This is a well written, compelling study of early attempts at police reform in the 1960s. A wonderful analysis of the failures of American liberalism and very interesting biography of a true unheralded American hero, George Edwards, Jr., who attempted to change the tragic course of Detroit history and for a short time looked might he succeed. An excellent read! Highly recommended. This reviewer is looking forward to the next book.

My kids love George Edward Stanley's Third Grade Detectives. Now, all they talk about is solving mysteries with science, just like forensic scientists do. They can't get enough of these great books.

The Codebreaker Kids is very funny. I read this because my 4thgrade teacher has a copy and she let me read it. My 4th grade teacher[...] knows George Edward Stanley. My teacher grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma, and G.E. Stanley lives there now. George Edward Stanley also wrote some of the 'M.T. Coffin' books. You can check out M.T. Coffin books right here on Amazon.com!

there are many reasons why this books is recommendably true and good to many readers. first it is descriptive so that every reader has an idea of what this corporation sole is all about. It is historical. It presents a historical feature of the corporation sole from one place to another and primarily in the Chicago diocese. It is interestingly inviting to those who have never been told to or have never been familiar regarding the church's inherent right to alienate, acquire and possess goods for the church herself. As a separate entity or a visible organization hierarchically structured with laws and norms, it is able to handle its temporal goods which is necessary in the propagation of the faith and the maintenance of the church property and mission. Nevertheless, it is significant to students of both civil law and canon law since it would allow them to take a glimpse of this particular provision - that is - corporation sole - to which the church is in a way benefitting in its relation with the state. Although there is such a principle of the separation of the Church and State, this book identifies the situations in which both can actively participate and join together in these concerns.

The generation that passed between the death of Victoria and the accession of her son, Edward VII, in 1901 and the death of Edward's son, George V, in 1936 was one of great change not only in the British monarchy but in the state of monarchy throughout Europe. Edward's personal power was subject to the close limitations of the unwritten English constitution, but his cosmopolitan personality and astute knowledge of international affairs gave him great informal authority, especially since the emperors of Germany and Russia were his close relations. George, though likeable, shared neither his father's eminence abroad nor his extroverted style, and was much more subordinate to his ministers - and during the early part of his reign, as a result of the Great War, the empires of Germany, Russia, and Austria ceased to exist. The author of this well-researched study, who has written a number of other books and articles on modern European royalty, follows the complex interconnections among the royal houses of Europe during this period, pointing out just how much diplomacy depended before the War on personal relationships between monarchs, and also just how little such things came to matter during the subsequent Age of Dictators. He includes a great many photographs and illustrations, many of which are new to me, as well as a (necessary) genealogical chart and table of accession dates.

If you thought you knew all there was to know about Charles Darwin and his evolutionary hypothesis, but you haven't read this book, then think again. Eiseley's research is impeccable, but his findings strike to the very heart of the Darwin legend, revealing a deeply flawed and basically dishonest seeker after self-aggrandisement. No wonder it's out of print! Despite his findings Eiseley remained a Darwinist and an evolutionist to his dying day. This book is no slice of creationist propoganda, it is a carefully written, highly readable review of the facts. If you have any interest in the history of evolutionism - pro or con - this book should be very near the top of your reading list.

My first grader and his friend both checked out this book and couldn't put it down. They are both good readers and loved it. It is hard to find something that boys this age find exciting, but this was it. They read the whole book in a day. I had to see what was so neat about it so I read it and also enjoyed it. A great beginning chapter book for kids. They can't wait to read the other scaredy cats books.

I first bought George Breen's book, "Do It Yourself Marketing" back in the early 80's. It's still on my shelf of reference books.
It's an interesting and helpful book that demystifies marketing research. It's filled with common-sense advice, it's well-written, and it's easy to read. A home run!
Breen's books is so good, that it's one of the few books I recommend in my own book, "The Publicity Handbook." Nice job, Mr. Breen!

Evolutionary Operation: A Statistical Method for Process Improvement
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (1969)
Amazon base price: $141.00
Average review score:

Evolutionary operation is a strategy for experimentation during production. It is a terrific method for continuous process improvement which is now popular in the new quality movement. Surprisingly, though very practical the approach never caught on when the book originally came out! Box and Draper are famous professors of statistics in the Statistics Department at the University of Wisconsin. Both are excellent writers and each has coauthored other very highly regarded texts.
These techniques are worth considering by anyone involved in producing high quality manufacturing processes. This is the only text that covers the topic.

This set is the perfect set for any first year organic student. It gives a perfect representation of interatomic distances which is not possible or accounted for with other sets. It also allows for the compostion of cyclopropane and othe larger cyclic compounds. A great compliment to organic study
