This is one of the best of the six sisters series. Believable characters, charming escapades and deft storytelling make this and Frederica in Fashion(the two youngest sisters) the two best in the six sisters series. Diana only lives for the hunt and may do so provided she dresses as a man. But what she hadn't counted on was when she meets the tall fair Lord Dantry in her man's disguise, she never in her entire life wanted to be a woman more than at that moment. Don't waste your money on the other sisters stories.

Diana, hands down, has got to be the best of the Six Sisters - and the Six Sisters the best of all Chesney's series. This sister is like a stormy "breath of fresh air" unwilling to give up the freedoms of a tomboy until she learns a lesson to break her heart, though not her spirit.

The predicaments she lands herself in with much alacrity from Lord Mark Dantry, are extremely amusing and highly original. And the chemistry between the two is better than Minerva and Sylvester. Dantry is a rake on the verge of reform when he meets his match in Diana, a veritable goddess, warring for his heart.

This installment presents a full tapestry of life in the Regency period as it shifts back and forth from the country to London and back again. All the familiar characters and married sisters are back to contribute to an overall delightful experience. Though Minerva is hailed as the favorite of the six by many, read Annabelle, Deirdre, and Daphne simply to appreciate getting to Diana.

Marion Chesney has a marvelous sense of humor; her storytelling is amazing. She combines a lot of mystery with a smidgen of romance. This is about the 25th of her novels (also writes as M.C.Beaton) I've read and one of my favorites! Our heroine, Diana, hates the idea of being a lady preferring the hunt, with her father's blessing...at first. He now feels she MUST become a lady and this is the beginning of the headstrong Diana's escapades! Can she disguise herself as a boy a get away with it?

What can I say? You are sad at the end of the book because you hate to say good-bye to the characters. A fresh, original (avoiding the usual cliches)book. You will want to read this one again and again!

Can you imagine being good for nothing but marriage? Henrietta can't imagine, and decides to take her pittance of an inheritance and turn it into a fortune... but opening a London Sweet Shop? Soon, she and her beautiful partners are in business, working day and night to make lovely pastries,etc, to entice the passersby to patronize her shop. Her unseemly business is a success until the Earl of Carrisdowne catches his young brother and friend ogling the pretty girls behind the counter. A look at Henrietta made the Earl determined to put the place out of business and have her for his own! Says Henrietta..."I DON'T THINK SO!"

But Marion Chesney pulls a run-away heiress, to would be kidnap victim, into the funniest, even suspensful story of a lifetime. She describes the Victorian aristocracy to a "T". How the heiress' new friends, juggle financial embarrassment and star-crossed romance to rescue her from her tender predicament? Get a copy of this book; you won't be sorry.

Everything Chesney writes is a lot of fun, but the Poor Relations series is probably her best.

The London marriage mart held no interest for Mira, as she had her heart set on a childhood dream. Once her diabolical sister learns of the dream, she sets out to win the hand of Lord Charles, object of Mira's dreams. Mira had many jealous temper tantrums (including pushing her sister into a fountain) and nearly ruined her own respectibility. She didn't care until the Marquess of Grantley came to the rescue... then he wished he hadn't. This book was truly a great hoot. Wish there'd been a sequel.

Marion Chesney is one of the best romantic writer in the regency romance series. A wonderful story teller and Marion, keep up the good job. I hope you can continue to write more stories in the regency romance novels.

I never really like reading historical romances until I read this novel that made my mind change. It's my first time reading this type of novel, one of the best entertaining story so far besides those modern love stories. And I'm looking forwards to read more stories like this especially written by Marion Chesney...

Beauty is a powerful magnet and if done properly can fool all of high society's gentility. Emily shares in a bequest and becomes the darling of society, however, rumor begins that she is a runnaway maid and her "uncle" a former butler. The fifth volume of "A House for the Season" is delightful and fun. Emily gets into a tangle that only the servents can pull her out of.

Book two; Miss Pym boards a stagecoach and finds herself involved in the sad situation of Miss Belinda Earle (heiress banished) who has decided NEVER to marry! Too bad for her; she's delightfully pretty and falls under the spell of an austere bachelor who disdains romance... Seems like a likely pair? Some people don't think so and make every attempt to squelch the relationship. Then...Miss Pym to the rescue. Highly entertaining !

The scrapes which Miss Pym and Deborah get into are quite funny, and I even found myself chuckling quietly to myself on occasion. I loved the two stories going on at once during the book, the first being Deborah's romance, and the second, Miss Pym's love of her late employer's brother.

Alice didn't want to marry the Duke of Ferrant, but it had been arranged, even though her parents knew her heart belonged to another. How sad? Well, you might think so, until you realize an untimely gift of a mynah bird and an unusual sequense of events might make her realize the man she married was something far more than she had hoped for! However, the gossip mongers were persistent! Her marriage was horrible and it was rumored the Duke had taken a mistress... Oh, woe... what to do?

Madame Waverley has done everything to raise Fanny, Frederica and Felicity as "man-haters". Sounds pretty strong; yet, you'll soon learn the great lengths Madame goes to to keep their pretty heads filled with the sins of the male sex. Fortunately the Earl of Tredair meets Fanny is a most unusual way and the adventure begins! How could Fanny regard men as cruel and lustful beasts when she found herself wanting to kiss one? Uh, oh!
