I found this book to be an excellent analysis of the a part of the Iranian economy during the Safavi period. Although it is slanted toward the Armenian minority and does not cover the whole economy, it provides a unique and preceptive view of a section of the economy that has been ignored. Aside from bringing to light the power of the Armenian minority in a hypothetically theocratic state, it will change the reader's preception of the economic, political and social sophistication of Iran and, in fact, the Middle East at the time of European expansion. The book is very well written and the analysis excellent. The absence of tables in the discussion of the volume of exports as given in different sources and and conversions of currency is sorely missed. Such tables would have made it considerably easier to compare the various references. However, this is minor in the general context of the book.
Excellent window onto early Asian/European trade
A detailed and fascinating study of international trade and Safavid politics in the seventeenth century. I found it to be extremely well researched, drawing together evidence from Armenian and Persian documents, as well as European archival collections. The book chiefly focuses on the Armenian merchants who managed the export of silk from Iran to Europe, and the import of European silver back to Iran and India. It successfully demonstrates the crucial financial role these merchants played in the consolidation of the Safavid state in Iran, with comparisons to other outsiders financing the formation of absolutist states in Europe.

valuable information
Ina May Gaskin is the same author of Spiritual Midwifery and now writes a great book about breastfeeding. In this book, she provides tons of valuable information about the history of breastfeeding, the techniques, and solutions to common problems. I truly value this book because it helped me understand the bigger issues surrounding breastfeeding and understanding the best way to feed my child. I believe that the best part of the book is when Ina May shares the experience of losing one of her children. It touched me in the farthest depths of my soul. I value this woman's opinions and know that she is giving the advice that she has personally tested. I love this book and highly suggest to every woman even those who don't have children.

In a nutshell: "Common Sense"!
Drop the latest "fad" diet. Stop stressing because you didn't get to the gym enough this week & get your money's worth of use. Come back down to earth and discover a common sense approach to your health and fitness. This author takes readers step by step through a realistic, uncomplicated program of balance in all areas of a person's well-being -- all the while addressing the myths, explaining the benefits of each activity, de-mystifying concepts such as yoga and meditation and making it all easy for the reader to understand. Intelligible and comprehensible, this concise little book makes "fad" books such as "The Zone" and "Protein Power" look like 3rd year medical student manuals. It's what I've been trying to tell friends and co-workers for some time. After 26 plus years of following the numerous money-grubbing instigators of the 'fitness revolution' (who can never seem to come to agreement) I sought to simplify, return to the basics and "de-stress" my health and fitness regimen. I believe this book accomplishes that and can help anyone establish a sensible program.

Wildly witty! Makes the I-Ching look positively out-dated.
Gary Lasen look out! This is the most wonderful, witty, kookie oracle I have ever seen. The day I discovered it, I found myself shelving the i-ching and opting for humor. AND...it really works!!!! Put the tarot cards away, shelve the I-Ching, leave the psychic hotline to the dull and LIGHTEN UP with FORTUNE KOOKIES!

A superbly presented and recommended bilingual picturebook.
Young Juanito works with his Grandma Esperanza in selling clothing and used books at the local community flea market. As Juanito goes about running errands and bartering goods, he finds himself in the heart of a thriving Mexican American community, one that Juanito knows to be caring and generous, whose value can never be measured only in dollars. A superbly presented bilingual (English/Spanish) picturebook written by the Mexican-American poet Juan Felipe Herrera and illustrated by folk artist Anita De Lucio-Brock, Grandma And Me At The Flea is highly recommended for young readers ages 6 to 10.
Guide to Real Estate and Mortgage Banking Software
Published in Paperback by Real Estate Solutions (1986)
Amazon base price: $95.00
Average review score:
The most thorough guide to real estate and mortgage software
It lists over a hundred companies that develop software for the real estate and mortgage banking industry. Software that tracks your clients specifically for mortgages or real estate, keeps info, prepares letters, estimates, comparisons all the way down to guiding the loan and real estate transactions to the closing stage with complete cruise control. I contacted many companies and they usually send free demos and I purchased the one that best suited my needs and it helped me maintain client info and keep contact with them while at the same time developing new relationships and approaching new potential customers with ease!
I was surprised that in a city of more than 80,000 inhabitants with surrounding population of another 80,000 in nearby towns I was one of maybe a handful of either real estate agents or loan officers who even used a software program! This is out of over 300 licensed realtors and another 40 loan officers!
This allowed me to close more loans a month than the majority, get more referrals and have an 85% to 95% customer loyalty with no advertising!!!
If you want to develop a clientele, maintain happy customers, track referrals and enjoy a business on cruise control in this business you need to use the latest technology to take you there (where few others are at!!!)!!!

insight and criticism
Despite the fact that the two authors are journalists, the book is accurate and credible enough to be used as academic reference. The book covers mainly the Israeli point of view, but its scope is wide and provides insight into the intricate workings and components of the Lebanese-Israeli-Palestinian interactions, as well as the internal aspects of Lebanese and Israeli politics relevant to the issues discussed. The book provides a most interesting and readable coverage of the Israeli military operation, and the behind the scenes planning and intrigue of this operation. Notable is the coverage of the deception used by the Israeli Minister of Defense, Ariel Sharon and Chief of Staff, Rafael Eitan in order to pull the wool over the eyes of the Israeli Prime Minister, Knesset and public. Quite astounding, considering the fact that these events took place in a democratic country. This book is a must for anyone who seeks to understand or research the subject.

Good Book - But Unusual!
People need to remember the game is fantasy, and also that it was originally written in Germany. The book has a few "things" that might make the standard reader uneasy - such as teens drinking beer freely (and its accepted), teens having sex, and the like. But over all, the book is excellent and well written.
