My Kid's First Love
Bond, James Bond. Say those words in my house and it's panic stations all around. This was the only book I could find on the James Bond movie series when they were little. It really is a well published book with over a hundred photographs with many in color. It is written with the younger reader in mind so it was just perfect. Timothy Dalton was just starting as James Bond so he's on the cover but it does cover each film up to "The Living Daylights." We still have it and read it (well, look at the pictures).

Celebrating James Bond for 25 Years
This is one of the best books on the James Bond series. Sally Hibban first issued this book to coincide with the Twenty-fifth Anniversary of the James Bond films and the introduction of Timothy Dalton as James Bond back in 1987. It is profusely illustrated with beautiful color photographs especially from DR. NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and OCTOPUSSY. Rather than being a critique of the Bond series, author Hibban dedicates a chapter to each film focusing on the highlights of each. Hibban's book is a tribute to the celebration of 25 years of James Bond on the screen. This is a very enjoyable and colorful book and is a good souvenir of the series. Albert R. Broccoli wrote the Introduction.

Amercian Friendships and Sources
Within the realm of Family Values, children are taught to value not only family, but also friendships. As adults, however, there is great pressure to discount the value of friendships among males and females, between men, and between women - particularly where marriage values are strong. For many adults who live away from childhood friends, or who have no childhood friends, close emotional support expected to be found in friendships may not be present, or cultivated as the necessary social relations they are. Most are the result of work or sports groups with whom people spend time but may not contain the emotional depth of childhood friends. The quality of dual gender non-spousal friendships is always suspect, increasing the need for male friends, or female friends, which may not be readily available for the types of associations adults require, as the natural consequence of having had childhood friends. Patterns of friendships and their sources (as well as their depth) is one of the little studied human behavior, perhaps the world over. At times, even the quality of friendships is undefined and confusing often being the result of mutually beneficial social or economic relationships rather than the simple, mutual appreciation and admiration of that between childhood friends. Intergenerational friendships, if at all, are often those associated with grandparents or other family members rather than outsiders, and increasingly problematic in view of recent news articles where children are exploited through friendship. A review and evaluation of the integrity of relationships between friends is more likely the need which this analysis begins to address to understand the need for, and the quality of, real friendships and hopefully, how they are made, since, for men, quality friendships are increasingly rare commodities unless they are rooted in the trust of childhood friends, carried over to adulthood. A relatively new field of exploration, the dynamics of adult friendships is unexplored territory in human relations.

Not Just For Bond Fans
This is really a beautiful James Bond calendar. It retains the glossy look and appeal of James Bond calendars from former years. Captured are great stills from the James Bond through the years. James Bond is 40 and still going. Agent 007 of her Majesty's Secret Service is eternal and still holds great appeal after all these years. Not just for Bond fans.

Touching, well written, and incredibly insightful
This book is a winner. Never before have I encountered a book on Cancer from the doctor's point of view. Dr. Berger reveals not only his knowledge but his intense range of emotions on the subject. I recommend this book to anyone whose life has been touched by this disease.

003 and 1/2 is in charge here!
I was nine years old when I read this masterpiece. I found it at my local library and checked it out many times. That was in 1972. I wonder if it is still on those shelves? It appears to be out of print. If you encounter this title and have child or have a child within you who still delights at the adventures of secret agents, this book will topple your spectres.

GARDNERs Pay Off
John Gardner's screenplay approach to writing novels pays off. This is his first novel based on the screenplay of a Bond film and he seems to have found his niche even though some of these events are a retelling from Ian Fleming's novel "Live and Let Die" with the same character being mangled again! However, this novel is based on Richard Maibaum and Michael G. Wilson's story for Timothy Dalton's James Bond in LICENCE TO KILL. It remarkably makes for an interesting read from an otherwise unsatisfactory film adding detail to scenes and venturing inside the head of the main character exploring his feelings and motivations. For John Gardner this is pretty inspiring stuff.

An Excellent Study: Dissecting James Bond
This book is very good to read after you have freshly finished the Ian Fleming's original 'James Bond' books (avaliable in a new edition from Viking and Penguin: order them now!). It allows readers to take a peak into the aspects of Bond they might have missed whilst reading. Amis has taken Fleming's original facts, ellaborated, and made his own humourous, sketchy, and facinating observations. As a literary master himself, and a long-time admirer of what he calls 'the Fleming affect', Amis expertly takes apart, not just the world, but the man, James Bond. Fleming veiwed the manuscript of this book shortly before he died, and approved every part save minor quibles of what James Bond ate, drove or drank.
As stated earlier, Amis was himself a bond-fan, and said to Fleming once: "Mr Fleming, You are the only author whom I can say 'I have read all your books, and have enjoyed them thouroughly'". A due credit.
