Practical Book on Health
This book is the most practical layman's book on health I have ever read. It's not a silly home remedies book. Nor is it a hard to understand technical manual. It gives plain and simple advice on how to live a healthy life. Everything from how to care for yourself and others when ill to what simple steps you can take to keep from getting ill to what kind of diet is best to how to take care of yourself when you're pregnant.

Examples: Did you know it is best not to mix fruits and vegetables in a single meal? Do you know what difference in diets manual laborers and mental laborers should be for optimum results?

Whomever you are, whether a searcher for physical health, mental health, or spiritual health, you will find this book both fascinating and easily applicable to your life. This book even contains practical advice for medical doctors!

Probably first wholistic health book; inspired Back to Eden
I've used this 19th Century book in a health seminar. It is a pioneering work, and its truths have been adopted with little credit given by the wholistic health movement in general. Ellen G. White was one of wholistic health's earliest proponents. This book is still modern; nothing in it is out of date. Kloss cites the Author Ellen G. White as a major influence, in his book Back to Eden. Ministry of Healing presents a wholistic approach to health, emphasizing a simple lifestyle and fundamental health habits. Ellen White, the author, is a good wordsmith. She avoids tangents, and sticks to the basics that provide 99 percent of what is necessary to live a healthy, fruitful life. She presents clear discussions of family values, community approaches that preserve community health, exercise, whole vegetarian foods, food preparation that preserves food values, avoidance of vices including alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, and stimulating foods like black pepper and mustard, avoidance of unnecessary medicine, simple layman healing methods (she pioneered the use of water, hot and cold and sunlight as an adjunct to healing), and she searches the scriptures to find clear modern-day applications to health issues. You can heal yourself with the truths in this book. There is a health institute, Weimar Institute in California, that is based on the teachings of this book. As you read this book you'll experience an atmosphere of incredible light, both spiritually and physically. Her writing style is excellent, and very loving. She's helped me with my health, and I've passed on the truths she taught to many others.

An outstanding inspired piece of work!
The book, "Ministry of Healing" is not only a book which helps to cure sicknesses, but it prevents sickness. This book is clearly an inspired book which centers on spiritual sources of power for all healing. This book is the first, alternative to the bare New Age healers. This book centers on God as the sole source for power, and offers a 100% guarantee that all problems will be cured if taken to God. That guarantee in the book has urged many readers to read the other books by E.G.White. Her books are excellent sources of strength. All of her books are available at Amazon.Com

READ THIS BOOK!
In "Patriarchs and Prophets" Ellen G. White gives us important insights into the origins of evil and suffering, tells us the TRUE story of the origins and early history of the earth and of mankind(Yes, Virginia, God really did create the earth and everything on it in six literal days, and there really was a great flood!), and covers the history of God's people from Adam to David. All this she does with Tolkienesque skill, always pointing the reader to the Bible as God's word and to Jesus Christ as the only hope for mankind, singly and collectively. In a nutshell, the underlying message of this book is: GOD LOVES YOU!

Fact or Fiction -- You will be both entertained and educated
This book presents an excellent chronology of events that preceeds the dawn of creation. Although you may be already familiar with some of this tale, you will be in for an enhanced perspective. The color and emotion that the author lends to the tale will have you barely able to put this book down.

You will most definitely be in for a real-life enhancing experience!

A Great Guide to Understanding the Bible
This is a fantastic book for several reasons:

First, as it expounds on the experiences of the patriarchs and prophets, the reader can see clearly the reasons why God acted in the ways that He did. This removes a great deal of the arbitrariness that sometimes seems to accompany the actions of God in the Bible.

Second, it often relates different stories in the Bible which serves to reiterate the principle being illustrated. Here the foundation is laid for a greater, broader understanding of all the Bible, because it teaches the reader how to study it.

Third, it is composed of many short chapters, which makes it great as a devotional aid. This makes contemplation and application easier within the short time available to the busy reader.

If you like this book, you will also like the others in the series: "Prophets and Kings," the Desire of Ages," "The Acts of the Apostles," and especially "The Great Controversy," which covers modern times.

Finally, a teen romance that doesn't put you in sugar shock!
Ellen Emerson White did a great job with the issues facing the teens of the 1980's and now. This book deals with closet intellectualism, teenage sex, and peer pressure in a very realistic, yet sensitive manner. Ms. White has walked the fine line between patronizing and entertaining for teenage readers, as well as between controversial and acceptable to parents, with style and grace. This novel is a triumph!

It should be noted that, although the novel deals with teenage sex, there is no sexual activity described in its pages. There is merely talk of previous experience (no details, just mention that it took place) in a rueful tone, as well as some implication of sexual tension. There is also brief mension of a past partner's "period."

This novel may well create an open forum between you and your child to discuss sex and its implications. Be prepared to answer questions.

Very Funny
I found this book very funny. Ellen Emerson White has such a unique style of writting. Once when I was at the libary I saw a book called, "Life Whithout Friends" I desided I'd take out because I knoticed it before and didn't take it out because I all ready had alot of books. Now I've read every single book by her including this one and they all are wounderful.

BEST YOUNG ADULT BOOK I HAVE EVER READ
When I was fourteen years old, I discovered this book tucked away in the corner of an old book store. Seven years later, the cover is crinked from frequent readings and it is one of the only books I have kept from my childhood. I LOVE THIS BOOK. It is touching, heart warming, romantic, and realistic. This book is defintely a keeper and one any reader would cherish forever.

From Sin to Minister in the Name of Christ
This book, being among a set of 5, reveals the nature of Sin and its far-reaching impact on all. As with all Ellen White's books, she conveys the way toward the abhorence of sin and to the Grace of a righteous life in Jesus. From the book, "Patriarchs & Profits", to "The Triumph of God's Love" (now titled, "The Great Controversay"), I have personally experienced steady growth in the Spirit of Christ Jesus. Thank God for Ellen White!

A Wonderful Commentary on Acts
If you want to read a wonderful, general commentary dealing primarily with the events of the book of Acts, read this book. Here is a great quote from the chapter Transformed by Grace. "Prayer is heaven's ordained means of success in the conflict with sin and the development of Christian character....For the pardon of sin, for the Holy Spirit, for a Christlike temper, for wisdom and strength to do His work, for any gift He has promised, we may ask; and the promise is, "Ye shall receive." (Acts of the Apostles, p. 564).

Here is another wonderful statement. "Your sins may be as mountains before you; but if you humble your heart and confess your sins, trusting in the merits of a crucified and risen Saviour, He will forgive and will cleanse you from all unrighteousness." (Acts of the Apostles, p. 566).

This book was written years ago and you might find the style somewhat quaint, but you will be blessed if you are seeking for deep spiritual refreshment.

I have a question
I was just wondering if there was a book that came after, Life Without Friends, which is about Beverly?

Friends For Life
Friends for Life, by Ellen Emerson White, is a very intense mystery set in Boston. Susan McAllister, a high school senior, moves back to Boston with her family. However, after only being back a few days her best friend, all-american Collen Spencer, is found mysteriously dead, and when the cops find drugs in her locker they assume it was a drug overdose. Susan knows Collen would never do drugs, but everyone tells her that she's been gone a couple of years, how does she know Collen hadn't changed? She believes it is murder, and has good reason to. She starts investigating the drug scene at school, and as she gets closer to identifying the killer she puts herself in more danger. This is an excellent, heart-wrenching book, a book you can not put down until the end. The characters seem to come alive, and if you like this book you'll find the sequel, Life Without Friends, equally riveting, as the main charcter this time is the exgirlfriend of Collen's killer. I have read this book many times and every single time I still am saddened by Collen's death and cry when the killer is caught. I totally recommend this book.

Ouick Intro to Jesus
The author has done an excellent job of introducing the reader to Jesus. By the end of the book the reader will not only have met Jesus, but Jesus will have become the reader's new best friend.

Best I've seen on coming to Christ
Though a small pamplet size book, it is packed with power and a wealth of information. Anyone who is really seeking should purchase this book. A great book to start with for the new millienium.

This is one of the best books I've read! Gave me such a picture of God and His love for me that my life will never be the same. The role the angels (God's angels and fallen angels) play in our lives cannot be understated. This was a beautiful portrayal of the unseen. Laura Montane Bailey

Amazing Woman!
Ellen White was an amazing woman who wrote more books than any other female writer ever (and I think that the only man that surpassed her was Benjamin Franklin). You wouldn't know it to read one of her books but she only had a third-grade education! God truly inspired her writings and her life was an awesome testimony to God's ability to use anyone in any station in life. Everything she writes was inspired by God!

So Near and Yet So Far...Even Today
The authors ask, "Can women reach the top of America's largest corporations?" They can and they have...but rarely. This book examines the results of a three-year study of women executives in "Fortune 100" companies. First published in 1987 and then in a revised edition in 1992, Breaking the Glass Ceiling is not wholly current with the situation in these same companies today. (Question: How many have lost their lofty rating they have under-utilized the capabilities of their female employees? Hmmm....) From my perspective, however, most of the book's assertions and conclusions are still valid. The so-called "glass ceiling" has been raised since 1992 but it is still there. Although no long legal, it remains a major barrier nonetheless.

Think about it: You can see where you want to go...you know what you must do to get there...and you are confident of your abilities. So your upward journey within the organization begins. Just as Dorothy saw the distant glow of Oz, you see just as clearly your own destination. It excites you, it inspires you, and you begin to think about how wonderful it will be to get there. As you carefully ascend, you encounter what seems to be a pane of glass. Your face is flush against it. You can still see your destination above you, so near and yet so far. You have hit the "glass ceiling." Now what?

The authors organize their material within eight chapters whose titles correctly indicate the sequence of their analysis:

The Ceiling and the Wall: The Double Barrier to the Top

Up or Out: How Women Succeed, How They Derail

Perception Is Reality: The Narrow Band of Acceptable Behavior

Lessons for Success I : It's Not Enough to Work Hard

Lessons for Success II: It's Not Enough to Work Smart

Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Making It to General Management

Hitting the Wall: Facing Limits, Finding Alternatives

The Future: Can Women Make It to the Top?

Where Are They Now? According to the authors, they are encouraged by two trends: the development of a new "business imperative" which requires organizations to utilize fully all of its human assets, and, the renewal of "legal and legislative pressures." The former is best understood in terms of enlightened self-interest; the second is best understood in terms of the threat of litigation if prevailing laws against gender discrimination have been violated. Whatever it takes. The authors observe: "While there is still a long way to go, progress is being made. Some have broken, or at least cracked the glass ceiling, while others have found ways around it. All have treated the last several years as a learning experience and have applied their own advice in facing the challenges of pioneering women." The "business imperative" as well as "legal and legislative pressures" may have done much to eliminate the "glass ceiling" within organizations. Well and good. But a significant challenge remains: To remove it it, also, from within the minds of those who have been its victims.

Breaking the Glass Ceiling (bold face) helps us to measure what has been accomplished since 1987 when it was first published; 14 years later, it reminds us of what remains to be done.

The Best
Of all the books on inner healing and deliverance that I have read, this one has been one of the two most helpful. Dr. Kraft not only explains what happens in a ministry session, he also explains how to do it. A must for those wanting to see God move in this type of ministry!
