This was an interesting story, which I did not know a lot about. With more terrorism focus in the media today and the troubles in the Middle East a situation like this could come up again. I also liked the detail of this particular terrorist group, which I think is no longer active. Overall the book was solidly written but not a fast paced page-turner. If you are interested in the time frame or particular event then it is worth reading.

No wonder this is out of print!
I came across this book quite by accident when someone suggested some "coming of age" books for my teen-aged children. Not only did they find it totally plotless, but pretty pointless as well. These kids are pretty much brats, and we already have too much of that around these days! What happened to novels that have plots? This is a character study at the very best, but the problem is that these characters are not very interesting at all! This author should not write about girls growing up if he does it this badly. Coming of age? I think not!

Franny and Zooey--fooey!
What strikes you about this book the most is why was it written at all? It's not at all like Franny and Zooey. It is not even a good Thelma and Louise. Maybe the Osbourne kids taking a long endless ride. Give me a break! The sixties and seventies were definitely more interesting than this!

A wonderful book!
I once used this book for a class on the contemporary novel and the students loved it. When it was released it received terrific reviews from the critics, and rightfully so. It's a terrific coming-of-age story, written lyrically and with unforgettable characters. Cora will go down as one of the most delightful and sympathetic portraits written in contemporary fiction. An absolutely wonderful read! This novel deserves to be back in print.

Just okay
I thought this book was just OK. I thought a far better book on this subject was the Vault Reports Guide to America's Top 50 Law Firms, which has 10-pages or so on each firm and is loaded with an insider perspective on what life is like on each of these law firms.

Mildly interesting anecdotes of first-year lawyers.
This book consists of 18 short chapters by lawyers who tell of an experience they had during their first year after law school. Though all of the stories are mildly interesting, few really tell us much about either the legal profession or the lawyer as a person. One strength of the book is that the lawyers who contributed chapters come from a wide range of legal areas and employment situations, including one woman who left the law to be a journalist.

It Would Really Help Us Take Them Seriously If . . .
It would HELP everyone take this book seriously if the editors weren't self-involved on a truly scary level. Trust me, even post-marriage, the only time these two recite love poetry is when they're gazing at their own reflections in the mirror.

The Blind Leading The Blind
The question arises as to whether you'd ever let a guy from Haverford and a woman from Bryn Mawr do ANYTHING having to do with romance, never mind pick out poems. Face it, you're not talking about experts here -- they had to marry EACH OTHER.

Give Them Some Credit...
I'm sorry this book didn't get such great reviews. I got it at a used bookstore and I love it. Don't let the editors take away from the book. These poems are beautiful, I haven't seen such a thorough collection before. Plus, I found the perfect poem to send to my lover, which is saying a lot.

The usual big monster at end....whoopee.
This book would have made a fine already-been-done 80-page story. The book is 365 pages long, and it is very boring. VERY. It takes till page 300 for anything real to happen. Don't bother.

Bitter Harvest Review
Bitter Harvest is about a man who gets accused of something he did out of self-defense. He goes though racism and torture. This man murdered three men out of self-defense. This book was all about how people are so prejudice that they cannot even look passed their feelings about others. Bitter Harvest was based on a true story.
I enjoyed this book because it was a true story about the passed. About racism and how people hated each other. This is something that I really find interesting to read about. How people lived in America in the 60's or 70's. Bitter Harvest had tons of exciting adventures put in to the story. This is what people thought when they were apart of this story.
He reason I chose this story is because it is about crime. It is also about trust and truth. Also I loved the cover. I thought it would be interesting. It was believed that it would be about World War 2. Even though it wasn't it was still okay. Anyways all of these events are true with plenty of depth.
