Moving -- the good news, the bad news
Moving is never easy for children. But Nancy Carlstrom's mama mouse affirms the fears of her child while offering a future full of possibilities. The pictures are great, with lots of little details for young readers concerned about the transition and location of all their "stuff."
Wonderful
We are on the brink of moving and my 3 1/2 year old loves this book. The little mouse in the book doesn't want to move, but all the while he's watching his mom pack up all of his favorite stuff. The mom ensures him that their new home will have all the great things that their old one does, but will be even better. This book has sparked some great conversations with our son about moving and how we will always remember the fun times we had in our old house, "but it's better to all together in someplace new." This is a great book for a child to "read" along - he/she will enjoy saying "But I'm not moving, Mama!" throughout the book.

good book !
I was lucky to find this book to improve upon my skills for GRE's analytical writing section (introduced as of october 2002). The author describes effective writing techniques by recommending a set of rules & showing instances of each of them in action. The examples provided would be most useful to a reader because it shows what to avoid & how to rewrite sentences more effectively.
Kaplan Writing Power
This book has been a tremendous help studying for my SATs and ACTs. Pre-College students will love it as a study guide; adults can enjoy it as a review.

So Good
One reason I like Nancy Springer is she manages to weave so much more besides horses into her stories. Not On A White Horse is a perfect example. I read it so many times, when I had it. This book showcases one girl, Riannon, just before her teenage years, in a dead end town with a horrible family life. Then there is Angel, a hard headed white arabian who would rather be free wandering the hills than be captured. And then there are the people who own him, who give Ri a second home and her horse dreams. Very good! I wish it weren't out of print!
Not on a White Horse
This book is so awesome!I fell in love with this book because it is so realistic. It shows real problems that real families in today's societies have to face. The events in it do not occur like fairy tales, but, instead, occur like many in my own life.It is a book that just about everyone can relate to at one time in their life.It let's people know that there is not a person in the world who doesn't have problems like they do.It made me realize how selfish I was to feel sorry for myself when there are other people out there with lives much worse than my own.I was mystified for weeks at how true and realistic this book was. It tuned me into the real world that lay beyond my thoughts that everyone's life was perfect but mine.

You will love Barnaby and Friends
I am an adult according to my age. Barnaby is a book for all ages, if you love animals especially dogs. Dogs are unconditional Love and this is where Barnaby shines. Barnaby talks of things in a way that humans may not be able to. Barnaby, is a three-legged Yorkshire Terrier. He lost his leg to Cancer which eventually took his life. Barnaby has lessons for kids who have an illness, handicaps, seperation from parents due to domestic violence, physical and sexual abuse, foster care, overeating and even death. For kids it addresses these issues in sub-conscious ways better than adults may do. We may remember talking dogs, mice, pigs, puppets, rabbits, purple dinosours where more influential on us than most humans as a kid.
Required reading for all hospitals, foster homes, social workers or anyone who works with or cares about kids. You can read Barnaby and Friends to a child who may find themselves in those unfortunate circumstances or let those who can read do so on their own. The writing style is at a basic childs level.
Also just a good reading for an Adult who wants to see unconditional Love and postive thinking from a dogs point of view and a good reminder how lucky some of us really are.

Better Not Get Wet, Jesse Bear
This is the second book we've read in the Jesse Bear Series, and we love it as much as the first one, "What Will You Wear Jesse Bear?" We plan to buy the rest. The illustrations are wonderful and hold my two year olds attention as he soaks up all details. He loves the little bear and his parents. The rhyming style is very catchy and has enough repetition to keep a toddler involved. The book shows a typical toddler (who happens to be a bear) trying his best to get wet in all sorts of daily activities. He is continually thwarted by the warning "Better not get wet Jesse Bear!" until his parent bears finally let him loose in his own pool. My son LOVES to say that line as it is repeated throughout the story and yell "SPLASH" when Jesse Bear gets to jump into his pool. Surprisingly, the book made the sublte point to my son about puddles and such. When he runs across them now, he shakes his head and says "better not wet, Jesse Bear"

Incredible Tale Of A Childhood Must-Have Book
I had this book read to me by my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Reed. It is my favorite book of all time, and the story is fascinating. Even now, while in college, I still remember how often I would read this book as a child. However, there was only one copy at my elementary school library, so I have been unable to find this book--until now. Thanks to Amazon, they found a copy for me and it's on its way to me now!! I'm thankful I'll be able to read this book to my children of an incredible tale of a child-hood must-have book!

A Review of Crimes of the Middle Class
This book is an excellent resource for all individuals who are affilitated with law enforcement and or the Criminal Justice System. It allows for an indepth view and explanation of white collar crimes and their diverse nature. This collaborative project gave and excellent look at the criminal justice process from start to finish regarding the conviction and actual sentencing of these offenders. One of the most important aspects of this literary work is the fact that it actually attempts to profile the average white collar criminal. Overall, I feel that this book should act as a benchmark for those white collar crime scholars who want to further expand the general understanding of who these white collar criminals are and how they make their living through scams.

Different names for Christ sprinkle this Nativity story
As church librarian, I bought this book for our church library for this Christmas season and I am glad I did. Most children have several books of the Nativity, but this one has a slightly diifferent take on it. Each page of text calls Jesus a different name, like "bread", "vine," "life," etc. The text is best read slowly and meaningfully as it is written very well, and the prose is delicious on the tongue. At the end, it lists all the various words for Christ found in the book with scriptural references. The Illustrations are lovely, freely done oil paintings. If you want to purchase a truly meaningful book for kids ages 4-8 for Christmas, I can suggest this as being a fine choice. Nice job to Nancy Carlstrom and the Illustrator, Lois McElrath-Eslick.

Jesse Bear's Tum-Tum Tickle (Jesse Bear Board Books)
The first time my son saw a Jesse Bear Board Book at 10 months old we were at the library. I had to re-check it out 2 times (the max they would let me) because he couldn't part with it. This started me on a hunt for all Jesse Bear Board Books. My son is now 17 months and they are still his favorites. He can say them a long with me. We read them over and over and over every day! He loves lots of books, but these are truly the greatest hit I have seen yet. After teaching school to Kindergarteners and Pre-schoolers, using the other Jesse Bear Books, I am glad to find Jesse Bear books for the toddler. We are sold on Jesse Bear at our house. What a fun way for children to be introduced to the world of words!

The Magic School Bus has the right idea about light
Ms. Frizzle and her class explore the world of light. From understanding how light needs a source to how shadows are made, this book is a wonderful teaching tool.
My nephew enjoyed this book while I was reading it to him as well. I believe that he grasped the concept of a shadow, because it was easy to demonstrate it while we were sitting in the car with sunlight around us.
The book also deals with the concept of tricking people and how it can come back to haunt you. :-)!
I think that this book is a wonderful aid in helping children learn the concepts of light.
