Best book on teenage pregnancy
What a subtle, beautiful, thought-provoking book. Indispensible for understanding how teenage pregnancy shapes the lives of young people. Offers a poignant view of a variety of American teens facing parenthood, of different classes, different races, different religions and regions. Would be particularly valuable for high-school researchers, or as a complement to drier, more statistical or policy-oriented analyses.
Fantastic photographs which capture your heart and mind
The photographs are fantastic and will capture your heart and mind. The pictures communicate in a way words never could. You will feel like you know and understand these young mothers.
Youth on Trial: A Developmental Perspective on Juvenile Justice (The John D. and Catherine T. Macarthur Foundation Series on Mental Health aNd Development)

Once Again, the Grisso Approach is Most Thoughtful
Read this book. Change the system.
A Valuable Collection
For anyone interested in how courts deal with juvenile crime, and for anyone who thinks there must be a better way, read this book. Drawing upon the simple, yet profound idea that children do not turn into adults on a single day, the authors elaborate on the deficiencies of a legal system that is, in fact, largely based upon just that notion. The chapters help us to envision a legal system that would see adolescent development as a gradual and continuous process, and that would not allow prosecutorial ambition alone to determine which young offenders should be held criminally responsible for their actions.
1999 The Canadian Global Almanac (Serial)

Informative and interesting almanac.
I work in a public library and I've found this to be a very useful reference source. A fountain of information on numerous Canadian topics, including the government, the economy, climate, vital statistics and Canadian history. This reference manual also includes concise write-ups on the nations of the world, mini-biographies and information on science, sports and entertainment. It includes black and white illustrations and 16 pages of coloured maps of the world. This book is a great reference tool for any student, but also so full of interesting tidbits that anyone would enjoy having a copy. Very heartily recommended.
Access 97 Essentials Level I

All three books in this series are great!
I had to learn Access for my job, and found this three-volume series. The books were designed for classes, but worked very well on their own. In this first book, all of the basic topics (creating tables, forms, queries, reports, etc.) were introduced using a step-by-step method. The examples were real-life, not some widget company, which really helped. I am not a computer whiz, but I picked up this difficult subject without too much trouble!

All three books in this series are great!
I had to learn Access for my job, and found this three-volume series. The books were designed for classes, but worked very well on their own. This book built on the topics (creating tables, forms, queries, reports, etc.) that were introduced in the first two books, and added some more complex topics. It used a step-by-step method, and the examples were real-life, not some widget company, which really helped. I am not a computer whiz, but I picked up this difficult subject without too much trouble, although some of the topics in this third book took more time to digest than the others!

Alcatraz Screw
This is a great book for anyone interested in what life was like on Alcatraz from an insider's perspective. Mr. Gregory served as a prison guard on Alcatraz and explains in detail the daily routines of the prisoners and guards. He writes very directly about the various jobs he had while there and what life was like. He adds a very human aspect to the people in his book while writing very "matter of factly." I was engaged by the book and did not want to put it down at times. Having read other books on Alcatraz and having been there, this book told me an insider's perspective that I had never felt I'd had before. I recommend it highly to anyone who has even the slightest interest in what Alcatraz was really like.

a beautiful volume on one of this country's finest painters
John Biggers came to artistic maturity in an academic setting far from the art centers of New York. He was repulsed by the New York art scene that had so summarily dismissed black art when he had participated in a MOMA black student art exhibit. Perhaps his avoidance of the centers of art commerce were as responsible for the late acceptance of his genius as was the segregationist mindset in the United States during Biggers's early career. As well as producing important paintings, drawings, and sculpture, Biggers is one of this country's most important muralists, creating more than twenty major murals in fifty years. His life has been dramatic in both content and context. Wardlaw draws a clear portrait of African-American life in the black section of a sharply segregated Gastonia, North Carolina, where Biggers grew up in the 1930s, and the rich family and community life of rural black America of the time. The other essays, written by noted scholars, trace the history of Biggers's artistic career through a careful study and analysis of his body of work.

Everything You Need to Know About Arthritis
The title says it all. Dr. Thompson outlines the test used to DX the inflamatory and non-inflamatory forms of arthritis, signs and symptoms as well as drug therapies, PT and possible surgical procedures that can help patients be as informed as possible. The book is very readable with great laymen explanations and case studies that a patient can identify with.
