why she must like it!
This book was very informative. I was in an abusive relationship for several years. Every woman/girl should read this book. They could be in the early stages of an abusive relationship and not really realize it, but if they read this book they could recognize the signs. And hopefully get out before it's too late. It's very hard to see the signs yourself, when you are in "love". And the more your friends and family nag you about it, the more in "love" you become and the more you want to work things out. Do any and everything to make your partner happy. And it seems the more you try, to worse it gets. I think that reading the personal stories of strangers in similar situations, you can recognize the signs. I was reading the stories, and i would say to myself "wow, he said or did the same thing". It was somewhat comforting to know that there was someone else out there who knew how it was. Most of the abuse stories you hear, whether on tv or read in an article, is all about, why dont you leave?, why do you stay? ,, You just can't understand the fear and love that go hand in hand with the situation. Being with someone like that is like being on drugs, you dont think you can live without them. I actually would have anxiety attacks when we would actually break up. I thought that all our problems were my fault and if I could just be more of what he wanted it would work out. I just think everyone should read this book, especially teenage girls. I think that most men who dominate and abuse usually target young girls with little experience so they can manipulate them. It's really a mind game with these men and they know how to play it well. So there should be something to read for the girls so they can see the signs, "red flags" as it is referred to in the book... I just thought it was an excellently written book. thank you.

Shoes is a wonderful read aloud book for youngsters.
As a media specialist, I have thoroughly enjoyed using SHOES with my first graders and kindergarteners. The children love to take off their shoes and wiggle those toes. They also enjoy anticipating the next page. This book is a must for any elementary library and for the home.

Nice collection of primary sources in English
This is a nice book to get for anyone serious about studying early Korean History (pre-Yi dynasty). It gives you a taste of the Samguk Sagi, Samguk Yusa, The Chronicles of Koryo as well as early Wei China accounts and the controversial inscription on King Kwanggetto's Monolith. From these documents, you can learn, quite literally from the horse's mouth, the struggle of the Three Kingdoms against each other, the struggle of the later Three Kingdoms and the thought and philosophy of the people at that time. Please bear in mind, these are excerpts, not full texts of the primary sources. These only give you a taste and flavor of the full texts.

Spanish Still Life from Velazquez to Goya

this is the point of still life
Spanish Still Life is the catalogue that accompanied a National Gallery, London, exhibition of 1995. To be honest, I've mostly skipped the text in favor of dropping my jaw (check out Juan Sanchez Cotan) in response to the images, which prove how important and radical a genre still life was from 1600 through Goya (1746-1828). There is plenty here to fuel the fires of romantics, painters, photographers, logicians, dreamers, minimalists, environmentalists, animal activists, and those enamored with the domestic sphere. Still life, in this age, was not humble. It was intimate, political, religious, intellectual and incredibly visceral. I missed the show, but I have the book. Small comfort, perhaps, yet I would rescue this book from a burning house.

reprinting of a classic book on design
This is a reprint of Peter John classic book on experimental designs originally published by MacMillan but now reprinted by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in their Classics in Applied Mathematics series. The book was written in 1971 and there have been many changes in philosophy for experimental designs since then. Also the revolution in computing has had an influence. In his "Preface to the Classics Edition" John reflects on the state of computing in 1966 when he first contracted to write the book and 1998 when the book was reprinted. He also describes the history of experimental design and extends it to the advances of Taguchi. It was industrial applications that attracted John to do research in experimental designs and he see industry as a rich source for design problems. The text covers all the classical design work with examples from agriculture and industry. It has heavy coverage of incomplete block designs and in Chapter 13 he demonstrates how to construct the various balanced incomplete block designs. There is a lot of theory. Although the title says design and analysis it is primarily a book on designs. Response surface methods and the evolutionary operation approach are also covered....

Sticks and Stones
I would buy this book for the photography alone. However, the projects are set forth in a clear and understandable manner. I was especially glad to have the materials translated from British to American. Even so, I have had difficulty finding epoxy putty. Brand names would be so helpful. Many of the natural materials used are not available here in deep south Texas, but I find that the techniques presented can be applied to our local flora. After all, mesquite is every bit as twisty as alder. An inspiring book, and the results are NOT tacky.

A complete vision of Critical Care Medicine
The book has a very interesting review of the princicipal topics of Critical Care Medicine. The chapters of Trauma, are very important for the knowledge of the medical team. The part of phisiopatology is the key in the understanding the principal problems of a patient critical ill. Chapter of IMAGIN is the basis of others parts of the book , in spite of the fact that , if we are able to evaluate the information of rx, all type of scans, we give a good patient care . The information about de manegement of childs is very interesting. Here are the chapters, I like more: Cardio Coronary-Cerebral Resuscitation Pediatric Resuscitation Invasive and Noninvasive Monitoring Rapid Identification of Coronary Artery Insufficiency Medical Toxicology in Critical Care Physiologic Response To Injury Acute Pain in the Intensive Care Unit Intensive Care Management of the Injured Child Burn Care and Inhalation Injury Trauma to the Pregnant Patient Trauma Care of the Elderly IMAGING Cytokines in Disease Regulation of Gene Expression INFECTIOUS DISEASE Malaria and Other Tropical Infections in the Intensive Care Unit Antimicrobial Resistance ENDOCRINOLOGY, METABOLISM, NUTRITION, PHARMACOLOGY

A cold, hard, meticulous look at state support
In Trends In Outside Support For Insurgent Movements, Daniel Byman, Peter Chalk, Bruce Hoffman, William Rosenau, and David Brannan effective collaborate to produce a cold, hard, meticulous look at state support, incitement, and sponsorship of insurgencies from the Cold War ear through modern globalization. All types of this practice, from offering fighters or training to simply offering a blank check are closely scrutinized. An incredibly timely book given the world situation today and the American commitment to eradicate rogue state supported international terrorism, and written at a college level with heavy research and annotation, Trends In Outside Support For Insurgent Movements is a fascinating, albeit disturbing, look at political machinations around the world.

A review of Two Leggings
This book was prepared by Nabokov from notes from interviews between the ethnographer and collector Wildschut and the aged Crow warrior Two Leggings. Those looking for a general account of plains Indian life in the mid to late 19th century may be disappointed. This book deals almost solely with Two Leggings spirtual pursuit of 'power' or 'medicine' to give him success in horse raids. And by extension status within his tribal society. The book highlights the significance of dreams to the Plains Indian and the impact they had on the real world. The book documents Two Leggings various attempts to acquire 'power' through fasting or vision quests and also gives accounts of numerous horse raids he made against his tribal enemies. The end of the days of freedom on the plains and the reservation period are largely ignored for, as far as Two Leggings was concerned, nothing of interest happened after the buffalo disappeared and horse raiding ended.

All in all an excellent book which reveals how the spritual world and warfare were so interwoven in the mind of the Plains Indian.
