull religion, but authors like this one who give a false account..On having a deep rich experience on the religion are full of it. The elder's that I have spoken to do not even respect what she had written. Save your money for a book that speak the truth and not this one......Child of Oshun

An excellent introduction to Santería
If you want to learn about the religion called Santería that is practiced and followed in various forms by 100 million people in the Americas, González-Wippler's book is a good place to start. In plain language easy for the layman to comprehend, González writes about the history of Santería, its roots in both African religion and Roman Catholicism (Santería is a syncretism of both), the Santería pantheon, magical practices and magical spells. She also writes a separate chapter on brujería, or witchcraft, a malignant offshoot of Santería but distinctly separate from it. González relates how many herbal spells used in Santería have beneficial medicinal properties, such as the herb higuereta which has been found to shrink malignant tumors, and she also discusses the mindset of those who follow both Santería and Catholicsm and have no problem integrating both into their lives, since each serves its own purpose. The book doesn't go into great depths, but it's an excellent overview for those who want to explore more deeply into the religion and its beliefs and practices. It also has the advantage of being written in English originally, so that it doesn't risk losing anything in translation. I'd recommend it to anyone who is interested in comparative religions and/or the history and culture of Latin America.

Very good Santeria book.
I read this book before my initiation into Santeria over five years ago. I've been actively practicing the religion ever since and have undergone may initiation thereafter. I have to say when I first read this book that I did not know much about Santeria. I am very glad to have read the book as I was able to relate its contents with my own experiences as I got exposed to this beautiful and profound religion. Mrs Wippler's "Santeria: The Religion" is quite consistent with my own experience and practice in Santeria. It is an excellent and comprehensive premier book, and it certainly does not deserve the negative criticism that it has received from certain individuals--who, in my opinion, are over-protective of the religion and supporters of the notion that the religion must be kept secret. About reading any Santeria book, one has to realize that each "Ile Ocha" has its own practices and customs, so there are even disgreement among very experienced Santeros on certain principles and practices within the religion. In general, this is a great book and it gives fair information about Santeria. I highly recommended it.

Too bad she revealed it!
Im glad she reveals a lot of the stuff that is written in spanish. Though I also realize that eighter she made a few mistakes in her book orshe was deliberatly mislead with some of the information. She does give a crate load of information on the religion and beliefs of Santaria. If you are interested in Santaria or you are just curious about it than this should be your first book on the subject. Also her other book The Power Of The Orishas is pretty good as well. In her book Santaria she gives you information about some of the major orishas like Oshun, Chango, Yemaya, Elegua and more. She discusses the taboos and unfortunatly the macho part of it. Unfortunatly it is true a woman can not achieve the same high ranks a man can even though she can reach a centain rank on a Santera (priestess) a man can rise above her to higher ranks. If you are a gay man you can only reach the same rank a woman can. There are some things she did not mention like a woman can not sacrifice animals even as a Santera unless A) she has a warrior Orisha that rules her head or B) she is past menapause. To me thats a load of BS made up by men but thats the religion. Maybe one day it will change. But back to the book she is the only auther that i know of that revealed a lot years ago with her writtings. I brought this book years back and I will never give it away.

Informative and Realistic !
This is not a book that was written for those expecting spooky pulp horror stories. This is not a book about Voodoo. This intelligently written non-fiction describes a fascinating religion and the people that practice it. The insight into the daily life of an initiate is impressive. The descriptions of the Gods and Goddess, Their offerings and worship is clearly and beautifully written. The book is very informative and I would recommend it highly to anyone interested in Santeria.
