Must read book... if you love animal stories
Ten True Animal Rescues was a four out of five rated book written by Jeanne Betancourt. My favorite part was when the hamster, Snowball, saved the Holmans from the fire in their home while they were sleeping. My favorite character was Snowball. Each animal rescue takes place in a different location, including Connecticut and New Jersey. I learned animals can be the hero sometimes. This is a book I would recommend to a friend. To conclude, a great book to reed was Ten True Animal Rescues.

A wonderful book for kids who love animals!
My 8 year old son loved this book so much he insisted on reading the stories out loud to me. Who would have ever thought that a guinea pig could save a family from a burning house!

Ten Animals, Ten Rescues, Ten Times The Fun!
These ten stories are about animals who saved the lives of their owners or complete strangers. Read about a dog who saves a family from a burning house, a cat who saves a baby girl, and much more! These animals are more than just cute and lovable--- they save lives!

OKAY, BUT COULD BE BETTER!
This book was okay. But I kinda got a little bored during the trail rides. It's an okay book, but I suggest making the books longer. But I liked it and I think you should read it.

a easy read with a weak plot
This book, is cute. Im 19 and I have danced since I was 6. Kate's Turn is a cute book to read but lacks a strong plot to carry it. It shows the true nature of a hard working dancer however, the choice to leave something Kate has done for years seems very easy. Most of the time this is not true...its a nice easy read though

A lovely, but rather weak, look at professional ballet
Kate's Turn is the story of 13-year-old Kate Conway, from Oregon, who has been accepted at the National Ballet School in New York City to study as a serious dancer. There she meets other aspiring ballerinas; her housemother, Ruth, who used to be a dancer before she had a baby; and the son, Jason, who is now a teenager. Kate watches her friends succeed and fail, one girl return home for a knee transplant, and ultimately decides that she would rather live a "normal" teenage life and not continue with her dance scholarship.

I've enjoyed this book for nine years, but now that I'm older the plot failings are more obvious. While it made sense to *me* that Kate might not want to be immersed in a worse of fierce competition and eating disorders for the rest of her life, it seemed that she made that choice too quickly. I can stand on the outside of the dance world and say this, but I haven't been dancing seriously for seven years, the way Kate has. It seemed that she was able to leave the dance world too easily.

Kate's Turn has a lot of virtues, though: the characters are fun and believable, especially Olga, the dancer from Russia, and Kate's unlikely friendship with Jason also provides some laughs, as well as insight. Jason's relationship with his mother is also interesting and believable in that tragic way of unwanted children; at the end, when Kate is flipping through a book of old pictures of famous ballerinas, she sees a picture of Ruth and realizes that Ruth really was a great ballerina before she had Jason. The book is also a hard objective look at some rather gritty subjects - specifically eating disorders - in a way that children can relate to.

It's nice to see Kate making the decision to do something different with her life, but since we don't really know what at the end of the book, it's hard to judge whether the decision has actually been worth it. The book ends with some beautiful writing, but no real sense of closure. One has the idea that maybe Betancourt left it open for a sequel, then didn't want to spoil the simple beauty of the story she had told.

Kate's dream is to dance...
I first read Kate's Turn over 6 years ago, (I'm now 16), and I've read it many times since. It is realistic, all her characters certainly could be real. It is all about ballet dancing and living in New York (though less on the latter). It's a classic, it is easy to read and very fulfilling. Any aspiring ballerina should read it!

Teenage Girl Living in a Prejudice World
The story line has a prejudice plot, with the story starting to sound like a mushy romance, but of course, no story is complete without one. When all is well, some Asian comes, Dary Sing, and that is mainly when the prejudice starts. Brad, a big jock, has a crush on Liz, the main character, but Liz loves Been Lee, a natural born United States citizen with a Chinese heritage. So you can see the love circle problem here right? Liz, though, helps Dary try to fit in and with her English, but only Dary, Mrs. Dahm (Dary's aunt) and the teachers cares. But it seems that when she is with Dary Ben avoids her. But even for ben to see Liz he has to lie to his parents. Will ben ever face up tp his parents? Will Brad ever stop being prejudice? Will Dary unravel her horrific past of Cambodia? Read More Than Meets The Eye.
Ok, this book was ok, not bad really. Although it did get boring in some spots but the rest was ok. This book would be great for all readers.

More Than Meets The Eye
More Than Meets the eye is a book about a girl named Elizibeth. elizibeth is a sophmore at Ethan Allen High School. She is neck and neck for 1st in class with Ben Lee, a Chineese-American boy who Liz likes. But when Dary sing, a girl transferd from Cambodia, comes to ethan Allen, Liz volenteers to show her around and to teach her English. Ben doesn't like the fact that people think he would of been the one to volenteer to help Dary out. But the only one to help was Liz. A guy named Brad doesn't like Ben becuase Liz likes Ben and Be n likes Liz. He wants to prove liz wrong by doing his homework and bye volenteering for two new students from across the world. I think this book was really good. I thought it would be kind of boring, but it turned out to be pretty good.

More Than Meets the Eye
This book was about a Cambodian girl that must more to America because her parents have died. She needs some help because she can't speak English at all. Liz is assigned to help Dary find her way around school. Liz finds herself spending more and more time helping Dary and less and less time hanging out with her friends. Liz doesn't know what to do and how to help Dary, but at the same time hang out and enjoy her life with her friends.
I really liked this book because it taught me that everyone has different things to offer. People shouldn't judge people by physical appearance but what he or she has to offer on the inside.
This book, I think, is not like any other book I have ever read. It has many different types of people and shows how it might be hard for someone who speaks a different language to come to America and have to speak English.

Pretty Good
In this book, Pam finds herself having trouble with Lightning that she doesn't know why. Soon, Lightning starts getting more dangerous and gives Pam a couple more bruises. That's when it's decided to get Pam's dad involved, but what's wrong with Pam's Pony? I liked that at the beginning for once that I didn't have a clue what the problem was. Even though I am getting a little old for this series, I like the fact that these books are well written and deserved to be read.

Heartfelt
Pam, one of the Pony Pals, is shocked to discover that Lightning, her pony, is behaving oddly. He seems upset with her, her friends, and even the other ponies. Pam soon learns the problem is more serious than Lightning's hurt feelings. Readers will be just as anxious as Pam for a happy resolution.

This is the first Pony Pals book I have read, and I found it very enjoyable. While its relatively straightforward plot and writing style are clearly aimed at younger readers (well, younger than me, anyway), I still got caught up in the emotion. I was also impressed at the level of complexity shown in the friendship between the Pony Pals. Yes, they're all friends, but that doesn't mean everything is always sweetness and light. I'm surprised to find myself wanting to read other books in the series, and I'm sure regular readers will be pleased by this installment.

What is wrong with Lightning?
I don't usually have trouble with my pony Acorn but I know what it's like to fall out of the saddle. It hurts!
Pam loves her chestnut Connamara pony Lightning. She never has trouble with her.But lately Lightning has been acting very strange.Pam falls off her back more than usual and gets a lot of bruises.Pam's Pony Pals Anna and Lulu are worried. So then Pam's dad the vet is called in.The Pony Pals find out that what is troubling the poor pony is more than feelings. Can the Pony Pals help Lightning?A great book to read and find out for yourself!
