One of the funniest outdoor books I've read
For decades, Ed Zern wrote the "Exit Laughing" column on the final page of each issue of Field & Stream. This is a compilation of those essays, and it's hilarious. Included are some of the meeting minutes of the MARGBMALRBA (Madison Avenue Rod, Gun, Bloody Mary and Labrador Retriever Benevolent Association) and Ed's famous book review of "Lady Chatterly's Lover." Buy it.
Island in the Plains: A Black Hills Natural History

Easy to read; very informative!
What a job this guy has! He gets to ride around in the Black Hills with a bunch of college professors (I had to pay tuition to hang out with them) and then write what happened. I found the search for the last fossil cycad with Mark Gable particularly fascinating, as well as the study of plants with Audrey Gable (I think she gets off on microspores). The best thing about this book is that Ed has the ability to translate the near-latin-speak of the scientist to plain Kings' English so it actually makes sense. Great Book!!!

maternal depression and infant disturbance
This book was excellant for helping to identify wrong cognitive perceptions developed in childhood. It truly is an exceptional and enlightening view on the ravaging effects of depression on infants that lasts a life time.

You should read this book!
Archie Carr was a renowned naturalist and perhaps the world's expert on marine turtles. He wrote with a lyrical simplicity that reflects the south of the early- and mid-20th century. His elegant descriptions of animals and his understated wit reveal his deep involvement with the natural world and the human processes that are now shaping it. Archie knew Florida like a native and could describe it like no one else of his generation.

The only guide you will need when visiting the NY area
This is a superb pocketable book that gives the full lowdown of trees in the metro area. Full color throughout - lovely photos and enough trees included to be pretty well all you need for much of the Northeast. If you believe that trees are also about the most important contributor to a beautiful environment, then this book also serves as a good guide to the most beautiful places to visit in the NY area (including NJ, Long Island and Westchester county).

A Piece of Pardise : A Story of Custer State Park
I truly enjoyed the pristine and perceptive photography combined with the accompanying narrative. This is a work of substance and a good companion for one planning a visit to this location. If one cannot visit in person, I highly recommend visiting via this outstanding publication. Mr. Raventon and Mr. Horsted are to be commended for their contribution to capturing this piece of the natural history of this fascinating area.

I read the book and found it very interesting
I am very allergic to poison ivy and this book made it possible for me to understand every phase of this plant. I also found the writing very enlightening and easy to understand. I highly recommend this book.
