We could all use Wisdom!
This book is fantastic to meditate on. I enjoyed reading this book through the first, second, and third time! There are so many lessons to be learned in life and this book gives you ways to interpret happenings in life. It is certainly a tool to gain christian maturity and spiritual growth. I keep it as a reference and enjoy sharing it with my friends as they experience difficulties in their lives.

The Complete Guide to the Book of Proverbs is more in-depth.
Charles Stanley's book is a good basic introduction to the practical everyday wisdom in the book of Proverbs. Stanley's meditations highlight 31 themes to help you live life more skillfully. For a more in-depth look at King Solomon's wisdom read THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO THE BOOK OF PROVERBS by Cody Jones. It features 6 translations of Proverbs in parallel and a very interesting and readable commentary with historical photos that give you a sense of the culture of the time. It also examines and answers many of the riddles and mysteries in Proverbs.

A must-have book for all electrical engineers!
This book is the most comprehensive reference book available on this topic. In the past, I would have to peruse a variety of texts to find the information contained in this fine book. I highly recommend 'Capacitance, Inductance and Crosstalk Analysis' for electrical engineering students and professionals alike. I find it an invaluable tool for many projects I am currently working on, and refer to it for formulas and other information on a regular basis.

A moving & inspirational biography
Dr. LeRoy Walker has been referred to as an American Hero and after reading his story, I can fully agree. His story is about overcoming politics, poverty, and racism to eventually become the President of the U.S. Olympic Committee. His Olympic Journey was a remarkable triumph and one I'll always remember. Great book!

I could feel God's presence when I read these daily.
In this book, I read about the life-changing journeys of 12 biblical characters to learn how they met the Lord, and how I can do the same. I could really feel the presence of God as I read every daily devotional, I often caught myself reading the next few days devotions, just so I could continue in my devotion time with God.

The Reveries of the Solitary Walker, Botanical Writings, and Letter to Franquieres: Botanical Writings ; And Letter to Franquieres (Collected Writings of Rousseau, Vol 8)
Published in Hardcover by Dartmouth College (1999)
Authors: Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Charles Butterworth, Alexandra Cook, Terence E. Marshall, and Christopher Kelly
Amazon base price: $65.00
Average review score:

Rousseau's Forgotten Botanical Writings now available
This volume is unusually important because it contains for the first time a complete translation of Jean-Jacques Rousseau's botanical writings and a thorough, indeed excellent set of notes. The translation and the notes are the work of Alexandra Cook; she also co-wrote the volume's Introduction with Christopher Kelly. Rousseau has long been known to scholars as a philosopher of nature. Cook's work allows us to see for ourselves what Jean-Jacques actually knew about one great sphere of nature, i.e. plants and their metamorphosis (Geothe takes his term and his theory from Rousseau's inspiration). Rousseau was one of the fathers of field botany, a champion of Linnean terminology but also of the natural system of classification formulated by the Jussieus. Cook's will legitimately be the definitive translation for many years to come; her translation is an important event. I await her monograph on the subject.

A dazzling spectacle of an artbook
Robert Taylor: Air Combat Paintings Volume II is a dazzling spectacle of an artbook, filled with black-and-white as well as full color images of aerial combat paintings, especially those related to World War II air battles. An extensive, in-depth commentaries and history adds a special depth to the origin and moment captured in these heart-stopping works of art. Robert Taylor: Air Combat Paintings, Volume II is a recommended treasure trove of great air combat illustrations for aviation and military history buffs. Also highly recommended is the companion compilation, The Air Combat Paintings of Robert Taylor: Volume 1 (0715314300, £20.00).

Sovereign Wayfaring at its Best
It's a rare and beautiful event when two scientific intelligences engage in genuinely truthful dialogue about vitally important matters which impact daily life. Fortunately that's just what lies in store for any sovereign wayfaring reader of Thief of Peirce. At least that was what I discovered throughout this smooth-flowing collection of correspondence between essayist/novelist Walker Percy, and philosopher Kenneth Ketner.

I've read and re-read so many portions of this book, making margin notes galore, and reflecting on my own view of the subjects on which these two gents exchange ideas and thoughts. So much goes on in Thief that any list of the best content would end up including the whole book anyway; although the most used portion of my copy is Ketner's essay, Novel Science.

So, if you're looking to gain insight into Percy's novels, and Ketner's new sense of autobiography in His Glassy Essence (written before the Reagan bio, as a matter of fact), then don't miss this particular essay in Thief.

But, don't take my word for it --- be Percy's sovereign wayfarer and discover the beauty of this book on your own. After reading it you'll likely be a Thief of Peirce yourself.
