What a Poisionality!
"All About Eve", "The Ghost & Mrs. Muir", "The Black Swan", "The Portrait of Dorian Gray", "Rebecca" ... every time I saw these movies I would revel in George Sanders' performances. I had a hunch that there was much more to the man than met the eye. The introduction and filmography tells you everything you need to know about this talented, tortured man. The priceless segment was his autobiography; hearing his intelligent, sarcastic voice once again making hilarious observations about the world around him. However, one note about the dust cover art: with all the respect given him in the book I thought decorating the book with a martini glass and strewn pills in bad taste.

Entertaining, witty, biography fans will LOVE it!
In 1979 I read 'A Dreadful Man' by Brian Aherne, and fell in love with that book. I searched 17 years to find this book, out-of-print because it was written in the 60's. This summer AMAZON Books sent me what is now my #1 favorite auto-biography. Mr. Sanders should have been an author of more than just this one book. Don't waste your time reading biographies written about him, Of course that doesn't include "A Dreadful Man". He is much more interesting than anything that could be said about him. I am adding this book to my list of books that I won't loan out. Every bookseller that I met who had read this book, said they can't keep it in stock. Don't lose this opportunity to get it through the only place on earth that has it available. Buy it now! I plan to re-read annually and just fantasize about what it would be like to be able to write one sentence like him.

packed with information, highly professional, very clear
I would give this book 6 stars if I could as it is the best book on skiing-related fitness I have seen so far. Written by a professional ski coach, it is filled with information starting from the body metabolism, plyometric and strength training exercises, to training which can be perfomed while skiing. All off-snow exercises which I saw in skiing videos, books, skiing journals, and on the internet are in this book. The importance of each group of exercises is clearly explained. No special equipment is required (except for the access to an average gym for strength training). The suggested training routines are based on US skiing team manuals and on over 80 references cited in the bibliography. All 200 pages are densely packed with information, all presented so well that it does not overwhelm you at all. Another aspect of this book which I liked is that the author treats the readers as intellegent people, who can put together their own training schedule according to their needs and possibilities. There is no suggested training schedules, just recommendations how much one should exercise and why not more or less than that. Although it is not a book on skiing, there are some tips on racing and ski tuning as well. This book is worth many others published on this topic, and I applaud the author for doing such a fine job!

Excellent book on training
I ordered this book because I am looking for training tips for my son -a young ski racer. The book is 80% devoted to training excercises, both on/off snow. The author is correct that the new shaped skiis have little effect on the validity of the training taught within. I would recommend the book to coaches, racers, and others for whom skiing isn't just something to do on the slopes, but for whom the pursuit of maximum performance is most important.

Say No to Circumcision: 40 Compelling Reasons

A valuable resource for parents
This is an excellent book for anyone wishing to know more about the outdated practice of circumcising healthy flesh from the male genitals. Even Dr. Spock has changed his mind. Circumcision is not a necessary, health-enhancing procedure. Far from it. This painful and traumatic operation done during the first days of life, without anesthesia, diminishes the sexual function and sensitivity of the penis, results in thousands of surgical complications and deformities, and causes untold psychological damage, while providing dubious health benefits. This book dispels the myths that have led parents to amputate the foreskin of tens of millions of newborn boys. This book is on the recommended reading lists of these circumcision information resources. Circumcision Information and Resource Pages (CIRP) - Circumcision Information Resource Center (InfoCirc) - UNCircumcising Information Resource Center (UNCIRC) - Circumcision Resource Center (CRC) - Doctors Opposing Circumcision (DOC)- Fathering Magazine - National Organization of Circumcision Information Resource Centers (NOCIRC) - National Organization of Restoring Men (NORM) - National Organization to Halt the Abuse and Routine Mutilation of Males (NOHARMM)

This book is very informative, a must for all parents-to-be.
This book is very informative. It goes through all the myths that are still previlant in the American medical community. Explains the function of the dingy, and why the foreskin is so important for sexual pleasure.

The Story of George Washington: Quiet Hero (Famous Lives (Milwaukee, Wis.).)

Good Reivew
I read this book, and Joyce Milton, sure did a good book about the first president of the united states, who married Martha Dandrige Washington, got his face on a quarter, and got his face on a penny. I give it a ...(5 out of 5), and I give it 5 stars.

George Washington Quiet Hero
This book was a worthy tribute to our first President who was truly a quiet and even a reluctant hero. It told something of his boyhood, but the main focus was on his part in the formation of the United States. The reading was perfect for my sixth grade readers, and also held the interest of my Asian college-aged exchange students who are here to study American culture.

Excellent Book!
This was the first book by George MacDonald I've read, but this one made me want to go out and get another to read. I read this one over about two days, and I can honestly say that I had to put it down very unwillingly. I particularly love Barbara, Richard's friend, and that she's completely free from all prejudice. It seems those around her could learn a few things from her! The end was completely believable, which made it seem as though the story could have taken place. The characters were likewise very believable which lent to a very smooth plot.

Among the best animal stories of all time
With its great love and warmth, this book is a very special gift to readers: a great writer turning his attention to something commonplace--the relationship between a pet and its owner--resulting in a story that is not sentimental, hackneyed, or sweet, but a moving exploration of the love between animals and humans. Just reading Mann's simple description of how he speaks his dog's name, Bashan, and the electricity that name sends through his pet, is worth every penny.

Hurrah for the Red and the Blue!
I guess it helps being an extremely old (the actual founding date is debated and discussed within the book) Ivy League university to get your very own historical and architectural guide published.

Part I of the book follows the development of the University from its initial charter through to its march to modern times. Speaking as an alumnus of Penn, I always though the University had an exceptionally beautiful campus, but its rich history was virtually unknown to me. This book makes it clear that the plan for institutional growth required the Deans, Trustees, and other campus leaders engage in detailed campus architectural planning - where, what, and how?. Only now can I appreciate the decisions and compromises made that are reflected by the campus architecture. The authors use the epilogue to address some of the myths that campus students have spread and continue to perpetuate.

Part II of the book is a detailed review (North, South, East, West, and Central campus) of the current structures on the campus. Each building gets its own entry detailing its address, date of construction, purpose, and accompanying photo.

The book is chock full of diagrams, illustrations, and photographs showing the campus and the movers and shakers that shaped it.

This is the perfect coffee table book for graduates of The University of Pennsylvania.

Good calculus textbook
This book is the preferred one for teaching high level Calculus sequences at my college. In particular math 110a and 110b, this is NOT a reformed calculus textbook. It's a good, old traditional style text :) I like it.
