Sacred Vision: A Man's Legacy
This is a wonderful book! It boils down the truths of a spiritual life in a few short chapters and forces you to think about what it means to be a Christian, a man and a dad. Don't bother with this book if you want theology...this man's a teacher for men.

Gone with the Wind
In 1928, Margaret Mitchell began writing a passionate story about a woman who dare to stand up to the old traditions and ways, a woman who is wild and carefree, a woman who changed through the war. It is a tale of unrequited love, of a man who desires this woman with all his heart but who can never obtain her. He is Rhett Butler and she is Scarlett O'Hara and this is Gone with the Wind. Read it and you'll see why Margaret Mitchell is regarded as the best writer of all time and why Gone with the Wind is the best selling novel with more than 40 million copies and made into a 8 Academy Award winning movie, Gone with the Wind is truly amazing.

a truly zany and fun filled collection of plays for children
This collection of plays offers children some wacky clowning dialogue. The possibilites for dramatic action are numerous. A fun time will be had by all without the usual moralizing that so many children's plays slap on kids.

I couldn't put it down!!!
I'll be honest, I'm not much of a book reader, I tend to get bored very quickly... Not So With This One! I couldn't put it down. Very visual. I could almost see the images as if I was watching the movie, which would be great if it were ever made. If half of the things in this book are actual facts, which it sure sounds like it is, there could be some serious questions asked of our government. Pick it up, it is worth it.

Best Kept Secret in NYS
The author brings his experiences of growing up on Lake Ontario & of spending 22 years at West Point to this fast-moving epic of the founding of a beautiful upstate NY area. He traces the growth from the late 1700's to the end of the 19th century in a manner similiar to James Mitchner's "The Source." It is very difficult to put this book down as one learns more and more about what is quite possibly one of the best kept secrets of NYS. I found the book to be most interesting and informative. I look forward to the next book by Mr. Firstone. Keep up the good work!

One of the best books on the subject, pending new edition
There are many books covering this subject. However it is more common for Epilepsy to be a chapter in a Neurology or other textbook. The signigicant advantage to this sole subject text is the thoroughness and completness of the coverage. It is also better than other sole subject texts I have reviewed. Furthermore simple and what should be obvious matters are discussed yet absent in other texts. An example is the discussion on page 166 of the loss of speech during a simple partial seizure. This symptom is clearly stated yet absent from many other compendium. In fact a patient had just this loss of speech symptom after a neurosurgery procedure and it caused much controversy. Psychiatric consult was called and it was misdiagnosed as a panic/fear syndrome due to the surgery. The patient would have received the wrong treatment. . It was only after being presented with this speech arrest discussion that the diagnosis was changed to being symtomatic of this patients sim! ple partial seizure. This book has more than paid for itself and I await the new edition which should be out soon. There have been many changes since this last publication....

An essential perspective.
From a lit-crit perspective, an important distinction has to be made between Thoreau himself and his work. From a religious studies perspective, this distinction isn't as important, and we can speak of things like "Thoreau's own ecstatic wittness," as Hodder does, emphasizing the reflexive possessive. The real challenge for a Thoreau reader in Lit. class is to separate the work from the notion of Thoreau as MEANING something about himself in the work. This is difficult because he speaks in the first person, really went to Walden, and certainly believed many of his ideas. However, making this distinction between Thoreau and Thoreau's literary first person is also essential because Walden is a work of literature and as such contains a persona, a stylized voice, a structural integrity and an artistic vision in which the "I" plays an essential but not necessarily personal role. Fortunately, plenty of authors have already examined Thoreau's aesthetic sensibility, and Alan Hodder takes us in a new direction.
What Hodder does from a religious studies perspective is just as important, and also essential to deepening a literary reading of Thoreau's corpus. In fact, the Lit-Crit aesthetic perspective alone completely misses the ecstatic perspective of Thoreau's inter-religious first person voice. Arguably, Thoreau's "I" is his ecstatic witness, or rather the persona of an ecstatic witness. Hodder traces the sources of this ecstasy. This work has long been needed.
