Review from Latin American Indian Literatures Journal
"....This edition of SahagĂșn's first ethnographic study of Mesoamerican culture from the city of Tepepolco (comonly referred to as Primeros Memoriales) has many virtues. Among them are the text's status as a companion volume to an accessible facsimile edition (1993, Volume 200, Part One of the same series). The study reflects a collaboration of noted scholars offering multiple interpretations of a variety of aspects of the document. The information within provides a detailed treatment of non-Mexican residents of the Valley of Mexico....

....In a tribute to Sullivan's efforts, this edition of the Primeros Memoriales has brought together a veritable Dream Team of Nahuatl linguists and translators, art and cultural historians, and bibliographers, resulting in not only a comprehensive and trustworthy study but also a shining example of the need for collaborative efforts in this very interdisciplinary field. For those of us learning Nahuatl but who are not as advanced as we would like to be, the knowledge that Sullivan, Dibble, and Anderson have all participated in the translation allows a more confident approach to the material contained in the Primeros Memoriales. This translation, presented in conjunction with the paleography so that we can see the Nahuatl ourselves, and the facsimile so that we can corroborate our information, also increases the value of this edition. The collaborators and their press should be highly commended for their efforts. Jeanne L. Gillepsie"

A thorough tool for center/self examination...
I was fortunate enough to receive classroom training in using this manual. (As well as the others in the series.) But over the years I've found it to be a great tool in monitoring overall classroom quality. It is broken down into very specific sections and the scoring system is easy to follow, with specific defintions/descriptions for item. It encompasses a "wholistic" approach to evaluation. It not only takes into account room arrangement, health & safety, and curriculum, but staff and child interractions, peer interractions, and day to day activities (transition time, meals) as well. It is a wonderful tool to use when you want to evaluate the quality of your school age program. And the great thing is, it can be used over and over again as a way of seeing how much improvement has been made.
This is the criteria that the Mentor-Teacher program in my area uses when they award accredidation to a person who wants to be a mentor teacher. They go step by step, page by page, when evaluating a potential candidate (or for re-accredidation). So if you are thinking of pursuing a mentoring position, or just want to improve the overall quality of your classroom, this is the book for you.

What a wonderful book!
I'm a college student, and my roomie, from Australia, read this book to me. It's not only a wonderful book with whimsical value for a college girl, but also gives great lessons for children about rehabbing animals. The pictures are adorable!

Intelligent and fascinating
Soul Echoes is a concise, no-nonsense approach to the understanding and use of past-life therapy. Dr. Freedman not only includes fascinating excerpts from her clients' forays into their past lives, but draws on the tenets and theory of both religion and psychology to form a clear, thoughtful picture of reincarnation. The result is a book that is as interesting as it is helpful; a fascinating journey into the wholeness and healing of the human race.

Poems from the center place
For such an imaginative poet, Dr. Thelma Hall has a realistic perspective on life. Some days we feel we are pressed against hard, cold, unmoving stone, and some days we burst into sunlight and happiness. Hall's beautiful book of poetry, Sunlight and Stones, takes us both to the stone-cold (Auschwitz, the devestation of nuclear warfare) and the exquisitely warm (the love between a mother and daughter). Dr. Hall tells us that the best place is the "center place" - neither filled with too much sunlight nor dampened by too much sorrow. It is from this center place that Dr. Hall's writing really shines. When she tells us of bartering in an Oriental marketplace, using only her hands to communicate, we are truly there, watching her hands flutter as little birds. Oh, how I loved this book...and hope to see more of Hall's writing in the future! In the meantime, I plan to re-read this one, curled up in my armchair with a glass of wine, in my own center place.

Good story
After runnning away from home in his jeep, Martin Miller runs out of gas and hides in a canyon. He lives in his jeep, works at a hamburger place, and goes to school. The ending is somewhat predictable, but it works well. Highly recommended.

We Brake for Joy
"We Brake for Joy" is not one of those devotional books that you will place on your bookshelf and never pick up again! It is an excellent book written by Women of Faith. It is perfect to pick up during a "brake" in order to read a Bible verse and a short vignette that compliments the verse. Not only will this book be an aid for spiritual growth for you, you will be able to share what you learn with others. This book will bring you "joy" unspeakable. You will like this book so much that you will want to give it as a gift to other women.

Wonderful!
This book was a joy to read. It is the first in a series about the Walker family. Ms. Branch combined a little of everything and it blended perfectly! If you enjoy mystery, intrigue, a little witchcraft, and sitting on the edge of your chair, be sure to read this! You won't put it down; you just might pick it up to read again.
