CLEAR AND INSPIRING EXPLANATION OF SPIRITUAL TREATMENT
Dr Baker explains clearly and engagingly how one can improve one's life by changing your subconscious pattern through the spiritual technique called treatment. The essence of treatment is this: When the conscious mind of the individual deliberately selects a creative idea and delivers that idea to the subconscious, the subconscious mind acts as a law and proceeds to produce the equivalent of that idea in the individual's experience. The subconscious mind is the producer of one's experience, while the conscious mind is the decider of experience. Both phases of mind are spiritual processes working together - they are the God process in the individual. This wonderful work provides a spiritual technique for richer living. Chapters deal with, inter alia, Happiness, Wealth, Love, Success and Freedom, and includes helpful affirmations and prayers. On a par with the work of Joseph Murphy, Catherine ponder and Florence Scovel-Shinn, this book should be read repeatedly to provide the maximum benefit.

Change the subconscious pattern through ...
Dr. Barker opened the First Church of Religious Science in New York City in 1946, was President of the International New Thought Alliance and a well-known minister, author and teacher throughout the New Thought movement. This classic book is often used in Religious Science classes. Dr. Barker explains how to change the subconscious pattern through spiritual treatment. Some of his statements: There are unfortunately a great many people with attractive surface attitudes but with the same old rubbish underneath (9), If you fail to direct your subconscious mind, it produces under a law of averages, and you are a nice, ineffective sweet person (84), I call treatment mind surgery. It is the way in which you go into the subconscious, destroy old patterns and instill new ones (90).

Made me take a new look at my life -- and change it.
This little book is one of the most important works I have read in my 50+ years. With simple, yet incredibly powerful ideas, it challenged me to get "out of my philosophical box" and think again about life, God, and how it all works together. Recalling the simple statement Jesus made, that we "must become like little children...", I played along with the exercises outlined in the book and found an earth-shaking change taking place in my life. Read this without judgment or prejudice -- and see for yourself!

Beautiful!
The California Outdoor Writers Association awarded the title "best book of the year." It's easy to see why. Kira pays homage to Ray Cannon, who wrote the bestseller The Sea of Cortez which documented the "Golden Age" for Baja. No one could have written a better tribute than Kira, a Baja afficionado whose enthusiasm and affection for the peninsula can be detected on every page. Rare photos and drawings complement the text. This is a beautiful book!

A coffee table book about a coffee table book
This magnificent book covers the life of Ray Cannon, who wrote The Sea of Cortez. It is a facinating and well organized assemblege of the man's colorful life. It took me to a simpler time and a place on earth that was unspoiled. A wonderful book.

A look at a time past and people who lived large
Wonderful photos and you hold in your hand a book that can transport you, via his own words, into the inner circle of an astounding man, Ray Cannon, and the glamorous and mysterious friends he drew around him. He left Hollywood and the big-city life of the movies, where he had money and power, to take up the life of a country fisherman and a writer of essays. But he was never a country fisherman. He was an institution, living the romantic life in a wild, untamed place, among beautiful scenes and unforgettable people who did outrageous things. Great book. Wonderful company. A trip you can take over and over again.

Icing on the Cake
This little book is the icing on the cake for anyone doing a dollhouse or just wanting minis to display with a doll collection. So many nifty tips and tricks to create very real looking items from household junk and odds'n'ends, and do a little recycling at the same time. The crafting tips are all neatly catagorized ,so finding specific things is easy. Most of the tips are very cost effective ,and are a treasure trove for anyone with a mini mansion to furnish and a tight budget. It is worth every bit of its' cost; as someone who has been crafting with junk since childhood, I highly recommend it.

To Florida Reader
the nutshell news is now dollhouse miniatures, they have a website if you search for nutshell news or new name you can find their website and then email them thats how i get a hold of them.

I realize this is what you are looking for, but speaking of looking for; I've been trying to get Nutshell News phone number or address. I paid for my subscription in December (check has been cashed) but never received my subscription. Can you help? Please and Thank you!

The Zen Eye: A Collection of Zen Talks by Sokei-An
Published in Audio Cassette by Weatherhill (1996)
Authors: Mary Farkas and Raymond Furse
Amazon base price: $12.95

An Eye-Opening Book
This book is like a totally new perspective, like an awakening of some other but truer nature of your self. I love it, I read it (and listened to it, because I recorded highlights for use on my walkman)many, many times and each time I find it inspiring and happiness-inducing so to say.

This is the no.1 book in my library containing works of Plato, Nietzsche, a whole range of today achievement gurus like Tony Robbins, Steve Covey et consortes. I treasure it so much I bought two copies in Polish and then ordered one in English (to read the original Sokei-an words). Well, I must say the Polish translator this time made an excellent job, she transformed sometimes rough English of Sokei-an into beautifully flowing narration that proves her full understanding of Zen. Usually I get the opposite effect reading the same book in the two languages.

Sokei-an undoubtfully belongs with the greatest leaders of this century.

Wisdom in Abundance!
Each time I pick up this book and read it, Sokei-An's wisdom opens a new perspective of reality. I can feel the presence of his words, truth and clarity. These conversations bring strength and comfort to the mind, body and spirit. I now know how to empty the mind and the benifit if mindfulness.

An inspiring, poetic book about spirituality by a master.
This book is much more about wisdom than knowledge, more about spirituality in general than about Zen. For Sokei-an, Zen is merely the outward form of his inner state, just as his words are the outer form of his true meaning. I believe he had dissolved all the barriers between his mind and "that even mind, even and calm, which radiates in multifold directions at once" (and which, he says, is Buddha). I believe (to the extent that it's possible through words) Sokei-an's wisdom and clarity are transmitted in this book. He left us with a wonderful gift.

Books about Zen can be cryptic and obscure. The meanings hidden within koans are beyond our grasp. This book discusses koans, but the main thrust is on seeing that we are not our thoughts, and we can liberate ourselves from the limitations of our "mind-stuff".

I will conclude with Columbus Circle [in New York], from which eight different avenues diverge. If you do not attain this 'seed of wisdom,' you will spend your life going from branch to branch without ever finding the center of wisdom. You cannot be simple, therefore your mind cannot be plain. You think that you must be wise, that your brain must be like an encyclopedia, that your eyes must be shining, and that you must make all kinds of gestures. No, you only need to grasp the center of wisdom."

Nearly everything you need to know about pain but was ....
This is bottomline an excellent book with editors and contributors that are prominent in their fields. The subjects covered were relevant in my work and there were excellent references for further study. I have passed my examinations and impressed my senior specialist peers after reading and understanding concepts vividly elucidated in this tome.Time and again this book has been the basis for my lectures to paramedics and medical student. The text is too small though. If you want a serious and indepth reference on acute pain, this is it.

A wonderful textbok for all who love pain
Yes thats it boys, a book on pain. Come and get it. I took the course because the textbook was neat I dropped it because the idea was gross. Maybe I'll go into dentistry.....

Great gift
I was given the orginal book with cassette by my Grandmother in the early 1970's. I cherished the stories as a child and was excited when I uncovered my lost copy. For Christmas my mother gave my children ages 2 and 4 years old their very own copy and we have been enjoying it daily. We also have the stories on CD and listen to them in the car. Hearing them brings back many wonderful memories of my childhood and of my thoughtful Grandmother.

the pictures are the best!
Hi! I really loved this book because the pictures are really pretty. Mary Maass must have alot of talent! thank you very much!

Definitely a classic
This is currently my favorite book I have ever read about sailing around the world. It's entertaining, informatative, and most important, I felt like I was right there riding with him on the boat.

It struck me as a very honest account without a lot of making things sound more impressive than they actually are. He talks a bit about getting sick on board, but he accepts that as just part of the challenge. He also talks about getting a tiny bit careless after going so far around the world, and getting put ashore in what must have appeared to be a "novice" mistake. At that point, he was ANYTHING but a novice. It's just the kind of thing that might happen to any one of us, which is exactly what makes this book so appealing to me.

If you want to escape from your land-locked life for a few hours with a good book, consider this one strongly. The chapters are generally fairly short, and the pages turn quickly, because he really draws you in with his writing style. His description of his experience with the waves in the South Pacific still has me spellbound.

I will read this book again and again over the years.

Eternal Vito
An Argentine legend of the sea, deeply loved by all south american sailors. This book tells of his second voyage on board Legh II against the roaring forties alone, and all the things he had to endure. Bernard Moitissier used to keep this book under his pillow and referred to it many times. A must read for everyone, specially for overseas cruisers

Great book to understand AI
I have used this book for a course in Artificial Intelligence at the college level many times. The book was published in 1992, which is outdated in many areas. However, the historical development in AI is highly readable. Many predictions in the book turn out to be true. The new book by the same author is not good at all.

Ray has developed many applications in AI with his own company and enjoyed much success. He is a great role model for young entrepreneurs.
